Back in 2005 they built a porch for us and 6-7 years later we noticed that it was beginning to rot because they did various things improperly (i.e. installed the bottom railing upside down so that instead of shedding water it collected water and rotted the railings). They also didn't sink screws properly which every winter was a nightmare in shoveling the steps and was a danger walking on in barefeet. Back in 2005 they also put a second layer of asphalt shingles on my roof. With roofers doing some minor repair work, I am now discovering that that second layer they put on was nailed improperly and is structurally unsound. I'm now dealing with the reality of having to get a new roof and I'm dealing with more rot issues because of the crappy roof work. I'm really upset about this and will never, ever hire Valley Home Improvement again. We explained how we waited years to finally be able to start, and we discussed our budget, etc. Never heard back from Steve, weeks, then months after oir initial meeting. I touched base a few times, always in a pleasant manner, to inquire if an intial estimate/timeline could be discussed. Steve had one excuse after another-the most recent (recent being about a month ago) that he was going to a trade show, and would have the info within a week. I still haven’t received a phone call. > I completely understand things get hectic, and my husbamd and I are extremely patient, friendly, and flexible. However, to completelty blow off a client, is unacceptable and frankly, rude. From the design stage to the completion of final details on the punch list, Dan Bradbury at VHI showed that he was committed to listening to us, and making all necessary adjustments. Zac was our carpenter and he, as well as the other members of the crew, were always knowledgeable, pleasant, and very mindful of minimally intruding into our environment. Dan provided an amazing design for our kitchen-- we were blown away that our nonfunctional/small kitchen could look so amazing and work for us. We did not want to expand the footprint or change anything structurally, and he responded to our feedback. The final product? Innovative, clean lines, beautiful, modern-- it fits our home and style. VHI kept to the agreed timeline- no surprises. Everyone was very professional, tidy, respectful. Lead carpenter Zac was amazing and felt very comfortable having him greet us each morning. We did baths, kitchen, a new room, roofing, etc. They are knowledgeable about ALL areas of construction, and true professionals in all their interactions. The quality of the carpenters and the subcontractors was outstanding.. Dan Bradbury is a pleasure to work with and has a talent for design and a eye for detail. He resolved a issue with heating an area of the house that no one else had been able to fix. The result is both practical and beautiful. Working on an existing building can be challenging, but their problem solving was both structurally sound and creative. We could see that he enthusiastically represented Valley Home Improvement, having had direct experience with them for his own kitchen remodel. Our plans were for a kitchen and bath renovation and roof construction over our deck. Dan expertly guided us through the whole renovation process, from the design phase to the final details, simplifying tasks that at first felt overwhelming. > All V.H.I. staff that we met, worked with or spoke to on the phone were courteous and professional. They were considerate of our comfort and safety, as we had to live at our house during construction. > Our lead carpenter, Matt, was a master of his craft and a perfectionist. I was also impressed with the teamwork aspect. From the very beginning, they worked with us to create a design that fit within our budget and matched our aesthetic requirements. We had to go back and forth several times due to my desire to get it just right, and every time they were happy to re-draw the design and come up with a new budget. I also wanted them to finish it in time to have my kid's birthday party, and they worked extremely hard to do this. They showed up early every morning, they were respectful and kind and hard working even when it was 95 degrees. Surprisingly, they swept up and made everything look neat at the end of every day. Whenever we had questions or concerns they were willing to communicate with us for as long as it took for us to understand. And they were super friendly with my toddlers who still needed to play in the backyard among the construction! I was very happy with the finished project, it is a truly beautiful deck. With the complex design and geometry they did a perfect job, even with the difficult to manipulate Red Balau wood. I would not hesitate to hire them again!
