1625 D/B is the result of three of NYC’s leading renovation industry professionals getting together and wondering: “ how can every facet of this process be improved? “

At 1625 D/B, we haven’t “reinvented the wheel,” but we have refined it.

After successfully executing thousands of NYC construction projects, we took a step back. We looked at what worked well. We looked at what needed simplification, streamlining, adjustment or elimination, and we recalibrated.

We believe that construction is a conversation.

The unique dialogue of any given project will involve communication between clients and architects, designers and project managers, between tradespeople and materials.

Our approach is rooted in a desire to build beautiful spaces and lifelong friendships with our clients and colleagues.

To accomplish this, we employ principals of full-transparency, unparalleled craftsmanship, meticulous project management, a profound depth of experientially acquired problem solving ability in every stage of the project, from building approval and permitting processes to granular construction challenges.

Simply put, 1625 D/B has the know-how and field-tested strategies to confront all obstacles related to NYC construction, whether inherent, or unforeseeable.

**★★★★ — Debra Meyer, Jan. 2026**

> I used 1625DB for my first ever home renovation! I had no idea what I was getting into but luckily I was in good hands! I can't say that everything, every step of the way went exactly as planned but from what I've heard that is to be expected. My home came out beautiful! I am thrilled would recommend this company. Having the designer with my contract was so important for my project since there were a zillion choices since it was a gut renovation. Jayani was a pleasure, very patient as I reviewed lighting fixture after lighting fixture until I found the perfect one (one's) ditto for tiles and the other choices.. I was very particular about what I wanted and never was made to feel bad about all my questions. The team knows what they are doing, were very responsive, for the most part we finished on time (there were some unforeseen circumstances as I was renovating a pre-war that had not been touched in ages). And a highlight- they have been here to help me with every question and tweak after the renovation- that has been SO appreciated!!!

**★★★ — No No, April 2023**

> Had a lot of bumps during this project but overall I’m happy with the results. I wish there would have been more handholding at the beginning, because there were a lot of switches that had to be made during the course of the renovation which could’ve been avoided.

**★★★★★ — Gandharv Bedi, Aug. 2022**

> 1625DB team did a great job with our UWS Penthouse Duplex. What started as a kitchen and 3 bathroom renovation turned into a lot more (almost full gut reno) and they completely delivered. Our project just like all others in the last year were hit with supply chain challenges but 1625DB team was awesome to work with as we navigated all those challenges and changes in scope from us.
>
> Special shout out goes to Alex Rouvas our project manager! He is amazing and words simply can not describe how awesome he was to work with. On point with his communication, thoughtful around what needs to get done - he brought an "owner" mindset to the project and delivered above and beyond!

**Comment from 1625 DB:**

> Thank you Gandharv & Sanya! We are pleased to know you enjoyed working alongside our Project Manager and team. Enjoy your newly renovated home

> JP from KBR was amazing to work with. We had never worked with an interior designer before so didn’t know what to expect but JP
> Made the process easy for us to understand and helped us each step of the way. She was also very receptive to ideas we brought to the table and worked them into the project in ways we wouldn’t have thought of. She was incredibly thoughtful coming up with material choices and kept our requirements in mind the whole way. During construction she was immensely helpful ensuring the work was done to spec and was committed to being sure we were happy. In short, JP was great and would love to work with her again. Five stars!

> We hired 1625 to renovate our new apt. on UWS.
>
> We had a great experience, as from start to finish... speaking with friends and family we expect a rough times but happy to say that with some understandable challenges it all went pretty smooth.

>
> When we arrived (one week before they were finished...), I was impressed with how clean our apartment was and the way everything came together!
>
> I can't even mention the amount of details we had in this project during the design phase , Sara was great staying on top of us and Billy with his team made it all come to live.
>
> Definitely the right team for the job!
>
> Thank you, 1625

> I worked with 1625DB last year removating my townhouse. It was a large undertaking but it was exciting and fun nonetheless. My husband and I enjoyed working with the team, both in the office and on site. I'm more than happy to recommend to my friends all around the city who need work done!

> I worked 1625 last summer on a renovation to my brownstone in park slope. Everyone we worked with was professional, punctual, and easy to communicate with. They treated my home with respect while working inside and were kind and sensitive to the needs of our neighbors and tenant. I would gladly recommend them in the future to friends and family for any renovation project, and look forward to working with them again on further work in my home.

**Comment from 1625 DB:**

> 1625 renovated our apt. on dec. 2018. The scope included a full gut renovation of our new 2 bedroom apt. We just moved to the city and looked for someone to help with our first home renovation... The team was lead by Yosi (who is a phenomenal builder) that helped us create our new home. From dealing with our new board to all the design and construction challenges we always felt 1625db is there to help and accommodate. We are grateful for choosing them and highly recommend there services and craftsmanship. Thank you 1625!

**Comment from 1625 DB:**

> Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We pride ourselves on offering the comprehensive full service package, and were more than happy to help you navigate the building approvals process (which can be an absolute drag to do on your own). I'll be sure to pass on your accolades to Yosi. Thank you for the opportunity to do great work in your new home!

> I recommend 1625DB without any reservations! Spending time between London and NYC, I needed an experienced Design Build/Project Manager firm to renovate my Manhattan apartment without me needing to be onsite personally to oversee the project. The 1625DB team managed the renovation perfectly without any problem, time delays or budget extensions. The project was well executed and met all of my expectaions. My husband was especially impressed by the outcome, with the attention their design layout, daily communicatiuon, materials selection and fine details of my apartment. It would be nice if we could find another firm of comparably quality for my London house!

**Comment from 1625 DB:**

> Hi Krista!
>
> Thanks so much for the positive review! We work often with clients who either don't live in the city, spend little time here, or who are renovating a pied-a-terre. Communication over long distances is tough, but utilizing the technology we have at our fingertips helps to keep that communication tight and productive. I'm happy to hear how happy you are with the final product. We'll let you know when we open the international branch!

> Extremely professional and very knowledgable. Everyone I spoke with knew exactly what they were talking about and if there was something they weren't sure about anything they thoroughly vetted the situation until they got a 100% clarity. I highly recommend working with them!

> We hired 1625DB for a complete home renovation and we could not be happier with the results! Our project manager was extremely professional, collaborative, and very mindful of what we were looking for. Our building is a prewar building and we wanted to make sure our apartment was more functional but still kept the character intact. They added great details that we never would have thought of, and all of the sub-contractors performed high quality work. I communicated with our PM and designer directly on a daily basis for 4 months and they were both very responsive, practical problem solvers, and overall incredibly nice people to work with! We absolutely love our new home!

**Comment from 1625 DB:**

> Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I'm glad to hear how happy you are with the communication from the team, the design and the overall final product. Working with older buildings is part and parcel with renovation in NYC, and I'm glad we were able to honor the character of the building the space while delivering functional, well working, and beautiful results. I'll be sure to pass your compliments over to the team.

> My wife Sandra and I hired 1625 D/B to combined to apartments to a SFH. This was a very large job with the removal of load baring walls and the moving of washer/dryer. They were great with taking all the correct steps to make the job flow along. 1625 D/B were on time, professional, and delivered with the finished job.

**Q: double vanity with drawers only** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where can I find this vanity pleas? It is just what I am looking for!

A: It was custom-made for the clients, feel free to reach back to us if we can help in any way

**Q: What is the clearance between the vent hood and range?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Want to do something similar in my own kitchen

A: Hi,

Thank you for your question, and we appreciate your visiting our website.

I can’t really tell specifics from this picture, but I”ll check and get back to you on that. Typically the distance of a hood form the range is 24”-36”, but it all depends on the manufacturer’s requairments and the BTU of the oven, or the power of the hood suction.

Best,
Omer

**Q: Help with DIY Project - Painting Antique Furniture** *(in Paint)*

Hi everyone! I've had a cute antique vanity and side table for 15 years and want to update them to give them a more adult, modern look. I am not good at DIY projects and don't know where to begin to make sure I do this properly. Every instruction or "how to" I find is taking a piece from bare wood to painted, but these have already been painted and are chipped in several places. I'd love some advice from someone who has upcycled antique furniture that's already been painted! Do I need to get all of the paint off? Just sand lightly? Is there a different type of primer I will need than if it was bare? Will I need an electric sander or just normal sandpaper or a sanding block?

I'd also love recommendations for primers, paints, and protective coatings. I want to do an antique matte black for both with brass hardware. I've added some photos to show my current white pieces and some inspiration for what I want the end result to look like!

Thank you!!!

BEFORE:

AFTER (HOPEFULLY)
I know these look more navy, but I want to do a true antique matte black. This is just for the idea.

A: You'll need to sand pretty agressively -- with a power tool if one is availble. The goal is not to strip, but to get the flakes of paint off and then make a 'rough' surface that paint will stick to. Then prime and paint. Painting with a brush once that's done will leave a streaky finish -- its not a high end solution, but spray paint would give the most even finish. Spray paint also looks MUCH better matte than brush paint.

**Q: Newbie here! Design help for our great room!** *(in Remodeling)*

Hi - first time homeowner and newbie to Houzz : ) We are re-figuring the great room in our new house. Posting a before pic- we removed the bulky built ins and covered the window so we can hang a large TV directly on that wall. The red tile on the left hand side will be replaced with wood to open up the room.
My question - what to do with the radiator? Thinking of having it recessed and centered
in the wall but worried it will prevent us from putting any storage in front of it. Other option is building a sleeker narrow cabinet around it to span the length of the wall, but we are trying to open up the space and I'm not sure if this will defeat the purpose. I welcome any input!

A: If you want to recess it and have a slimmer unit, I would recommend using Runtals. They are very pretty compared to other units.
For a cover however, you could do something slim -- see the photo attached for inspiration. We had these made for the space but they are very slim and can be painted to match the wall, which helps to disguise them.

**Q: Need Colour Suggestions for Master Bedroom!** *(in Paint)*

We are replacing the flooring in our bedroom in June and I’m thinking that now would be a good time to change our colour scheme in our bedroom. The walls are currently (for the past ten years!) BM Sundried Tomato. I’ve loved the deep colour and warmth that it brings. It’s also lovely with our honey pine furniture.

My ensuite is the same as when we moved in and it actually goes with our new whole house colour scheme of turquoise/teal, blues (BM Blue Echo and Smokey Green) and Revere Pewter. I think I’d like a colour that will flow better while maintaining a richness in the colour.

Would this colour that I'm attaching work with the furniture? I’m hoping to go for a more elegant feel but may be impossible to achieve as painting the furniture would be a marriage-breaker!

A: I agree that a green, or green toned grey would look great with the honey color. Though I would venture to change the bedding while you're at it!
