> I never do any decorating/painting/purchasing of furniture and/or accent pieces in our house without the help of Cheryl Draa. We have been working with her since 1992. She listens to what we have to say and presents us with many options. She's the best!

**Comment from Cheryl Draa Interior Designs:**

> Thank you, Cheri! It's been a joy working with your family on your home. I've enjoyed seeing your daughter grow up and your home transition during these changes. Always a pleasure to work with you.

> Cheryl Draa is an amazing designer! She is my go to person anytime I am facing a new project. I first hired her 8 years ago when I sought input creating office space to run my psychotherapy practice. I told her the effect I wanted to create. She made several suggestions from color, furniture choice, and texture to help me create the warm safe environment so important to the space. Again, I hired her to help me create a specific feel I was seeking in the home I recently transitioned to. Its so exciting to go from a house to a home that represents me and a new phase of life. Thank you Cheryl. I recommend her without hesitation!

> I have know Cheryl now for over two years, and have referred her to many of my closest friends and family. when I say she does an outstanding job, she does! Many people would not work with some of my family members, but she listened to exactly what they wanted and guided them through a total house remodel. Everything looks great and the return on investment was well worth it.
>
> My wife and I also had Cheryl come over for a color consult and furniture assessment. She turned our house into an organized great looking home in just a few hours. I would recommend her to anyone.

**★★★★★ — pschotler, Dec. 2016**

> Cheryl Draa helped us to update our tired 15 year old kitchen into what's now our favorite room in the house! We didn't really know what look we wanted but we knew how we wanted it to feel. Cheryl listened and asked lots of questions and presented several ideas for us to consider-all within our budget. Honestly we followed every step of her advice. After a brief experiment with a wall color I thought would look best, we repainted with the color she recommended and it is perfect! I highly recommend Cheryl Draa Design.

**★★★★★ — Greg Traphagen, Dec. 2016**

> We have worked with Cheryl on several different projects and her expertise, professionalism and creativity has shown through on all of them. Her responsiveness is exceptional and she has been a very valued person in our remodeling and redecorating.

**★★★★★ — virginiaaparker5, Dec. 2015**

> I really enjoyed working with Cheryl. I let her know what areas of my home I wanted to re-decorate, we walked through the areas and she asked me questions to gather information on whether I had ideas for the space or fully wanted recommendations from her. I went with her color suggestions for paint and her design suggestions for my rooms and am very pleased with the end result.
> I would recommend her to anyone looking for a new design for your space.

**★★★★★ — fuzzys, Dec. 2015**

> Cheryl must have been born to be a home decorator because she knows form and function and color so well. Plus she's passionate about her profession and has perfected her artistic craft. I worked with her 10 years ago on our new house, and now we are building a new one in the mountains and she's helping guide the development again. I'm very pleased with her skills and interest in listening to my input as well, to create a unique environment that suits our family.

**★★★★★ — Leigh Anne Good, Sept. 2014**

> Cheryl goes above and beyond for her clients. I have been working with Cheryl for 8 years and 2 different condos. She is amazingly creative in placing your current pieces in just the right place and grouping, teaching you "DIY" projects to compliment your home as well as making suggestions for new purchases to complete your home! She respects your style and preferences and follows through with all commitments. She is creative, fun, and personable. She also is willing to teach you on basic designing techniques and she is a mentor to young design students. Cheryl is extremely talented and a true partner in making your house a home!

> It's as if Cheryl read my mind & saw my vision for our Master Bedroom--it is truly beautiful & serene. Exactly what we wanted! Thank you, Cheryl!

  - Description: This exterior renovation involved a dry media blasting (so that we weren’t pushing water inside the cabin) to take off all the old stain. Then damaged or old boards were replaced as needed, the deck rails were updated, and new staining and painting proceeded. What should have taken a few weeks of dry days, ended up taking months because of rain and snow...but we all kept waiting it out for dry, sunny days...and it was worth it!

## Community Q&A

**Q: advice on decorating master bedroom** *(in Home Decorating)*

Advice greatly appreciated. Fairly large room

A: Center the bed on the wall, for sure. Get a chair, or chaise lounge for the bump out windows. Add full length drapery panels on sides of these windows. Put the tiny table near that chaise/chair, along w the standing lamp. Find a complementary table (complimentary in size and color) for other side of bed, then put large, chunky lamps that match on both sides of bed tables. If the height isn’t the same, put books under the lamp to make the lamp heights end up the same. Finish with a large horizontal piece of art over the bed, pillows in same colors on the bed and one on the chair, or chaise. Voila!

**Q: Decorating a small master bedroom** *(in Lighting)*

Hello all! I am just buying my first home, and it turns out the previous owners were DIYers, but most of the jobs were only completed halfway. We ended up having to remove a lot of their efforts because we couldn't match any of the materials. There is one feature that was fairly close to finished; a rustic wood wall in the master bedroom. I like this feature and would like to keep it, but am struggling to figure out what type of lighting would work best in a small room, while balancing out the rustic nature of the wall. The bedroom is small, and doesn't have a huge amount of space for my furniture, but it should all fit alright. I will have some room for floor lamps, maybe some space for table lamps, and have hard-wiring for one overhead fixture which is currently a fan, but it has some issues with its wiring so it may be taken out. I want the room to have plenty of light, without taking away what little space I do have left. I have thought about some pendant lighting, but am unsure if it would be able to provide enough light in the room. Any suggestions, ideas, or recommendations are welcome! Thank you! (The furniture pictured is the previous owner's).

A: Hard to tell because this is not your furniture. In general I would say that you need a great, tall headboard, to balance the wood on the wall, and tall bedside tables.

**Q: Wall paint ideas for beige/walnut kitchen** *(in Paint)*

Hi

im installing new kitchen cabinets in our open plan house. It’s IKEA voxtorp in walnut and high gloss beige. I want to paint the wall (just one) in a complementary color but can’t decide what I want. The island and base cabinets will be walnut, as well as all high cabinets. Wall cabinets will be a large rectangular module in high gloss beige. I’d like to tone down the beige and bring out the cooler mineral tones in the beige cabinets. The wall receives very little direct sunlight so color look more muted than in sunlight. Countertops will be white marble quartz with slight grey veining. The rest of the house will most likely be SW Zurich white.

A: If you are brave, try purple.

**Q: need curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need add curb appeal to my home. I live in central Texas. The soil has clay. The city water is salty.
The types of plants that grow well are: Nellie Stevens Holly, Savanah Holly, Indian Hawthorn, Dwarf Youpon, Boxwood, Various fountain grasses. Japanese Yew.

A: Many will give a plan for free and then sell the plants. I used to live in Texas.. grow native for the least hassle!

**Q: Saltillo tile- paintable?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I was considering painting my Saltillo tile black to give it a more modern look- is this possible?

A: Leave the floors! Paint the table.

**Q: Living Room Furniture Help Needed** *(in Furniture)*

Hi everyone,

We are selecting our formal living room furniture. This furniture will only be used when we entertain and the area is open and adjacent to the dining room.

The room is quite small at 92" x 166" and is open to a walkway. We have figured out our furniture arrangement and selected a sofa. We will be ordering the Mitchell Gold Kennedy loveseat (68") and placing it on the 92" wall. Now, we have to select 2 arm chairs to be placed opposite the loveseat, by the windows.

I have found 2 styles that I like and need help deciding between them. They are both roughly the same size (30 wide x 32 deep) but one style is heavier looking.

Which chair will be the best option to sit opposite the Kennedy loveseat?

A: I agree, go with the full backs and add an accent pillow! Bonus they look awesome from the back, too!
