The focus of our work is mainly high-end residential. We have been designing the most beautiful modern homes and interior for many years, when they still were not as popular as they are becoming nowadays.

We don't do cold white boxes with some wood siding slapped on them so to call them "contemporary" or "modern".

We like to see the built environment with our own current eyes, which means with a contemporary objective attitude. While we all carry the seeds of our past experiences, the culture and world in which we grew in, every time we stretch the importance of having a fresh, open approach to a new, unique need.

As such, inspiration may well come from the lesson of history and nature around us, but also from the emotional power of an image from a movie, a novel, a trip and more importantly, from the psychological value that together we decided to endow a space with.

### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Joe, Oct. 2023**

> Davide is an excellent architect who worked with us on our home expansion project. He spent the time to understand our needs and preferences and then guided us through the design process to help us create our ideal space. Davide never dismissed our ideas, even when they were not feasible or optimal, but instead worked patiently with us to help us visualize what the space would become and tease out our real intent. His incredible design style helped us create a beautiful and functional space. We highly recommend Davide to anyone who wants to build their dream home with a kind, professional, and creative partner.

**★★★★★ — Misko Hevery, June 2023**

> One of the standout qualities of Davide is his ability to actively listen and understand our needs and concerns. He took the time to carefully listen to our ideas and aspirations for our home, and then skillfully translated them into a stunning architectural design. It was evident that he genuinely cared about creating a space that would not only meet our requirements but also exceed our expectations.
>
> Throughout the project, Davide exhibited an impressive level of flexibility. He understood that changes are sometimes necessary during the construction process, and he handled them with grace and adaptability. His open-mindedness and willingness to adjust the plans whenever needed greatly alleviated our stress and made the entire journey much smoother.
>
> One of the aspects we truly appreciate about Davide is his modern style, which resonated perfectly with our taste. His innovative design concepts brought a fresh and contemporary vibe to our home, while still incorporating functional elements that suited our lifestyle. It was evident that he had a keen eye for detail and an exceptional understanding of spatial dynamics, resulting in a harmonious balance between aesthetics and practicality.
>
> Additionally, Davide went above and beyond by assisting us in selecting the interior finishes for our home. His expertise and eye for design helped us make informed decisions, ensuring that every element contributed to the overall aesthetic vision. We greatly valued his guidance and found his suggestions to be invaluable in creating a cohesive and stylish living space.
>
> Furthermore, Davide took the time to patiently explain the entire architectural process to us. He demystified the complexities and intricacies, making it easily understandable for us as clients. His excellent communication skills fostered a strong sense of trust and transparency, as we always felt informed and involved in every step of the project.

**Comment from Acadia-Architecture Davide Giannella:**

> Thank you so much, Misko,
>
> It was honestly a pleasure to work with you and your family. I am very thankful for the opportunity to work on such a unique house. Thank you again!

**★★★★★ — Jesse Rodin, Sept. 2022**

> Over and over Davide exceeded expectations. He has a sophisticated eye. He listens, communicates clearly, and has great ideas. He adapts easily to different aesthetic preferences. He is a pleasure to work with.
>
> David is also really good at the nitty gritty, of which there is a lot when you’re building (e.g., permits, redesigns, and inspections). He worked well with our builder and found creative and effective solutions to problems that came up along the way. Above all, he guided the project from start to finish in a way that made it obvious that he cared about the final product.
>
> In short: hire him! You won’t be disappointed.

**Comment from Acadia-Architecture Davide Giannella:**

> Thank you very much Jesse. It was really special working with you. It's a special house and yard. Unique. Thanks for the opportunity.

> It is hard to put into words how much Davide has meant for our new construction project.
> Working as an architect, interior designer, and in effect as a hardscape architect, he has been integral to every decision that we have made.
> In the beginning of the process, we had to spend close to two years getting our design approved by the city. Davide worked tirelessly to help us navigate the process and even gave two separate presentations at City Hall, where we ultimately got our design approved.
> My wife and I have been very hands on and have made countless revisions and design suggestions to every square foot of the house.
> Davide has spent many hundreds of hours helping us to make the house as beautiful and functional as possible within our budget.
> He is extremely easy to work with and is always very responsive.
> He has said many times that he considers this to be "his house", and you can just see the pride that he takes in his work.
> I couldn't imagine working with any other architect, and I give him the highest possible recommendation.

**★★★★★ — Charlene Land, Feb. 2020**

> We contracted with Davide and Acadia to design a complete renovation and addition on our 1958 ranch-style home.
> Davide's style is modern and breath-taking. We chose him because we admired the designs on his web site and we're glad we did. Our design is incredibly beautiful.
> Davide is a good listener and easy to work with. His fees are reasonable and the payment schedule is known at contract-signing time.
> He worked with our budget to help us limit changes in some areas and make the most of where we wanted his designs to show through. He's been great working with the builder, structural engineers and Town. We can't say enough good things about Davide.
> Our construction starts soon; we can't wait to see the design come to life.

**Comment from Acadia-Architecture Davide Giannella:**

> Thank you so very much Charlene and Ian! I also loved working with you!

**★★★★★ — S B, Jan. 2020**

> We would highly recommend Davide and we have been extremely pleased with outcome of our remodeling project. His attention to detail and ability to incorporate your lifestyle into the design of your home is brilliant.
>
> Our house was a traditional house built on a hill slope and had a lot of complicated angles. Davide took up the remodeling as a challenge and transformed our home into a modern house with a lot of nuanced contemporary aesthetics.
>
> Davide very patiently understood our design sensibilities, our cultural background, our lifestyle and came up with a pragmatic design that did not compromise the vision we had. His communication was very clear and he took a very collaborative approach to finalize the design.
>
> Davide was totally professional thru the entire process and ensured that he met all his deadlines. Thru the entire remodeling process he was always available to answer questions, meet with the contractors and visit our home as needed to make sure that the design was not compromised. His dedication and passion reflected in his work and the outcome of our project.
>
> Davide is a very talented architect and i am sure that he will help you build your dream home as well .

**★★★★★ — Vivienne Tran, June 2019**

> We have hired Davide as our architect and also interior designer,he is responsible, working with him make us feel like a good partner in our business . He has an ethical business , he cares about his customer, he respects customer’s ideas, willing to deal with all kinds of issues happening at job site as well. Of course, building the house it’s never an easy job , we are lucky to have him to be a part , supporting, walking through with us to the whole project.
> Thank to Davide,

**Comment from Acadia-Architecture Davide Giannella:**

> Thank you very much Vivienne! It's been great working with you guys, I appreciate it!

**★★★★★ — Agnieszka Jakubowicz PHOTOGRAPHY, Jan. 2019**

> I have collaborated with Davide on several project over the last four years (he hired me as a photographer). I saw him consistently delivering to his clients beautiful, modern, thoughtful and functional designs. I have always enjoyed working with him personally and frequently heard good things spoken about him by his clients and other industry professionals. Commonly recurring praises are about how kind, professional and reliable he is.
> Design and build of a home can be very emotional and often stressful time given the amount of decisions needed to be made, the codes to comply with and contractors to deal with. Davide is a person that will help you navigate all of the above and guide you through the process while designing truly beautiful home. I could not recommend him highly enough.

**★★★★★ — Malini Vijayamohan, Dec. 2018**

> Davide remodeled our house. It was a small remodel comparatively. However, it was quite a challenge to give a facelift to the house. Davide came out creatively. The whole house entry feel very grand and gives a illusion that it is very massive, that part I love it. Also, the lighting to the house makes it very bright. On top of that, the exterior was given a facelift that makes the house as completely new. During the process, Davide helped in many phases like, clarification on any design, helping with interiors, giving suggestion on the materials. Also he is a perfectionist and that makes all the job look very good. Davide always makes time for any questions.

**Comment from Acadia-Architecture Davide Giannella:**

> Thank you so much Malini. It was truly illuminating working with you.

**★★★★★ — HU-463940288, Nov. 2018**

> While he was working on our dream house, we learned that Davide’s goal is to build human spaces that are in harmony with nature and the surrounding environments. He appreciates order and constructive chaos, practicality and impossibility, and habitats that allow people to express themselves in any given circumstance.
>
> Davide was committed to meet our needs. He was precise and quick to respond to our questions and concerns. He proposed unconventional solutions and ideas that suggested new ways of “living”.
>
> Davide worked with a social-psychological mindset that was tuned in to our sociocultural needs. He is a humble man who is not afraid to disagree constructively with his clients.
>
> Thanks for your work, Davide.
>
> Monica

**★★★★★ — Siri Aey, Oct. 2018**

> We are so grateful to work with Davide, he spent a lot of time listening to our wishes and incorporated his professional ideas into our dream home. The design came beyond what we expected, we cannot Thank You Davide enough for his works!
> Additionally he always gives us supports throughout the building process, we had to go two contractors (one left in a middle) but his professional advices are right on top giving directions to deal with all complications during building!

**★★★★★ — LEGACY CONSTRUCTION INC, Oct. 2018**

> I am a general contractor in the south bay and have had the pleasure of working with Acadia-Architecture on numerous occasions. As a contractor that has worked with many architects it is amazing to see the amount of thought and accuracy that goes into Acadia's plans. His design's are exciting and fresh and I love working on his projects because each one is unique. I can tell he has spent the time with the client to find out just what the driving force is behind doing the project and come up with great solutions to achieve the clients goals. The other thing that I appreciate about Acadia's work is his availability to come out into the field and address any architectural questions or potential deviations we want to make in the field. Acadia truly cares about the client's experience through the complete process of the project.

 - Description: This is one fortunate lot, with two soothing views, one across from the other. On the front, from up above, you could see the lights of San Francisco, while at the rear, a welcoming valley, showcases all kind of passing fauna and peaceful water bodies. The house scheme and plan thus becomes a C shape, with dual wings, connected by a bridge crossing the courtyard and affording an elevated walk along the panorama. - Description: We had a very small and narrow substandard lot on which only a single story was allowed. That led to the idea of a large roof terrace for entertaining and extra storage-mechanical for the house. We added a walkable glass insert flush with the terrace deck, which brings natural light into the house while providing a fun, luminous accent at night with LED lights for the people enjoying the terrace. We chose to have tall ceilings with upper clerestory windows to give a sense of a larger, luminous s…

 - Description: We like to think about this house as a ship. Perhaps because the substandard narrow long lot is flanked by a creek with tall concrete banks. But also because of its elongated proportions, its sharp quality (the long curved standing seam roof). The many projecting volumes also contribute to this complex composition of something almost mechanical. The narrow triangular daylight plane, the tight setbacks, maximum floor area, constrained many plan choices but also optimized the use of space, looking…

## Community Q&A

**Q: Did you switch the white tile color behind the sink?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I love how this shower is somewhat hidden by the beauty of the tile going up the back, and the side walls are white. Do you carry the same white squares all the way behind the sink? In the photo it almost looks like you switched to gray. Thank you!

A: Hi Ali , thank you for your kind words. The idea as you said was for the patterned gray tile on the floor to look like a rug that you unrolled all the way to the shower wall: this way the space looks continuous, almost without a demarcation of vanity area vs shower area.

The light gray tile (that looks like white) behind the sinks continues all the way behind the toilet and down to the floor, so to protect all the possible wet walls and again, to avoid having a rigid vertical seam of tile and Sheetrock where the vanity ends (as most would do). There was no other colored tile, it's all the same at the vanity and beyond.

**Q: how to get gravel to stay?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What happens to gravel if it’s accidentally driven on? Would it come out of the concrete and roll down the hill?

A: The gravel portion is only at the bottom of the driveway ( which is a mix of concrete and pebbles
and grass and in the picture it is not completed). The gravel seats on a geotextile sheet and has wood borders to keep it in place longer. There are also drains below which help the water not run the gravel away. Eventually it will have to be added on.

**Q: Love the glass railings.** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who built and installed these glass railings?

A: Classicalstairs.com

Design by Acadia-Architecture.com

**Q: White laminate glass on black frame?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Garage door

A: Yes, Aaron.

**Q: Where did u buy the tiles and countertop?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, So the owner of Marblecity, Andrei, procured the natural stone and countertops. Please ask him where exactly he sourced them from. Thanks

**Q: Mosaic/medallion** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material is used?

A: 3/8" I think, polished travertine
