> We recently completed a major renovation of our 100 year old home using Dominic and Fairchild Construction (complete gut of attic and turning it into a master suite, reworking of stairs to the master suite and gut of another bathroom), and highly recommend them. The end product came out just like we wanted it and we feel like we are living in a magazine. Dominic and crew were careful, communicated with us every step of the way, and came up with creative solutions when we needed them. The quality of their work was impeccable (including built-in cabinets and shiplath at all sorts of angles). They were extremely considerate (and clean) throughout the process, and Dominic was really good with style suggestions and helping us make design choices. We would definitely use them again.

> Fairchild construction gut renovated our semi-detached home in a historic neighborhood in Washington, DC. Every piece of wood, down to the floor joists, was replaced, other than a historic staircase, which was left intact and expertly refinished. The job also required digging out a new 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom basement apartment (including underpinning), putting a two-story extension on the back of the house, turning a formerly unusable attic into a third story, repairing a 100+ year-old slate roof, replacing every inch of copper gutters, installing brand new plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems, and, finally, insulating everything. To complete the project, Fairchild re-graded the backyard, installed a drainage system, built a new 4' retaining wall, designed and installed 200' of craftsman-grade cedar fencing and hardscaped the yard with hundreds of square feet of bluestone. There isn't a single part of the project that could have been done better -- the house is almost too nice to live in. The owner of Fairchild, Dominic, is a professional in every sense of the word -- honest, communicative, prompt and incredibly knowledgeable about all aspects of residential construction, including the latest methods and materials. Perhaps most importantly, he is extremely fair on pricing. Our project encountered a number of unexpected conditions that expanded the scope of the project well beyond what we had initially agreed -- hidden earthquake damage, dry rot, buried dry wells (in the middle of an urban backyard!) -- and Dominic gave us fair pricing on all of the extra work. Dominic's team is comprised of skilled and friendly workers, and he uses only high-quality subs who are similarly focused on doing top-notch work. Dominic makes sure everyone is working efficiently and in unison. All of our neighbors keep telling us how impressed they were by the choreography of work that was happening at our house for the last 12 months. Lastly, Dominic has a keen design sense, which he used -- in consultation with us -- to supplement the inevitable limitations of the architectural plans we commissioned. It was a long 12 months, but we couldn't be happier with what Fairchild did. We recommend them without reservation.

> Dominic and his Fairchild team did a comprehensive make over of our 1880s Capitol Hill home. New kitchen, bathrooms, etc. We had a great experience. Costs were reasonable, craftsmanship was excellent. While a lot of contractors cut corners or skimp in certain areas, Fairchild is focused on long-term quality. I would highly recommend them.
