> Susan at Studio Q designs was amazing to work with! She helped me bring the vision I had for my dream kitchen to life and I absolutely LOVE it! Susan has tremendous knowledge of all aspects of kitchen & bath design, so she can help with a small remodel project (like our daughter's bathroom remodel) all the way up to a total gut/expansion job... like our KITCHEN was! In addition, Susan is knowledgable in all other aspects of a home remodel and has relationships with great contractors & suppliers. She is very easy to work with and makes every client feel like they are her priority. She is very thorough and detailed oriented, she has a great design sense for any decorating style, and she is fairly priced for the high quality service she provides. I highly recommend Susan at Studio Q Designs for all you remodel needs!

**★★★★★ — M Jordana, Sept. 2017**

> Susan has done our friend's kitchen/bath, our kitchen, our rental's kitchen and our cousin's kitchen/bath in Sacramento, CA.
> She knows her stuff and has a great eye. I recommend her to anyone who asks for renovation help because I know she will do a wonderful job. No regrets and only relief that we have used and recommended her.

**★★★★★ — julie sproull, Sept. 2016**

> Susan was very helpful in helping us design and find quality products for our kitchen and bath remodels. She was very professional and knowledgeable.
> She worked well with other contractors. I would highly recommend her and would use her again.

> Words can not express how satisfied we are with Studio Q's design for our kitchen! When designing for us, it was as if Susan knew exactly what we were thinking. She nailed our vision in every single detail, 100%!! Studio Q revived the heart of our house and brought it back to life, the life it should be living!

**★★★★★ — ProSource, Nov. 2012**

> I've worked with Susan in selections of furnishings and finishes for several projects. Susan really listens to her clients and is able to find the perfect and unique products for their homes. Her depth of knowledge is extensive from "period" styles to current trends.

**★★★★★ — jponziani, Oct. 2012**

> I hired Susan Quackenbush and Studio Q Designs to design and execute a complete interior remodel of my home. I am thrilled with the outcome, and am planning to have her and her firm do additional work for me in the future.
>
> Specifically I found Ms. Quackenbush to be honest, professional, dedicated, and extremely hard working. She treated my home as her own, and would not settle for anything less than excellent work from her sub-contractors.
>
> From a design perspective Ms. Quackenbush listened to my ideas, and added the professional element that I could not do on my own. She kept me informed of changes as we moved through the remodeling phase, and added very special finishing touches at the end to achieve the "wow" factor and the spectacular result that surpassed my expectations.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Calacatta Quartz backsplash fail** *(in Design Dilemma)*

The builder has installed our chosen calacatta quartz on the counter and backsplash. Why does this look so wrong and hideous? HELP! please tell me i'm not crazy. Does Calacatta Quartz veining really look like this?

UPDATE \#3: Builder removed the quartz and offered for me to choose another quartz AND include ourselves in the fabrication. Whew! We are going with AVENUE WHITE. Something more forgiving in connecting any veins and softer/blurry movement. Wish me luck and i'll send a photo once installed. THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK.

UPDATE 2: So went to Dal Tile to see if indeed there are 2 Calacatta Q06s. INDEED, THERE ARE! See pictures below of the slabs. Can you tell which i chose and which they installed?? Can you see a difference? I DO!

UPDATE 1: Please see the quartz i chose - Calacatta Q06.
Do you guys see a difference between the sample size and 1. pic of close up of one side wall(resembles my selection) 2. pic of close up of one of the tree roots(not what i selected - it has a brown veining running in the middle of the gray vein)? I have a feeling the majority of this slab is DIFFERENT from what i chose. Let me know.

A: ProSource Memphis I disagree . You will not get that variation from a man made material. They will be fairly consistent slab to slab. These are two completely different slabs with different vein patterns. That’s one of the benefits of quartz is it’s consistency of pattern slab to slab.

**Q: how long is each string, from base to bulb? thanks** *(in Product Questions)*

A: Can you get the strings longer? I have 10 ft ceiling and would like a little more play with the drop on the strings.

**Q: Sputnik** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where is the chandelier from please.

A: Practicalprops.com in North Hollywood. They make a true vintage replica of sputniks, globe, interior and exterior sconces. I called and actually talked to the owner about what I wanted. Got my light shipped to jobsite in 10-14days.

**Q: Building a new home and having trouble picking out white paint.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are trying to make it light and bright. Trying a make a farmhouse look. Using claw leg tubs, farm sink, white cabinets, stained island, wood ceilings painted white. Using black honed granite and the island has gray, black and white in it. My couch is light gray. I want the walls, trim and cabinets to be in the white tones.

A: Typically any of those paint stores will have a paint deck for Dunn Edwards. Try calling the Ben Moore store to see if they have one then they could match it. I'll look in my paint decks when I get back to office and see what other whites there are.

**Q: Home Office from scratch** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi! I'm gearing up to begin decorating my home office and would love some ideas since I'm starting from scratch. I want a black and white office with a pop of color. I have four items that have to be included that you'll see in the pics: black and white geometric bench, Audrey IKEA print, black and goldish mirror, and a gold vase that I could use as decor or a trash can. Other than that, I'm completely open to ideas. I want to paint, I need a desk and chair and some sort of shelving/bookcase unit, and multiple sources of lighting. The room is 10'9" x 11'0"and has a weird narrow space in front of the sole window. Look forward to reading your suggestions!

A: How wide is the window well? This could be a potentially fun little niche. I love the black white and gold color selection. I think you could do several pops of color not just one color. Pic three colors you like and play around with different hues.
Wall opposite of closet would be a great focal wall for a bold graphic wallpaper. Lower shelving units on either side of the window well. Try putting desk out in the room not on a wall. Depending on size of desk would look great in front of focal wall. Cabinets could still be placed on focal wall. but i would keep them low ( no more than 42") this would allow you to do decorative accessories on top while still being able to see the focal wall. I would also try putting in an area rug for visual interest.

**Q: Need ideas for an update for small budget.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Never liked cabinet color.. Entire kitchen faces great room. Very open floor plan. Ideas??

A: Is the countertop grey corian? I think changing out the counter top with a great granite or quartz adding a glass backsplash new hardware and update the pendants to a blown glass.
