Having moved to rural Virginia last summer, I'd begun daydreaming about a shared home, a "we" home, for me and my long-distance beau of over three years. (He is the reason for my move.) Rather than buy a home, we'd been brainstorming the idea of updating and expanding his 1990's builder-grade ranch. It is a true bachelor pad, complete with spiders, their webs, dust bunnies, snakes of wrinkled towels and linens in a too-small linen closet, and a kitchen that looks more like a war zone than a food prep area. There is little room to entertain or host a guest, and as an artist, I seek a space to create my work. (There is none here.)
