Style,color, pattern where to locate curtains. Was think sheer panels with valance. A: Don't forget that the length of the panels should be no shorter than 1 inch from the floor **Q: Need basement kitchen help! Low ceilings!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Looking for inexpensive upper cabinets and how to place. Backsplash ideas? A: Definitely agree with the island suggestion! For the backsplash, something rustic like a faded brick would juxtapose nicely with your modern kitchen, but all the way up to the ceiling. For additional storage, why not add 2 white box shelves across the entire length of your kitchen walls on top of the brick? **Q: Help! How to make bookcases sit evenly on tile floor?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I bought 4 new bookcases and after delivery we realized they don't sit flush because our tile floor is uneven (the tiles are slightly curved like a loaf of bread baked in the oven). It's not tragic but just enough to make my OCD eye cringe. Any ideas for how to fix this without having to redo our floor? A: try mounting a cleat to the cabinet and then to the wall. After that screw the cabinets together and wa la your even! **Q: Exterior Paint Color Choice???** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hey guys, I'm in desperate need of advice for a paint color for my siding. As you can see the house looks "tired". We've done a bit of work to this back yard but it's still very blah. My color scheme for my outdoor is green, cream/white, and navy. We've got some dark wicker pieces as well. Please help! I have looked at a couple of darker browns to warm up the spot - have a look at the attached sample. Help please! Thanks!!! A: I think you looking for something subtle yet still making a statement right? So I agree with some of the comments above, however since your roof color is gray you may want to look at shades of gray for the siding? And possibly do some shutters in the same accent color to tie it all in. Definitely try to clean the roof up though! **Q: To match or not to match?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Renovating my kitchen and all appliances. Do I go for best quality appliance in class(consumer reports)- for instance Thermador cooktop, kitchen aid wall oven, LG refrigerator. Or do I match by brand and buy all kitchen aid pro-line. I'm looking to spend one where between $10,000-14,000 for all. Any suggestions? A: We have a home inspection division with our company, and just from experience we're finding that the brand with the most features, style, and reliability, keep in mind this changes every few years, but right now: GE monogram seems to be at the top the charts. **Q: Mid Century Modern in need of serious TLC!!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Beginning total re-modelof a classic mid century, we call it "Smelly House" enough said...... A: Well you are off to a good start, and a mid century modern is awesome architecture, so your house has good bones. We have restored many Alexander or what is called in our area Palm Springs vintage homes. First on your agenda should be getting rid of all the paneling in the house.
