Replacement with “good” plants was urgent. Information about native plants was abundant, but the complexity of matching plants to conditions of sun and shade, moisture, and soil types while attempting to arrange views of groups of plants of varying heights, colors and seasons was overwhelming. > > Beginning with an almost bare and shady space, Heather designed plantings to provide screening from public trails, a path to reveal the various aspects of the terrain, and low-care perennials to add color and seasonal variety. Does anyone know what species they are? A: leafcutter bee (Megachile) **Q: Is nanny berry a weed?** *(in Photo Questions)* In the Midwest we see nanny berry growing along the bike paths. Is has a wonderful scent. But some say it will take over and you cannot get rid of it. A: No, it's definitely not a weed but a beautiful native shrub. It has a suckering habit so it spreads forming small thickets. It has a similar form and grows alongside the invasive European buckthorn. I would think that is what is being referred to as the plant that is difficult to eradicate. **Q: Pollinator posters?** *(in Photo Questions)* Is there any way to download these? I sent it to myself and it just sends a link to the Houzz website and your page. I just got your excellent book. Is it some kind of mulch? I have a path of grass, not holding up to constant foot/paw traffic and this might do the trick.
