> Diane Clay has an excellent eye for colors and how they fit into the scheme of your home. I worked with her on my bathroom remodel, which turned out beautifully. She also helped with the wall color on the rest of the house, inside and outside, which turned out wonderfully. I am currently working with her on a kitchen remodel which I have no doubt she will lend that careful attention to detail and color expertise to make the project excel. I would highly recommend her for any design project. My kitchen project is not complete yet but Houzz made me put a date on this recommendation.

> Dianne did a complete renovation of my home several years ago, and it turned out beautifully. More recently, I moved into an apartment and she decorated it. Everyone who enters remarks on how beautiful and cozy it is. What Dianne is especially good at is understanding the tastes and goals of her clients. She does not impose her own tastes on others. She is also wonderful at finding unique, but not expensive, pieces of furniture or art to enhance a living space. Dianne is easy to work with, friendly and great at what she does.

> Diane and her incredible team of professionals did a complete remodel of our kitchen and the work is impeccable. Her contractor, Ty Valadez, is a perfectionist in his work, and has a team of professionals second to none. Diane checks on her jobs daily and provides input that adds to the beauty of the completed project. We will definitely use her services again

**Comment from Dianne Clay Interiors:**

> Thank you Jay & Kathy! Your kitchen turned out so well, and I'm glad that Ty and I were the team you chose for the project. We look forward to helping you again with any future updates.

> Did a outstanding job for me on my personal home. Very knowledgeable in all areas of updating and remodeling. Saved me from make some poor /costly mistakes. Allowing me to not only stay under budget but do more then I had planed on doing. Plan on using her on all my investment property's in the future

> My wife and I have known Dianne for many years outside of her interior design business. We finally had an opportunity to seek her assistance in remodeling much of our home. We started with just the master bathroom but were so excited about the results that we completely renewed the other two bathrooms, the kitchen, most of the flooring and had new paint throughout. Although my wife and I have good eyes for general design and decor, Dianne took us to a whole new and higher level while recognizing our likes and dislikes. Her suggestions really made the house look like something out of a design magazine without going overboard on either the design or the budget. In fact, she was able to negotiate granite and plumbing fixture prices to save us a lot of money. Her contractor and all of his workers were terrific, too. They were most competent, trustworthy and kept the house far cleaner than we had anticipated. Schedules were made and kept. Dianne's fees were worth every penny and then some. The total costs came in on budget and were also well worth it. I cannot imagine being happier with the entire job; especially when you consider how stressful such matters can be if you do not have someone like Dianne.

> Our experience with Dianne Clay Interiors was nothing but exceptional Dianne not only listened to all our needs and wants but had wonderful ideas that gave us our dream kitchen and updated fireplace. She was also extremely helpful when shopping for all the elements of the projects. Dianne has partnered with an amazing contractor Ty Valadez who made the remodel run as smooth possible . I would highly recommend Dianne Clay Interiors

**Comment from Dianne Clay Interiors:**

> Thank you Becky & Rick! It was a pleasure to help you with this project, and we're so happy to know that you are pleased with the results.

**★★★★★ — Angela Hoeffler, June 2017**

> We remodeled our 1980's master bath and Dianne was fantastic from start to finish. She listened to our wants and needs, and working with our budget, she incorporated a beautiful design. There were structural surprises along the way that required some changes, but Dianne was always prepared with new ideas or design elements. We met at many locations to choose fixtures or lights or flooring, and she always had selections ready for us to see and/or suggestions that helped pull it all together. Her ideas and recommendations were invaluable when all those choices can be overwhelming. Dianne's contractor, Ty, is the best. He has a crew that could not have been more courteous and professional. They did not cut corners with quality and any questions or concerns were handled promptly. In addition to being a really nice guy, he kept the process running as smoothly as possible. The cleaning crew that scrubbed our house at the end of the project was a great touch too!
> Without hesitation we would work with Dianne and her team again.

**Comment from Dianne Clay Interiors:**

> Thank you Angela & Gary. It means so much that you are happy with the results! Ty & I are looking forward to helping you with any future projects.

> We only have high praise for Dianne and the quality of her work. Professional and highly qualified. She LISTENS!!! Dianne has great ideas and can problem solve solutions to issues that surface during renovations. Not only is she knowledgeable and personable, she works hard to stay within any budget and contributes multiple ideas for consideration. We've worked with Dianne on a kitchen renovation and just recently asked her to help with two bathrooms. We love them!! They turned out beautifully!! She supports local businesses as much as possible. We hope to hire her again this fall to help with a third bathroom. She is an excellent resource to any project. You won't be disappointed!

**Comment from Dianne Clay Interiors:**

> Thank you Velma! You and Oscar are a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to helping with your next project.

> We hired Dianne Clay to redo our small kitchen in our hand-built underground house. She brought on board a contractor, Ty Valadez. They worked together very well, and their communication and punctuality with us was excellent. Because of our unique house, they worked together to solve some unusual problems to give us a kitchen we love and fits with our house. Also, the crew they brought into our house to do the work was professional and were all people we did not mind having in our house. Dianne's manner was professional, and I felt comfortable with her from the very first phone call. Also, she went out of her way to find tile and lighting fixtures that were difficult to locate. She really listened to what I wanted but was willing to suggest alternatives that I would never have thought of. She relieved a lot of the pressure that comes from a remodel. I am so glad we hired her.

> Dianne helped us design our recent master bathroom remodel and the result is beautiful. This was our second major project with Dianne (she did our kitchen several years ago) and we could never have done it without her. She has a great eye for design and color and was instrumental in pulling everything together. She really went above and beyond when we were picking the tile and counter material - she did all the legwork and didn’t blink an eye when we changed color direction in midstream. She encouraged us not to rush into a decision until we felt it was right. There are so many choices to be made during a project (such as light fixtures and hardware) and it was very helpful to me that Dianne would curate a selection that I could choose from. In addition, Dianne works with a number of excellent vendors and contractors who ensured that everything went smoothly and looked great – for instance, our custom cabinets are gorgeous. We really appreciated her attention to detail. She’s also a good project manager who kept things moving, kept us updated, and stayed within our budget. We would not hesitate to work with her on our next project.

**★★★★★ — seo20, July 2016**

> We recently asked Dianne Clay to design a kitchen lighting project for our home. . . I wouldn't have considered asking anyone else! Dianne has done several remodeling projects for us in past years, including large master bath and kitchen projects. She's got a keen eye for design, and the good people skills needed to coordinate the design and construction phases. We've always been thrilled with the quality, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of the results. When we did the kitchen project a few years back, we wanted to keep our kitchen cabinets, so Dianne designed the rest of the kitchen (countertops, backsplash, etc.) to suit the cabinets. Also, at the time, we didn't want to re-do the lighting, so now's the time for that!!

  - Location: San Antonio, TX

  - Description: The original galley kitchen (while oversized) still presented space issues because the client really wanted floating shelves in the new kitchen. We solved this issue with the floor to ceiling cabinetry unit which opens on both sides. This unit serves two purposes. Storage space, and the unit itself creates a visual divider between the kitchen and master suite which is right beside the kitchen.

  - Description: We doubled the size, and made better use of the space by removing a center peninsula and incorporating the the entire breakfast area into the redesigned kitchen. The sink was moved to a center island which also incorporates bar height seating. A niche was added within the custom cabinetry, so that the client was able to use her current microwave

  - Location: Shavano Park, TX

  - Description: An under-stairs closet was the perfect location for a wine vault that the client had always wanted in his home. Rock veneer was used on the entry wall, and a few pieces of that same rock veneer were added to the curved wall, along with foam, light-weight plaster and faux finishing to provide the appearance of a vintage wall. Internally, beautiful wine cubicles and shelves were installed along with with a climate controlled cooling system. A glass and iron door add to the charm, along with the fi…
- [European Style Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/european-style-kitchen-pj-vj~1868282)
  - Location: San Antonio, TX
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: This kitchen was completed for a client who spent many years living abroad in Europe, and she wanted a kitchen that was evocative of that style. In Europe, kitchen cabinets are often contrasted by painting one set and staining the other, as displayed here. The Saltillo floor tiles were a product of the original kitchen, but the client loved them and wanted to keep them integrated!

The refrigerator was relocated, and custom cherry cabinets were installed. Natural travertine stone was selected for the floors and 3 x 6 Botticino marble was used for the back-splash along with a marble blend deco accent. A pass through window was also added in order to provide some site-lines between kitchen and family room.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Ugly red aluminium joinery! Any suggestions?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hey everyone. We have looked into getting our joinery re-coloured but the quotes are ridiculous. There are only a couple of companies here in Auckland that offer the service. We are talking not that far off 20k! We are considering painting this summer and we are wondering about what colour we could do the exterior to at least stop the windows being such a stand out. I want to paint the red gutter (and garage door) a darker grey than the roof to reduce the hat band look. Not so sure about what to do with the walls. The white is too stark. It needs to work in with the brick on the bottom story. Any suggestions gratefully received.

A: I agree with Sharon - the gray family is the right way to go. Make sure that they are "warm" toned grays.
