> Interior Designer Marcia Amoye relentless eye for detail is committed to creating beautifully and memorable home for you. She has done an excellence job on my place in Jamaica.

**★★★★★ — marcela678, March 2016**

> Quintessential Elegance is just that, quintessential and elegant. As my contractor, I began to call Ms. Amoye the creative designer working on my new home, the Magician. She literally took what my wife and I thought was garbage and revived those pieces with such artistry that left all of us stunned. We moved in and are still in aw as to how it is for someone to take stuff that have been sitting in storage for years that have been written off, and transformed them working with limited support. We described to the designer Ms. Amoye that we wanted an Afropolitan home, using some things very old, somethings old but very little new within a very limited budget.

> She worked her magic and left stunning results that achieved what we had envisioned - simply miraculous.

From new builds, to makeovers to staging she has an uncanny ability to turn any space into a warm and inviting area. I am also impressed by her knowledge and breadth of contacts around the globe. I highly recommend her services and look forward to our next project together.

> It was a pleasure to work with Quintessential Elegance and I am happy to have been able to assist her on completing selections for her design project.
> As a professional she was well organized and communicated efficiently which made all the difference given the great distance between us. I welcome a continued partnership and a long working relationship on future projects.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Yes or no to the red stools?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We can get the same stools in black, we are really not sure about the red. Thoughts?

A: Red for sure!

**Q: Swapping out Master Bedroom and Den** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have a large master bedroom and a smaller bedroom I've been using as a den. In the "den", I have a chair, foot stool, loveseat, two end tables, a TV cabinet and two other cabinets with bookcase tops flanking the TV cabinet, plus a low bookcase. I'm thinking of swapping out rooms, and using the smaller room as my bedroom. I'd have room for my queen size bed, a bedside chest, dresser, chest of drawers and cedar chest in my "den". Since my master bedroom is a lot larger, I'd be able to use the den furniture in that room, plus keep a couple bedroom pieces, and add a desk.

Currently, I have to use my dining room table for my laptop, and I have boxes and files along side the dining room table. I also have my router/modem in the living room. My printer is in the den, and it doesn't always connect when I want to print something. I think that might be because it's too far away from the router/modem and my laptop.

I'm thinking of removing my old carpeting in my master bedroom (to be converted to a den) and adding hardwood flooring. I currently have carpeting in my living room, dining room and small room that I'm using as a den.

Do you think this sounds like a good idea to you? I'd put a neutral oak hardwood flooring in the larger room (my bedroom now). The hallway that runs between all the rooms is tile, so there wouldn't be wood flooring next to wood flooring. If I'd ever move and sell my place, I would think someone might want to install hardwood flooring in the other two rooms, and it it would be easy to find a flooring that would look good with what I'd put in my "master bedroom"/"den".

What are your thoughts about this?

A: Is it possible for you to share photos of the spaces with us?

**Q: Backsplash question** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I've narrowed down my choices to these two. Not sure if this style tile design requires a boarder around the bottom and top or sides. A slim similar tile?
Is there a rule of thumb?

A: I would suggest a darker coordinating border with your first displayed backsplash.

Hope you'll post the finished pictures. Good luck!

**Q: How to update this foyer and staircase?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

How would you update this entryway?
Seems like a tremendous waste of space.
It also feels extremely ornate and "outdated".

A: For a different look, I'd suggest stripping the spindles to their original color or simply painting them. Your chandelier and fireplace should also be changed/ updated. I would also add runners on the stairs, a rug at the front with a table and art work on the upper walls.

**Q: dining room chair help needed** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have this lovely dining table 66" round made of two inch thick concrete with a nickel dipped base. I'm thinking a lucite clear chair but also feel I need something warmer and more substantial. However chairs with a solid back hide the lovely legs.

A: Thank you so much. These are all my pics, mostly taken by me with an iPhone. Many of the Accra Elegance pics were taken by a professional photographer as that project was over time and I had unlimited access. That was actually the house that I had the cushions made for the ghost chairs after deciding to use them both in and outdoor.

**Q: Dinning table** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the dimension of the dinning table?thanks

A: The height is 30", width is 44" and length is 72". It comes with 2 leaves (18" each) which extend it to a total length of 108".
