> We worked with Joanie on several projects over the past few years. She is professional and easy to work with. She has really great taste and recommends the best people to implement the work. She basically helped us with our entire house, including paint selection, furniture/decor and bathroom remodels. She always gave us stellar advice and we were always happy with the outcome.

> I hired Joanie for a remodel of an apartment in an older building, looking for a professional with work experience and resources in Denver, CO. I wanted to be very involved in the decision-making of my project for the end result to feel centered around my tastes and preferences. Joanie gave me the room to do this always with her professional eye on the project. She had knowledge and experience with the top professional resources in the city, connecting us with all necessary subcontractors for kitchen, baths, carpets/rugs, furniture, lighting, window coverings, etc. She was efficient with communication and deadlines, precise with orders, always responding quickly with an attitude of genuine interest and concern for the direction of the project. Her biggest help came in the kitchen suggesting an all-white, clean and modern look. This was new to me and ultimately it has proven wonderful in its simplicity. She always stressed simplicity, something a novice should heed! At the start, I had no end result in mind and she was able to help shape my ideas into its ultimate design, a place to call my own.

> Joanie has worked with us on several projects over the course of the last 10 years and has been great to deal with. She has a great eye as well as experience to help see large projects through to completion. As a subcontractor, I have also always appreciated Joanie's communication during the process and I am sure she is doing the same thing on the customer side of the equation as well. She is top notch!

> Joanie was a blast to work with! She contacted me to collaborate on a Loft Deck Design in Downtown Denver. She allowed me to create and work one on one with the client on this project. She allowed me to give her feedback on the client's expectation. Joanie was very open to listening to the needs of the customer while also being firm in setting a direction to keep the client focused to their expectations. She was a strong collaborator. I look forward to working with her in the Denver Market in the future.

**★★★★★ — Cam Daniel, Aug. 2015**

> Over a year ago I was moving into my first condo and Joan helped me tremendously picking out furniture that fit my budget and needs. Not only is she an amazing designer but has one the most beautiful souls I've ever come encounter with. Her and her mother I hold close to my heart for not only what they have done for me but what Joan has taught me about myself over the years. I'd highly recommend speaking with her about any of your design needs.

**★★★★★ — tilek, Aug. 2015**

> I have worked with Joanie on numerous projects, with varying levels of finish. She is exceptionally creative and always keeps her clients wants and desires at the forefront, instead of HER wants and desires. She is responsive, efficient and a pleasure to work with.
> I highly recommend her!

**★★★★★ — User, July 2015**

> In my career in landscape architecture & design, I have endeavored to create landscapes that are, if nothing else, living extensions of not just the homeowner's style and sensibility, but also of the home itself. Any outdoor design effort suffers if it loses focus on the living space it is meant to enhance. Over the course of my relationship with Joanie, I have been consistently inspired by her expertise in helping her clients reimagine their homes and living areas not merely as a cluster of interior spaces, but rather as balanced, beautiful living environments in perfect harmony with the colors and textures of their surroundings. Beyond her originality and expertise, Joanie's candor, professionalism and vivacity bring to her projects a special quality I cannot imagine finding elsewhere.

**★★★★★ — Ken Elliott, July 2015**

> Joanie is a consummate professional, expert at getting the large project picture and details right. She's very gifted at pulling together a great design with those unique and comfortable pieces, scale, color, and proportion. She is the reason why people hire great designers.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Help ASAP! Need to paint NOW to sell house (Bedrooms/Bathroom)** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have honey oak trim...please tell me what neutral colors to paint in these rooms that appeal to buyers (I prefer Behr paint because I have a gift card for it but open to Benjamin Moore or Sherwin-Williams paint). I don't care what the colors are...just as long as they coordinate with the trim. See pics below. Note that Master bedroom has new bedding/curtains (natural/khaki). I think I could leave Master as is and just paint two smaller bedrooms same neutral color? Thoughts? The bathroom has to be painted no matter what, but realtor suggested different color than the green in there (like beige). Also, all carpets are being replaced by Empire Carpet (probably light beige?). I know gray is hot right now in my area, but the honey oak doesn't go well with grays (too cool a color, right?).

Bedroom 2:

Bedroom 3:

Master Bathroom:

A: Keep it simple. Use Sherwin Williams Kilim Beige - SW6106. It's a great color and I've used it often when staging a home for sale. Don't forget to de-clutter! Good Luck! PS - Get rid of curtains!

**Q: Yay or nay on the red wreaths for kitchen?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are hosting a holiday party soon and are trying to get the house in order with all the holiday decorations. Thoughts on these red wreaths on the refrigerator and freezer doors?

A: What about moving the wreaths and placing them over the windows? This way they won't interfere when opening and closing the refrigerator and freezer. Move the topiaries and add candles to the counter/table.

**Q: Foyer update question/suggestions** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are working on updating our foyer. We have hung a beautiful 58"X58" oil canvas picture on the 12'X18' wall. That is the only picture on the wall. We followed the 'rules' (57" center and go from there) of hanging the picture, but it still looked too low, so we raised it up another 8 inches. Anyway, we want to put a table under it, but not too many tables we like are 60"+ inches. There are many tables 60" or less we like but don't know if this would look right having a table width less that that of the picture. This table will not have a lamp on it. Rather we would put a lamp on another table that will go on the other side of the foyer in the corner (see pictures). Any suggestions/opinions are very much appreciated.

A: PS - move the little picture to a better location. I can't tell if this is a floor vase or could it be transformed to hold umbrella's and walking sticks by the entrance?

**Q: Is this real stone or engineered?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Emily, This is dry stacked stone that was hand cut.

**Q: Who makes the foyer light? Gorgeous!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Emily, This is a Fine Arts Chandelier

**Q: Copper sink** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where would you find this sink?

A: Native Trails produces a great product. Trough sinks are really cool! I love an copper sink for the kitchen because its organic qualities.
