> I engaged Hobnob for interior decorating of my home. This is a task that required extra care, as it amounted to completing the decorating that had been started by a well-known architect who used to live there. Angela visited the home a number of times, presented some interesting and unexpected options, and we ended up with some beautiful rooms that never fail to get a positive reaction from visitors. We have some more rooms to work on and will use Hobnob again.

> Angela has great taste and was so helpful. We had been struggling with getting our place to feel like a home for years. Angela was so easy to talk to. She listened to our needs and put together some really beautiful designs with a variety of choices from some great companies. She has redesigned four rooms in our home and we're thrilled with the work she's done.

> Hobnob came to me through a good friend and what a great discovery! We had just put an addition on our home - kitchen/family room... I needed window treatments, window seat cushions and pillows and also had an area that was in need of something...I just wasn't sure what. Angela from Hobnob came in and guided me through the entire process. She immediately understood the look and vibe I was trying to achieve and had an amazing selection of fabrics to choose from. She also came up with a very creative and well styled plan for our one area of question, a wall of beautiful wall paper with a matching roman shade. The window treatments for the different areas of our space were carefully selected to compliment what was going on in that area - as an example, there is a small room with a dog wash sink, the window above now has a roman shade with a dog print, very subtle in shades of gray and black. The window seats came to life with the selection/combination of fabrics for the cushions and pillows, they are almost works of art. She was timely in her delivery, kept me in the loop through the entire process and was a total pleasure/joy to do business with.

> Angela is just amazing. She knows exactly how to measure and meet each client's needs. She has a fantastic eye for detail and her taste is exquisite. At the same time, she's sensitive to budgetary constraints and works WITH the client (rather than taking over as some want to do.) We bought a nice home--Angela made it a beautiful one. We keep inviting her over as every visit brings about another level of perfection.

> We hired Angela as our designer when we moved from Silicon Valley to the suburbs outside Philadelphia. Because we had moved from a small home to a large one, we had a few rooms which were complete blank slates. The main areas she helped us with were the formal spaces: entry, dining room and living room. She spent a lot of time with me trying to figure out what we wanted for these spaces and determining a palate of color, texture and materials. She worked very flexibly within our budget and few existing pieces. She brought me to many different local (and extended local) shops for unusual pieces and quality furniture which fit our aesthetic and interests.
>
> In addition, Angela consulted with us on new paint colors throughout the house, helped shop for decor items in various rooms and generally be a fantastic design sounding board.
>
> On top of it all, Angela is a very pleasant person to work with; always patient, kind and intuitive. I would recommend her for any interior design work!

> Angela Heitecker of Hob Nob Design is a master of the fresh, finishing touch. Her commitment to her clients and their homes is obvious. I highly recommend Hob Nob!

**★★★★★ — camacstreetpartners, April 2012**

> Angela Heithecker of HOBNOB was our primary interior designer for a very upscale, sleek restaurant in Center City Philadelphia, now called Vedge. The site was historic, with a long history as an old school destination in Philadelphia. HOBNOB did an amazing job of melding new, handmade, high style elements (wallpaper, lighting, bathroom fixtures, surface treatments, etc..) without tearing the historic fabric and for a reasonable price. The result is sensational and is the focus of customers' and journalists rave reviews. The result is absolutely stunning. Hire her now.

**★★★★★ — ellenlutz1, April 2012**

> Angela Heithecker of HobNob Design is a delight to work with. She patiently worked with my husband and I as we decided how to create more warmth in our mid-century modern home. Her vision and ideas and choice of fabrics and decor were right on target, and she made herself accessible to us as much as possible. She is an expert in home decor, and I would recommend Angela to anyone who would like to create warm, inviting spaces in their home.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Need help improving curb appeal** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'd welcome any ideas on how to improve the appearance of our plain but functional country home. We changed the white paint to orangey brown about 5 years ago and replaced the upstairs windows with bigger ones. Two years ago we replaced the old stockade fence with the one in the photo. I'd still like to do something to make the house more distinctive, without breaking the budget. Any suggestions?

A: The improvements you made look great! You may want to consider removing or reducing the bush by the front door and add lighting to the front entryway for a more dramatic look at night. Best, Angela.

**Q: need help with paint colors for foyer/hall, kitchen/family room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

An exploding water heater in our attic resulted in us having to paint much of our home. I have tried and tried to come up with a pallet and consulted so many of the different comments from other Houzz users, but I am STUCK. AND, I need to make a decision within 24 hours. Here is our layout:

Our home faces west so we get a lot of morning sun in the kitchen/family room that comprises the back of the house. In the afternoon, we get sun in the two story foyer and hallways. The spaces that need to be painted are contiguous with one another. furnishing and carpets (they are excellent quality persians) stay for now. The sofa will eventually be replaced to something more neutral and kid-friendly. The colors on the walls in the kitchen and familyroom are horendous. I hated them as soon as they went up and I'm using the recent event as an opportunity to put something on there that I like. The current colors on the wall in the kitchen and family room are BM Monroe Bisque (too yellow looking, don't like it) and Shellburne Buff (very mustardy looking...hate it). The foyer and hallway was supposed to be SW Ancient Marble but was matched incorrectly and has more green so it looks a little minty in the sunlight (but I loved it).

My favorite place to be is the beach but I don't want a beach theme. I'd love to lighten up the colors in the back of the house and have tried SW Sea Salt but it almost looks baby blue and doesn't work. I'm all over the place. My gut tells me that I should go neutral and then bring in my favorite colors in accessories or draperies. Incidentally, the persians have almost ever color in them.

I would be most appreciative for any help you can offer in such a short period of time. And you will see from all the paint swatches that I clearly have no thoughts.

A: You mentioned lightening up the color, but the swatches visible in the photograph all appear rather dark. I would highly recommend starting with the white spectrum, then move down into a color that you like; instead of choosing a color you like and attempting to make it lighter. Your floors and kitchen cabinets have red tones, and an evening sun will also be warm.. You may want to soften and coordinate with a moss color green. I hope that helps, Best, Angela.

**Q: Ideas for furnishing large room** *(in Design Dilemma)*

These pictures are of a room above the garage (over 400 square feet). Need some ideas on how to furnish. The large blank wall has outlets for tv

A: Great light! How you furnish would of course depend on how you intend to use the space. With the TV hook-up, I assume it will be used as a den/family room. You may want to consider arranging multiple seating areas - one for TV viewing and maybe one around a large, low coffee table for board games. A sectional sofa and large comfortable chairs would be the correct scale for this size room. The two rugs in the photograph would also work well in helping to define two seating areas in the room. Best, Angela.

**Q: Where did you find the framed map? So cool** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: From Mexico City, rolled up with other school maps from the 1950's.

**Q: need advice on blinds/curtains** *(in Design Dilemma)*

what kind of curtains and or blinds to put on round (3m high/wide) window? Or the smaller one in the kitchen?
Thank you
Maja

A: The answer would depend on why you feel a need for window treatment on such a lovely window. You might want to consider a curtain wall, floor to ceiling, falling in front of the window seat. This treatment would not obstruct the architecture of the round window when the curtain is fully open and pulled to the sides. When closed it would make the dining area more intimate. Two recommendations if you consider this approach. 1. Use a thin, light weight fabric so it doesn't "bunch" when open. 2. Consider a subtle organic pattern to balance your geometric theme (I'd recommend Galbraith & Paul). Best, Angela.

**Q: Help anticipating paint color shift with new windows,** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm picking paint colors for a whole house renovation. The colors I chose before the new windows were installed look completely in the light through the double pane windows with lowE. A slightly orange yellow turned pink! Are there any guides to help me anticipate the effect of the new windows so I don't waste time and money at the paint store?

A: The most important consideration would be the direction the windows face. Morning light will be cooler and afternoon sun will be warmer. Decide if your color preference will be to contrast or coordinate with the light you will be receiving and then consider how the light will reflect on the chosen color. Best, Angela.
