> Aaron and his entire team are the only people we would trust with renovating our home! We had a particularly difficult project of renovating a 1950's home that is located at the bottom of 4 hills, so in a major flood zone, and we wanted to add a second story. Ended up finding mold, asbestos, and lead in the house as well. They secured our foundation and walked us through the entire process of making our home perfect for us on a budget. Aaron and his team have been incredibly responsive throughout the entire process and have even showed up for us after the project was completed when needed. Could not recommend them any more!

> Aaron and His crew were wonderful to work with! The project was finished on schedule and we would definitely use Craftbuilt in the future.

> We had a 30-year-old deck that desperately needed replacement. A family member who is a well-known landscape architect provided plans for a new deck of several elevations which was somewhat technical and complicated. Our thought was with plans in hand estimates would be easy for contactors to provide and we could compare apples to apples. Not so. The range of prices was considerable and several contractors completely ignored the plans. We heard of CraftBuilt through friends and after visiting the website thought our job might be too small. Again, not so. CraftBuilt was a breath of fresh air. Aaron actually studied the plans before he even came to the house to discuss the project and provide an estimate. The team is very responsive to inquires and dealt with some sub-contractor issues professionally and in a timely manner. The project did run past the estimated time due to the sub-contractor issues and the weather. We are pleased with the result and would recommend CraftBuilt for your next renovation.

> We hired CraftBuilt to do an addition and renovation on our home in Grant Park. They did an outstanding job on a difficult project. Aaron and his staff were always friendly and knowledgeable about all the rules and regulations of doing a project in a historic district. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. We were so pleased with the work that we hired them to do another renovation on a rental house that we have.

> Aaron McGinnis at Craftbuilt was referred to us by our realtor. She had heard really good things about the work that he'd done in City of Atlanta, she liked his style and thought his personality would align well with ours. Turns out, she was 100% correct.

> We met with Aaron for the first time in April 2017 and that kicked off our journey to building the house that we're madly in love with today. Aaron's process is as clear and thorough as he is. Our first few meetings were very conceptual in nature. We talked through what we thought we wanted & he used that to define a high level design. After minimal iterations, we knew he was our guy. He truly heard everything we said, he understood our style, budget and what we were looking to accomplish. He did put in some extra touches that we, ourselves, hadn't considered which turns out to be GREAT additions to the home in the end.
>
> The software that Aaron uses for designs and project management is quite neat and comprehensive. The design software gives you a look ant feel of the house even before it's done. The project management software helps to stay up to date with what's happening throughout the entire process.

> The building process itself was stressful. We built in City of Decatur which has some annoying (borderline nonsensical) restrictions on what can/can't be done. Additionally, the city requires certain "green" building certifications which Aaron was able to comply with without issue. The permitting process took longer than we all anticipated (see above nonsensical restrictions) which threw us behind schedule. Aaron continued to work with the city patiently to get our permits and designs pushed through. Once those things were done, we were off to the races. Much of the build went as defined, Aaron and team worked though a few challenges with the weather, their subs and the city to deliver on building us the Frank Lloyd Wright modern styled home we had our hearts set on. The house is incredibly energy efficient, it blew the city's green standard out of the water during the final assessment. The house has all the modern, but timeless features were were hoping for along with some design elements that Aaron added which we absolutely love (cedar soffits, solid core doors throughout the house, 8 foot entry/exit doors, etc.).
>
> We really enjoy everything about our new home and are happy to have worked with Aaron and Gina! If we had to do it all over, we'd definitely choose them again!

> My non-profit organization hired Craftbuilt to help convert a 1901 residential structure into a commercial bookstore and community space. Aaron and the Craftbuilt team put their whole hearts into this project, even and especially when it was hard. We were working with many more moving parts than a typical home renovation and Aaron was very kind and patient in explaining things as we went and helping us negotiate for the best prices with suppliers. His entire team is kind, smart, and respectful. They are the exact opposite of the macho, know-it-all contractors you sometimes hear about around Atlanta. When we asked a question they answered it and when we had significant changes to work orders based on new conditions found after demolition began, they really helped us try to figure out all of our options. I feel very lucky that Aaron was recommended to us and that we got such thoughtful, committed work from them from day one.

> Craftbuilt did an excellent job! Our addition is beautiful, the perfect space for entertaining. Architect Chris Smith worked to blend our historic home with the new space. Aaron McGinnis was responsive and professional. When an unexpected water leak occurred, Craftbuilt corrected the damage immediately at no cost to us. Gina McGinnis selected the perfect colors and finishes to help us complete the look we wanted. Thank you to the Craftbuilt team. We will definitely be using them again!

> We bought our house from Craftbuilt and have been so please! The entire buying process was so easy because they worked with us with any repairs and needs we had. They made really excellent choices for finishes, our home feels very modern yet comfortable and simple. Almost everyone who walks into our house just raves about how lovely it looks and all the nice touches! The best thing for me is coming home to a house that I know I don't have to fix anything on and I feel that Craftbuilt really made quality decisions with its workmanship. We love our house and thankfully because of Craftbuilt's excellent work it felt instantly like a HOME!

> The Craftbuilt team was a pleasure to work with on our home renovation. They assisted with everything from design to build, coming up with creative ways to maximize our space and create an end result with which we couldn't be happier. Our project included a full master bathroom remodel, replacing a front entry door, redesigning our fireplace surround and repairing/installing a gas fireplace. They were very good at offering advice along the way, recommending good sources for materials, and keeping the project moving even with our changes and additions along the way. Their trade professionals were courteous and detail-oriented, especially their tiler, Eugene Bancos. One note: their entire process is managed through an online system, so if you are not comfortable communicating and managing all details and approvals online, this may be a challenge for you. For us, it was primarily a benefit and provided great record-keeping. Aaron and Gina are also extremely responsive to calls, emails and texts.

**★★★★★ — dalesparrow, Sept. 2015**

> Craftbuilt folks are honest and dependable and do quality work. It is difficult dealing with the permit processing and they dealt totally with that process. They use a very professional web-based project management system. I was very happy with the finished product.

**★★★★★ — sig1cdc, Aug. 2015**

> Craftbuilt did a complete remodel of our kitchen, redid a study, and a staircase. We didn't really know what we wanted going into the project, but Aaron and Gina worked with us closely to make sure they got the right design for our needs. This was an older home, and they built something that was modern, but respectful of the existing style. They did an outstanding job, and kept us well informed along the way. The crew that worked with them were also very professional. We were very happy with the way everything turned out. We would have no reservation recommending them to you.

**★★★★★ — kdwscott, June 2015**

> My experience with the Craftbuilt team was by far the best I've had with any builder or contractor (and I've had quite a few). Everyone who came to my house was professional, friendly, and clearly an expert in their field. They were able to problem solve on the spot, but weren't 'shooting from the hip'. Their solutions were well thought out and clearly educated by years of experience. They even fixed some issues created by a prior contractor. Craftbuilt remodeled my main level while I was living in the home in a way that was minimally disruptive. The pricing was quite reasonable and the end result is fabulous! I would definitely recommend this team to anyone with a home project in mind.

  - Description: This historic district bungalow needed something special on top of an existing rooftop terrace. We were happy to oblige! 15' ceilings, beam details, and a Mitsubishi mini-split cooling system. We also have full R-38 insulation hidden in the attic system alongside a structural ridge beam. Because the project is in a UDC historic district, we had to be very careful to match the facade of the existing house.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Love the mudroom/laundry room.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me the dimensions of that room? Also, where is the door(s) and what does it lead to?

A: Sure! The room is 6x14. The picture is taken standing in front of the door, which leads out ot the foyer.

**Q: Traditional style 18" depth bath vanity** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are having trouble finding 18" depth vanities that we need for a 1920's bungalow. Finally found one traditional style on Houzz. Any suggestions on where to find a bigger selection to choose from?

A: Most custom or semi-customer cabinet manufacturers can satisfy this requirement. It's a bit harder if you're trying to buy off the shelf.

**Q: 1920's Hextile...keep or replace?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hextile in bathroom is in good condition....just not glossy white like the new subway tile will be. Do we replace with new, or keep the classic period nature of the original tile? This is the big debate... purists will likely say keep it. We are flipping this great house and it only has 1 bathroom, so it needs to really "speak".

A: That's a more involved question that it may seem on the surface. If you're moving any of the fixtures, there's a good chance you'll have to start cutting into the floor - which means that it will likely break up and you'll end up replacing it. Also, patching in original tile is almost impossible to do while keeping a clean appearance.

**Q: Who is the manufacturer of the ceiling fan in this photo?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This was a Hunter.

**Q: Beautiful kitchen! Love the granite! What color is it please?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This is Colonial White

**Q: Shake type?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What kind of Shake was used in the gable?

A: This was a cedar shake
