> Maria DeGange at Chroma Home is \#1-
> We cannot recommend Maria DeGange at Chroma Home enough — the spaces she designed for us transformed our home into a masterpiece that we so enjoyed and later sold in ONE DAY with multiple offers above asking! And yes, everyone who walked through raved about the master bathroom. “We have to have this house because of THAT bathroom!” became the battle cry. Maria’s design was that irresistible.
> From the very first meeting, Maria brought such a personal touch that made us feel truly seen and understood. Honestly, my frugal husband was initially hesitant , but, after hearing and seeing her vision, he relaxed and enjoyed the process! She doesn’t just decorate — she listens deeply, intuitively grasps your lifestyle, your dreams, and your story, then weaves it all into every single detail. Our home on the river went from beautiful to breathtaking because she poured her heart into making it feel like us.
> What truly sets Maria apart is her architectural insight and incredible designer’s eye. She has an amazing ability to see the bones of a space, reimagine the flow, and elevate every inch with both function and wow-factor beauty. Her structural knowledge from years of renovations meant our updates weren’t just pretty — they were smart, timeless, and perfectly executed.
> As someone with deep Greek roots, Maria naturally gravitates toward vibrant, soulful color and joyful energy — yet she seamlessly blended that passion with my more traditional, clean, and serene aesthetic. She introduced just the right pops of warmth and personality without ever overwhelming the calm, elegant vibe I wanted. The result? A home that feels both fresh and timeless, colorful yet refined — pure harmony!
> Her extensive experience with high-end clients shines through in every recommendation. She has an impeccable eye for combining the absolute best quality pieces, materials, and custom details… but she’s equally wonderful at working beautifully within real-life budgets. She never made us feel limited — instead, she got creative and delivered excellence that felt luxurious and perfectly attainable.
> And to top it all off? Maria is just FUN. Working with her through the (sometimes stressful) process of redecorating felt more like hanging out with a brilliant, creative and good friend more than a business transaction. Her warmth, positivity, and calm energy made every decision exciting instead of overwhelming. We laughed, we celebrated, and we created something we’re ridiculously proud of.
> If you’re even thinking about working with Chroma Home — stop thinking and book them immediately. Maria DeGange is a true talent, a joy to work with, and the reason our river home became a showstopper. Thank you, Maria — you’re the best!!! — Very Pleased Client in Jacksonville

From selecting beautiful wallpaper and fabrics to coordinating colors, textures, and furnishings, Maria expertly pulled everything together in a way that feels both elegant and deeply personal to our home.
>
> What impressed me most was her ability to understand our style and transform our ideas into a cohesive design that exceeded our expectations. Every room feels thoughtfully curated, warm, and unique. Maria’s creativity, attention to detail, and design expertise makes the entire process enjoyable and stress-free.
>
> I highly recommend Maria and Chroma Home to anyone looking for a talented designer who can create a beautiful, personalized space that truly reflects your unique style.

> Maria designed the main living area of my new home which was a very blank slate. I hade multiple ideas and concepts I wanted to incorporate (too many). She was SO collaborative with me through every step of the process. She blended my various ideas into a gorgeous final product. I would highly recommend Maria to anyone looking for interior decor services. She truly partners with her clients from concept to delivery and installation.

> Maria is a superb designer. It is incredibly rare to find a design professional with both structural renovation and interior design expertise essential for renovation and the sophisticated artistic vision required to elegantly decorate a home. She has a remarkable gift for capturing your individual style and executing it even better than you ever imagined. She transformed our home project into a brilliant, highly functional space. Her extraordinary eye for detail shines through every element, combining materials, textures, textiles, colors, patterns, and layouts in ways we could never have imagined ourselves. She is an excellent communicator and responds to questions and needs in a very timely manner. Throughout the entire process, she was incredibly patient with us and considerately flexible with our budget constraints, all without ever compromising on quality. Maria is the absolute best in the business!

**Comment from Chroma Home:**

> Thank you so much Sheila, it was a pleasure working with you and Ken!

> Maria is very patient and knowledgeable about design. After conversations about what I wanted, Maria was able to pull wallpaper samples from her design books. I wanted to refresh my laundry and mud rooms with something lively and different. Maria helped me pick wallpapers for both rooms and I am very satisfied. I now have unique beautiful rooms that turned out to be more beautiful than I could have imagined that expresses my taste and personality.
> My office space was the third room I wanted to bring to life. Again, here suggestions were spot on.
> I highly recommend Maria. She has a great eye for design and knows how to compliment patterns and colors.
> Thank you Maria. You are a jewel to the design community.
> Kind regards,

> Maria is undoubtedly one of the finest and most talented curators of all things design including color, textures, and furnishings, which match her strong spatial gift for creating amazing places. It was my privilege to work with Maria in the sale of her home, and we received multiple offers way over asking price. This was due to the vision and implementation in the transformation of the home, including removing walls, installing a beam, enclosing spaces, and much more. Another huge plus is that Maria really listens and understands the person she is talking to. Working with her was a pleasure and it is my hope that you will have that opportunity as well.

**Comment from Chroma Home:**

She absolutely delivered on everything that I wanted her to do from furniture to lighting to accessories. Will definitely use her for future projects and highly recommend her for your decorating needs.

It was actually totally perfect. We installed over a dozen areas. she was available every time I needed her. Very pleasant person and easy communicator. She's at the top of her game for sure.

## Community Q&A

**Q: design dilemma** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I would like some design help. The 1st and 2nd pic are my current guest bathroom ( horrible I know). I’d like to update it. Was liking the vanity in pic 3 and shower tile ( soft green)pic 4 for shower walls with a white tub, with matte gold hardware. I’m having a hard time finding floor tile that goes well( looking for matte porcelain tile). I want this bathroom to be calming and not overly beige. I appreciate your help in advance.

A: Creamy matte tile with possible light vein or texture linen look tile will be a great option: Porcelain Tile. I am a big fan of wallpaper too-a nive texture or light pattern will make a huge difference.

**Q: please help with chandelier** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I updated my chandelier and I’m not sure if this works. What are your thoughts?

A: I am sorry to repeat this, but the scale and overall style of the new chandelier doesn't compliment your dining area. If you have the ability to return, I would choose a linear or something with texture. The rrom feels startk, so you may consider other elements to make it a nice gathering space: rug, art, wallpaper. If you can return it and you don't know what to get, I would strongly recommend to reach out to a professional for help. A group thread is not enough to help you make costly decisions. If reaching out is an option, I can help you remotely.

**Q: Which sofa color will you pick?** *(in Home Decorating)*

Formal family room with white oak floor and white walls and it is open to kitchen with white cabinets. The natural light in the room is just ok. Which of the following color would you pick? Is the lighter color on trend now? Which color will go with wider range of other things in the room?

Thank you in advance for any inputs!

A: I would strongly recommend to consider everything else in the room before you choose a sofa. I know you said it is an empty room, but there are so many other factors that you need to consider. I would definitely use a rug as an anchor of the room and maybe that will be the ground for decision making. It is worth to take the time to create a color palette for the space.

**Q: Mixing dining chair styles that makes sense.** *(in Home Decorating)*

Need to purchase furniture in dining area of open concept home. I’ve searched, looked at and tried dozens and dozens of chairs and ideas. I’m close to the ones in first two photos. I absolutely love the 2 host chairs and want to make them work. Do they make sense with the side chairs in pic? Which table- photo 1 or 2? Going for modern organic. But transitional. Home is in Florida on the water so casual and airy but I do not like seashell coastal vibes at all. Pic 3 and 4 are view of kitchen and island. Stools are staying so they need to make sense with dining furniture as well. Playing with idea of painting island front black. But is that too stark and steering too far from softness and slight coastal elements throughout? Any thoughts or suggestions GREATLY appreciated!! TIA

A: I like the parson's table best with the rest of chairs. The pedestal table (third picture) is way too traditional with the style of the chairs you picked. If these are every day living chairs, I would consider using a performance fabric, ideally in color or pattern. I strongly recommend a chandelier over the table too. It will create more ambiance and will 'gather' the area. Also, if the counter stools you have are the ones in the picture, they are not in sink with the style of the rest. They don't relate well to the table and contemporary chairs.
If you want to use the pedestal table and the bistro stools, I would change the dining chairs.

**Q: north facing living room - need more light in here!** *(in Home Decorating)*

This is our living room. The 3 windows behind the sofa are north facing. During the day, this room feels dark. I want it to feel like it has more natural light.
Is there a near scientific way to evaluate the light in the room now, and how much additional natural light would be added with these incremental change ideas:

Change sofa to a light color
remove dark accent wall around fireplace
Add a west facing transom window above the art
Paint all griege walls to a reflective off white
Paint kitchen cabinets (not show - on other side of island) to a color. Right now they are dark brown wood
Change the north facing 3 windows into sliding glass doors

I want to strategically pick the enhancements that give the most bang for buck for brightening the room and making it feel fresh, light, airy.
I am also open to kind hearted suggestions!
Thank you!

A: You can definitely paint the room SW Alabaster White if you want to brighten the room, but first of all, you need to add a good size lamp on your end table. Another thing you can do is to draw your art more to the right centering it on the wall, and add two sconces on each side of the art. You can use portable sconces or if you are willing to hire an electrician to install hard wired ones, there are many great selections that you could put in a dimmer and will change the mood and the character of the room.

**Q: Green cabinets? Will we get tired of them?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm going to rennovate my kitchen to brighten it up and I'm stuck on what to do about my cabinets. They are in good shape but I would prefer shaker style doors and definitely want to install pull out drawers. I've worked with a designer and picked out flooring, a shade of green for the cabinets, and a white quarts (Pental Terra Sol Polished) for the countertops, and a cream/beige stone for the backsplash. I do love the look of the green with the light cream counters. But I have a big kitchen and that is a lot of green. My dilemma is whether I will get tired of the green cabinets and should I mix it up with some light wood or perhaps cream cabinets for the island? I will be adding a breakfast/coffee/wine station with new cabinets where the buffet is currently so I expect I'll have to paint, replace or reface the cabinets so that they all match when the new cabinets come in. Should I go all green? Mix it up?

A: I love the green and I would definitely mix it up with some wood finish that compliments your floor(if you keep it) or even better with something creamy, off-white, given that you already have a lot of wood element in floor and ceiling. May be contrasting the island will be a good idea. And either do the same quartz backsplash or a beautiful tile, not natural stone. I will stay away from thick veins on the quartz and gray tones on a new floor if you are considering chainging it.
If you keep the same cabinets, that fridge area needs a little facelift... Either some cabinet over the fridge, or paint/change the china. I would love to se a counter depth fridge, it will elevate that area big time. And don't forget the lighting. Your space can take some substential pendants over the island that will 'gather' the room. Good luck!
