> We first became acquainted with Terhaar Builders about 10 years ago through a mutual friend who introduced us to Matt and Larry. We have seen much of their work over these past years and so naturally when we needed some major work done to our fifty-plus year old cape they were the first, and only ones we would consider to do the work.

> The windows and doors were all original and the roof had multiple layers of shingles on it. We also had a deck that was rotting out and needed to be replaced. Matt worked with us on selecting the best materials for our job and we kept within our budget.  Matt saw to all the orders and deliveries being sure that everything was correct. The demolition work went smoothly with little to no disruption to our daily lives. The new doors  and windows went in quickly and have never leaked. They are more energy efficient and have saved us on our heating and cooling costs too. Matt's attention to detail on the trim work around the windows and doors was amazing.

> The roofing job was a bit more difficult because there were several layers of shingles that had to be removed by hand before he could place the new ones. Matt had a roll off container set up in the driveway and was careful with shrubs and plantings around the house while he worked. As with any roof there were a few places where there was water damage to the sheathing from years of small leaks. Those panels had to be replaced before he could continue. Once he was able to lay the new shingles he was meticulous in lining the shingles up so the pattern was perfect. The roof has never leaked once since work was completed.

> For years every summer we would have to repaint our deck. It was a job we dreaded. Matt recommended using the new composite material that never needs painting and comes in a variety of colors. He helped us chose the decking color and the style of rails and post caps.  Both he and Larry worked on this project together and what a beautiful job they did. We love the look.  And because we can simply power wash it once a year it always looks like new!

> We undertook the remodeling of our kitchen and two bathrooms --down to the studs--having no experience whatsoever.  Larry Terhaar guided us through the process every step of the way.  He met us at tile and bathroom supply showrooms to help explain what we were looking at and what would keep us within our budget.  He even pre-shopped for our appliances based on a sale that was running!  Larry was always available- ALWAYS- to answer questions, offer suggestions, and calm the occasional neophyte nerves.  We both went to work everyday and came home at night knowing that our two old labs would be calm and comfortable despite the ruckus of the remodel.  The project was done exactly when Terhaar Builders said it would be done and right on budget.  Our new kitchen and bathrooms get raves - especially from us.  Larry and Matt Terhaar get our very highest recommendation!

Larry and Matt Terhaar worked diligently with us to form a vision for the project, inclusive of extensive millwork design and an exquisite kitchen.
