The cost of their services is always competitive with other quotes, and usually slightly lower than most. Socrates and his crew do a meticulous job prepping, caulking and sanding before they paint, and they pay attention to every detail. They clean up every day, are polite, friendly, and very concerned that we are happy with the paint job. Many of my neighbors and friends use Alpha Painting and we've never heard a complaint. > Socrates, the owner, is actually awesome about recommending colors, mixing a color to achieve an exact shade, and he has never steered us wrong. He has a natural eye for what will look good. The painters are trustworthy and we just give them a house key now if we won't be home. They are happy to move furniture or hanging pictures out of the way before they paint and are careful with our belongings. The paint looks beautiful for years after they complete a job, and whenever they're in my home for a job the painters will touch up other spots, especially on the trim, without us even asking. They're perfectionists. Thanks! A: On this particular project the paint color was custom tinted on site. But not real sure where to start with this room. Thinking about painting these beams a gloss white but not sure. All the woodwork in the house is stained. Would it be ok to just paint the beams? So much to do going to do laminate flooring but not sure about all the woodwork. A: Hello. To brighten and update the space consider painting all the wooden trim around the room white ... door/window casings, baseboard, perhaps the mantel as well. With all the trim painted white, either white or dark stained beams would work nicely. Here are a couple of examples. A: I agree with the above comment. Your home is a classic and I don't think the brick needs to be painted. You can easily brighten and update the exterior by focusing on the paintable wood areas. Consider painting the trim, window casings, portico, and dormers in a soft white. Benjamin Moore's White Dove is a color you might like to try. A black or deep red front door would look very welcoming. The shutters could be painted black with either one of these front door options. As a side note, I would also consider removing the shutters on either side of the front door. If this is a more extensive renovation.
