I have owned 12 homes over the past 20 years so my understanding of the building business is very strong. We were very disrespected and had to hire an attorney. Vision was able to accomplish all of our design/ construction requests and was very fair on pricing. Our Construction Manager, Billy, was easy to communicate with and cares about his projects. Billy kept the jobsite clean, timely corrected any subcontractor issues, and sent weekly progress updates. Vision's designer, April, was very organized and supported us in the finish selection process. Building a custom home does not go without hurdles and some surprises, but at the end of the day, Vision wants their customers happy and were willing to make everything right. Mike manages his team well and is willing to jump-in as needed. Their approach in which the selections and cost details were worked out at the earliest stage with Mike proved to be very effective in terms of fewer changes and unforeseen cost over-runs. We enjoyed working with their designer, April, on making our selections and, while we deviated quite a bit on flooring, shower tile, and cabinetry compared to the normal allowances, The Vision Group team (Mike and Suzette) were accommodating and the associated extra costs were reasonable. Living out of state, we found everyone to be helpful in meeting with us on our schedule when we visited and Steve consistently sent us weekly pictures so we could see the progress. He and Kevin were always happy to provide explanations and answers to any of our questions. The quality of workmanship is very good, there were no known issues with neighboring property owners during the construction process, and it was completed in what we think was a very timely period (8 months from permit issuance). One thing we would have done differently would be to obtain additional landscape proposals. This project was one of those circumstances. The project timelines were not kept and the project manager was terminated from The Vision Group a short while after this home was completed. We are both surprised and saddened that this review is only a 1 star review and that the complaint seems to focus on a sense of value not received. Although we do not recall (nor have record of) ever hearing any complaints about this job, this is certainly not something that we will allow to happen again. In fact, we would like to thank the client for allowing us to show this beautiful home numerous times to other prospective clients. Although Mr. Squitieri did request certain upgrades that he felt as though were beyond his budget. These upgrades were changes from the contract specifications, and deemed as optional. In order to alleviate the budget issue, we made allowances for Mr. Squitieri to do the labor portion himself, as requested, because of his trim skills history. Although this is a very rare thing for a builder to allow, The Vision Group made allowances for it, because that's what a quality custom builder does. Unfortunately, this apparently was not enough to satisfy our client.
