We purchased a 92 year old house in River Forest (as is) in Jan 2021 with big plans to renovate and make it our own. We watch HGTV occasionally so felt up to the challenge. Our first project was the kitchen. We had a healthy 6 figure + budget and goals of knocking this out in 3 months prior to moving it but quickly realized we embarked on this at possibly the worst possible time in human history as the companies we engaged with were slammed, facing us with either insane lead times (9+ months) or a massive price tag (like maybe it would be better to tear the house down and start over high). Gail @ Drury was one of the last we met with and we liked her from the start. She has a ton of experience in the business and is really an honest & authentic person with impeccable follow up and professionalism. Very easy to work with. She really listened to our feedback in the design process on what we wanted while considering our budget throughout and delivered a design of a modern kitchen with everything we were looking for in a very challenging lay-out (92 year old house). The contract process was straight forward, a timeline was built and we were introduced to Israel and his team from their in house crew to start construction. They assured me on their ability to deliver on time and on budget, but I'd seen those HGTV shows/heard stories and know there is always a gotcha so I had my guard up. Turns out I was wrong again as that gotcha never came. The one hiccup we had was a delay on the range, which wasn't even an issue because they snagged us another one to use while we were waiting. Israel is a modern day MacGyver and not only did him and his crew impeccably knock out this job on time and on budget, but he fixed or pointed out like 17 other old house things which he helped me take care of along the way. It was easy. Everyone at the org is good at their role and they delivered us a stunner kitchen, on time, and on budget in a super challenging environment. 10/10 from the Schafers. The third floor shower was not installed properly and has called toxic mold and ceiling repair work to our second floor insulation and ceiling > 3\.
