Jeff was amazing at pointing out creative architectural changes we could do to make this home look upscale (but still on our budget) He created a fabulous floor plan using the originally structure, as well as the addition he built . Jeff held our hand all the way thru the prosses as well as his team of workers. The team worked together thru any issues & paid attention to all the details. Jeff & his team made an old grandpa cabin look like an updated amazing riverfront retreat. His crew put siding on my house. > > As soon as he had the check, he put his crew on it and was on to the next job. The crew did not speak English, which is fine, but I didn't understand up front how much I would need to be talking to them, because they were not managed by Jeff much at all. I would ask Jeff questions and he was surprised when I told him, for example, that the crew hadn't shown up that day... > > 1\. The first problem was when they blew an electrical breaker which controlled the outlets in my garage - freezer and sprinkler system. I didn't know (I assume they would have noticed they had to change outlets?) and they didn't tell me, and it took me awhile to notice. I lost the contents of my freezer, and my sprinkler system quit working. I was really upset and told Jeff -- and he gave it back to me with both barrels: how dare I accuse them of anything, they had no idea. I just don't believe this, because I noticed they changed the outlets they were using and thought it strange they had so many extension cords going to a single outlet... which is what made me eventually check. > > 2\. Then my dryer quit working suddenly. No way was I going to ask them about it after the electrical situation, and I had to wait a week before a repair person could come out. The reason it quit working was because they had sided over the dryer vent. When I told the crew (Jeff told ME to tell them!) they fixed it immediately, but really? They really didn't notice? And couldn't Jeff have dealt with it? > > 3\. I have asked several times to have the final junk hauled away (bits of siding, an old pitchfork and a ladder they left, and a window box from the teardown) and he told me he'd be out tomorrow... a few times now... > > 4\. The job did not pass inspection with the city the first time - even I could tell that the windows weren't sealed properly - and they had to come back and fix it. Which they did, very quickly. > > 5\. Small stuff, like putting the outside electrical box back on the siding properly has not been done. And it's obvious that it's just hanging there... so i'm having to chase them down on that. > > 6\. I asked for a cabinet to be made, which I have not paid for yet, but also is not done. I continue to push, and he's told me it'll be next week. Last time he promised it would be done by two weeks ago. > > 7\. The daily clean up was never done - the site was a mess the whole time. The after-job clean up was terrible - I was picking up the crew's lunch trash. My guess is that the crew was inexperienced, they had a very young guy on and I think he was likely the one making the mistakes. > > On a POSITIVE note - they found dry rot and fixed it quickly and did not gouge me on the price. > > His price was ok and the work got 95% done - but his service and communication were poor. I would not use him again. Have worked with another company to put a new roof on, and the experience was a lot better. > > However - the work got done, and I was not ripped off. Things go wrong on jobs and I get that; this could be a fluke. Stuff happens. > > Bottom line: if communication and clean-up are important to you - Jeff is probably not your guy. We hired Jeff to design and build a "lodge" addition to our home. He provided multiple creative suggestions that made the space what it is including how the beams were built, making it a sunken in room so the ceiling could be higher and coordination of the several different stones to make sure the fireplace was exactly what I had envisioned. Jeff and his subcontractors were all wonderful, cordial and respectful during the entire 3+ months of construction. I highly recommend Jeff and his team to anyone.
