My project was a simple one...with my new roof still leaking rain water inside, after many attempts at reaching out for a "warranty" claim, they promoted as good for 24 months!! While the construction and painting were excellent, I am disappointed with the issues I encountered with the surround sound installation and the lack of responsiveness from the company. > > The project involved closing a window opening, creating a media closet, painting the room, hanging a projector, and adding surround sound speakers. The construction and painting were flawless, with great attention to detail and craftsmanship. We were so satisfied that we even paid extra for them to paint our kids' rooms, which was done to our satisfaction as well. > > However, we were disappointed with the surround sound installation. About a week after the construction was completed, we noticed that the voices in movies and shows on streaming platforms were barely audible or completely absent. While sound effects and music were clear, the dialogue was faint, significantly affecting our viewing experience. > > Upon researching the problem, I found out that a center speaker was missing from the installation. The contract clearly stated that the project included the necessary speakers for a proper surround sound system. I contacted the owner, John, who directed me to the Project Manager, Lino. Lino provided a link to a speaker and a quote for installation, implying that we would be charged for the additional work. This was surprising and frustrating, as the contract explicitly stated that the speakers were included. > > When I raised this concern with Lino, he claimed that the contract was misworded and they meant to include only four speakers. This explanation seemed unreasonable to me, as a binding contract should not have such glaring mistakes. I tried contacting John about the matter, but he ignored my messages, leaving the issue unresolved. > > The lack of accountability and responsiveness from Kang Construction/Design Media Construction is disheartening. I had considered hiring them for more work, but now I'm hesitant due to this experience. There were very intricate cuts that had to be made around the edges and it was difficult to put together. They did a great job. Check out the picture of the floor. > > We had a HUGE problem during this remodel and Kang and the team really came through for us. The vanity I ordered was in a big huge heavy box. The guys took it out of the box and brought it all the way up the stairs and set it in the bathroom. Then started looking at it and noticing all of the defects. This vanity was trashed. Badly cracked and damaged in several areas. There’s just no way I could use it. But these guys didn’t miss a beat. As I was thinking about if I should even ask whether or not we can send it back, they were taking it back down the stairs! They then took it all the outside where they rebuilt the box it was in. Once it was all put back together, Michael, our project manager for this project, put it in his truck, brought it all the way back to the store(30 minutes away), facilitated a return, got a new one and brought it all the way back. > > Once the job was done, I made the final payment, which is usually the last time you ever hear from a contractor. After cleaning the shower a bit, I finally was able to climb in and try it out. But there was no hot water! I knew to take the handle off and turn the anti-scald dial so the hot could open up more. But I couldn’t get it to work. So, I texted John and Brett and they sent one of the guys back over the next day to fix it. He replaced the valve and it was done! > > This is the kind of service that makes these guys special. I am a real estate investor and deal with contractors all day every day. Grateful for the opportunity. **★★★★★ — jj\_pipitone, June 2022** > I hired Kang contractors to remove and replace all of my siding, replace the sofit and facia board that was rotten, then power wash everything else we were keeping, paint the siding, trim, facia, garage door, shed and 2 back doors a totally new color and install new gutters. It was a huge job with lots of very difficult obstacles. > First of all, John Kang contacted me right away, and was able to come out right away. As I told him about my project and all of the obstacles, he had a plan for everything. John explained to me that they had all the equipment they needed, from ladders to super high scaffolding, so it would be no problem. He also came up with a plan to fish the scaffolding through the open louvres so they didn’t have to remove it and they didn’t have to walk on the fragile louvres. > Kang Contractors have a great electronic system where you review the estimate and the scope of work and then if you are ready to go forward with the work, you can pay the deposit and all the rest of the payments right online. > I had a 6 man crew at my house every day from 9:30ish AM to 6:00PM, Monday through Saturday until the job was done. John sent me a text every morning letting me know what time they were going to be there, what they were going to do and if he needed any materials. When he did need materials, he told me what we needed, then he went and picked everything up. > When I wanted to add something onto the scope of work, he didn’t fuss about it. He gave me a fair price and had the guys get to work on it. Changes in the plan were no problem. Once the work was done, he has a guy come out with a trailer and pick up all the junk and haul it away at a very reasonable price. Because we had such a great experience and they did such great work, I am bringing him back in a few weeks to do a bathroom remodel for me. If you have ANY work in your home that you need to get done, go ahead and get your estimates. It’ll help you sleep better at night. But call Kang Contractors last because they are the absolute best. John and his wife will take great care of you. Good help is so incredibly hard to find. Finding a contractor you TRUST and people that will show up on time, work hard and do good work is SO incredibly hard to find.
