> Millworks Construction Services in Winter Park is the worst company out there! Our family had nothing but problems with this company. We hired them to complete our log home after the log company set the logs, up to the point of getting a CO.  They said it would be an 8 month build and provided us with a cost estimate.  After 2 years and more than $100K over their bid we finally told them we couldn’t afford another penny of their unbelievable overcharges and we finished the rest by ourselves! They didn’t even know what they needed to complete to get a CO! Besides that, which was enough, a lot of their work and the work of their sub-contractors was shoddy and incomplete.  We had to finish or redo a number of things to fix their screw-ups!  They even failed the framing inspection and then charged us to fix the things that they were failed on!!  Several of their sub-contractors were not licensed, including two plumbers that they hired, the first one made off with $10,000.00 for about $3000.00 worth of work and Millworks made us eat that, they didn’t take responsibility for their own screw-up with that either!! I would not recommend them to anyone especially if you are building a true log home.

**Q: Is it Normal to Obsess over a Faucet** *(in Polls)*

Who would think you could have so much angst over picking a faucet.  I have pinned so many faucet looks I have lost count.  Sadly, even though its so pretty I doht think chrome Hansgrohe High Arc faucet works with all the warm tones in our kitchen.  Needless to say I thought I would be going all grey and white then. 
I haven't  narrowed it down since I like the stainless steel, matte black stainless steel and the gold. Surprisingly DH said he would be "ok" with the gold faucet, though he prefers the matte black/stainless.  I told him I would take it to the people :).  

The cabinets are going white and soffits are being trimmed, paint color is agreeable grey.  We are extending our hardwoods through the kitchen and eat-in.  We will be running the 2x8 bone crackle tile in herringbone pattern and where the sink is it will go all the way up. Please vote and let me know what you think and please voice any opinions I have to force myself to make a decision this week.

A: We see it all the time with our homeowners - it can be the day of closing and we're installing the faucet because it took that long to make the decision! It is a hard thing to narrow down, but good job on narrowing down you other selections!

**Q: before photos:  need help deciding on flooring** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Please help me decide on flooring in the new kitchen part of great room. Please note, these are BEFORE photos.  
I am redoing my kitchen in a coastal waterfront,  beach area home.  Exterior of house is white siding and grey roof.  Decorating has been influenced by the blue water of the  bay and greener water of the canal almost surrounding the house.  I will be keeping the existing Santos Mahogany in the rest of the great room.   Besides the wood floors I have a lot of different woods used as furniture and art throughout. The new kitchen will still feature white cabinetry. ( with possibly walnut accents) and glass. It is a total gut job and the kitchen will double in size,and will extend into the part of the room to the right of the existing kitchen in the photos (which now currently has a pool table.  ) Angled island will be replaced by larger rectangular island. Dining area will be made larger. I am not replacing the wooden floor on the rest of the space. The floor in the current kitchen space is unattractive porcelain tile. Obviously my first and  obvious choice would be to weave in more Santos mahogany throughout. The cons against this choice are that unfortunately it’s not a solid wood plank  Secondly  it shows every cat footprint, footprint, strand of hair, fur, droplet, smear, scratch, mark and smear.  When I use a wet swiffer  it just  shows every swiffer smear when dry.   In the kitchen area there are constant  spills and drips. I have always had  easy to clean ceramic or limestone tile in my kitchens and we are now talking about the possibility of putting tile into the new kitchen area. Yes, I know the Property Brothers  would be horrified at not having consistent flooring throughout. (But they don’t live here with cats and a constant stream  of messy, hungry houseguests .

Here in the high country, we also get a lot of questions for homeowners that have dogs and kids that are constantly running in and out of the house through mud and snow. The best solution we've found to hold up to all of that is hardwood floor tile. We get a lot of requests for the Emerson Daltile - take a look at a few examples of it in the below examples.

**Q: Laundry room / MAJOR update** *(in Before & After)*

This was a Simple project to bring life to a dated and hated laundry room , removed wall paper and carpet . Added all new built in front load washer with butcher block countertops. We added a natural black slate floor and subway backsplash

**Q: difficult fireplace** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I would love some advice for making over this beast of a fireplace.  The house is dark inside as it is and the fireplace seems to add to that issue.  The house is in the country but isn’t particularly rustic outside of this fireplace so I am hoping for something that can make the room look more updated.  I can put a few thousand into this project and am also decent at DIY. Thanks for your time!  Alison

A: What about a whitewash that lightens the brick, but also blends to look more natural?

**Q: What color(s) to pull from fabric and use in a neutral room.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This fabric is  on a chair & ottoman.  Everything else in the room is neutral beige: walls, carpet, drapes. 
A sofa is also beige, but darker than the other items and does have red undertones.  What color or colors should be pulled from this fabric and used elsewhere in the room?  I'm not sure I want anything red even though it dominates, more or less.  The reds range from barn red to very deep red.  I may purchase another chair... what color??

A: We agree with  JudyG Designs, that blue would be beautiful as an accent wall or throw pillows.
