## Community Q&A

**Q: Backlit or frontlit LED mirror as primary source of light?** *(in Lighting)*

I am remideling a tiny bathroom with a 27” console, sloping ceilinfs and one recessed light. there is a side wall sconce that i would like to remove and wondering if either back or front lit mirror light would work as source of additional bathroom light. is one better than the other for general lighting.

thank you!

A: Hi @cmilo1021

For this mirror, there are 3 settings: 3000K/4000K/6000K

And yes it can be installed with a wall switch as the power source is hardwired so you can turn it on and off by using your wall switch.

However, you could only change the 3 different light settings by touch as shown in the video of the product listing.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions :)

**Q: Mirror help please!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are about 70% done with our secondary remodel - coming along great! It's a small space (5x8) and have a 24 inch vanity (dark wood). Used 12x24 tiles, light tiles will have chrome fixtures and accessories (towel bars, etc.) and it has a contemporary flair.. I need advice about a mirror. We have a great mirror shop who made our primary bathroom mirrors (with a brushed nickel appearance). Could we do something like that with chrome or would it just look tacky? Or could we used a brushed finish (even though nothing else has that finish)? Other ideas ?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

A: Perhaps you could go with a frameless mirror? or a dark wood color frame to match with your vanity.

**Q: Bathroom remodel** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are remodeling our master bath, we have selected a double sink vanity. The space between the sinks is approximately 36”. We need to select mirrors. The contractor suggested using 3 mirrors. I’m not sure if I like that idea. Lights will be above the mirrors. I thought maybe 2 larger mirrors and if needed glass shelves in the blank space or maybe art piece. Any suggestions helpful.

A: 3 mirrors does sound weird, either one or 2 would be good

**Q: Looking for mirrors and sconces to match Brizo's Polished Gold faucet** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am adding two new bathrooms and installing Brizo's polished gold faucets. Can anyone recommend wall sconces and/or mirrors to match/coordinate wirh the polished gold?

The first bath will have a black vanity, white sinks, white countertops and black and white marble floors

the second bath will have white hex floors, a light pink wall tile, natural wood colored vanity and white sinks.

Thank you!!

A: We have some gold framed mirrors that could potentially match. Or perhaps you could consider frameless ones.

I have attached some pictures for reference on some of our vanities and mirrors.
Hope this helps!

**Q: Acrylic Free Standing Tub.. are all brands the same??** *(in Remodeling)*

Looking to buy a free-standing tub for our master bath and super confused with all the options and price variations. Local shops have nothing less than ~$2000 but online we get abundant under $1000!
we are looking for a 61-63" long and as wide as possible. Would love to hear some suggestions and opinions on how folks you have bought this went by choosing one. Is online buying for this ok?

Here are few shortlisted options:

$899 - https://www.wayfair.com/home-improvement/pdp/castellousa-scarlett-63-x-30-freestanding-soaking-acrylic-bathtub-drvq1001.html?piid=44945340

$975 - https://www.birchlane.com/bathroom/pdp/diederich-62-x-28-freestanding-soaking-bathtub-b000771482.html

$1098 - https://www.wayfair.com/home-improvement/pdp/wcbtk156163mbtrim-wyndham-collection-juno-63-x-32-freestanding-soaking-acrylic-bathtub-wdx3957.html?piid=50480663

$1799 - https://www.wayfair.com/home-improvement/pdp/barclay-orrick-62-x-30-freestanding-soaking-acrylic-bathtub-bcy13096.html?piid=49479042

$1619 - https://www.signaturehardware.com/63-imler-acrylic-freestanding-tub3.html

A: Hi! I don't know where your local shops source their products from and other details of those so it's quite difficult to compare. We do sell locally as well but our prices would be consistent both locally and online.

We have many acrylic freestanding bathtubs that could possibly fit your need. I attach one 63 inch bathtub below for your reference. Feel free to check them out. Thanks!

**Q: Help updating master bath! Heating? Towel Warmer?, Tub, etc!** *(in Plumbing)*

We are planning a master bath renovation but want to keep costs down. We are empty nesters and resale is important in case we move in 5 years or so. Here are my questions:
1\. Heating: Bathroom is currently heated by toe-kick heaters under the vanity. They do a great job of heating but I can't store toiletries in the cabinet because all the products get really hot. What makes the most sense for heating the room, considering both cost and comfort? Are electric underfloor heating mats a good investment? Will they heat the room? Room is 12' x 11' with 10' high ceilings. Is there a brand that you like? Would installing a towel warmer be a good idea to heat the room? Electric or hydronic?
2\. Vanity: I need a 72" vanity. I like a transitional leaning towards contemporary look. Any recommendations on a quality vanity that isn't going to break the bank? I love the idea of deep drawers to hold tall hair spray cans etc and hair dryer. If not all drawers, then cabinets with pull-outs. Was hoping to get a dark wood vanity with white quartz top. Outlets in vanity a plus. Is Bertch a good brand? How about Vanico?
3\. Tub: I love the look of a freestanding tub but I've been known to slip and fall. I read that getting an undermount tub with a deck surround may be a smarter safer option for those prone to falling and also lets you age in place a little longer. Thoughts? It does seem like being able to sit down and swing your legs over is safer. I read in much older posts that the Kohler Underscore was a good choice for an undermount. These were old posts here so I don't know if there is something better. Please advise.
4\. Toilet: We currently have a toilet and a bidet. Was thinking of getting rid of the bidet and maybe getting a Toto toilet and later adding a washlet. Thoughts? Is the Toto Ultramax II recommended these days? I saw that in posts that were several years old.
5\. Medicine Cabinets: Any specific ones that are recommended?
I will post photos of my current bathroom. (They are a few comments down)Thank you in advance for your advice.

A: Hello! Maybe we can help with some ideas!
