They were extremely professional. They met every deadline, thought innovatively on how to deal with issues as they came up, managed the RFP process and dealt with contractor as needed. They were also incredibly accurate on the cost and the timing of the project. They have an outstanding and rare ability to combine creativity, attention to details, and deep understanding of the construction process -- delivering amazing results for their clients over and over. For our first project, they designed an amazing penthouse addition to our loft, in conjunction with a gut job renovation of the original apartment. Their knowledge and understanding of the building code allowed us to build 600 sqft of additional space where others had said that there was no possibility. The use of space, light, and selection of materials were fantastic, and the design merged form and function beautifully. After almost ten years from the initial renovation, the apartment still feels fresh and contemporary. For the second project, they gut renovated our beach house. They transformed an non descriptive, uninteresting house into a gorgeous home, with a fantastic flow and a layout that is simply genius. All within a relatively modest budget. We are now renovating another beach house, again they are completely transforming a boring property into an amazing and exciting one. In each of our projects, they have shown an uncanny ability to unearth the potential of each property and maximize its beauty. Diane and Alex are good listeners and truly care about their clients needs, which I have found it is quite rare. The project was complex and required a demolition phase along with total redesign and sometimes relocation of existing rooms, with plumbing and electrical upgrades. Diane and Alex have incredible skill, attention to detail and industry knowledge. They deftly managed the project with the utmost of care and thought. No detail was too small to discuss and they thought through all aspects from actual design to acquiring building permits, and from dealing with the coop board to managing the contractor on a daily basis. They are truly wonderful people with whom we are still in touch, and we have always been impressed with their integrity, commitment and passion for their work. The project was completed in 2004 and not a day goes by that we don't appreciate our beautiful apartment. They captured our vision perfectly and also added their own stylish interpretations in ways that we hadn't even imagined. In fact, we just came across a wish list that Diane asked us for at the beginning of the project, and we were happily surprised to realize that she had helped us to achieve all of our wishes for the apartment, including one challenging item to make our classic pre-war apartment feel like a downtown loft without losing the original architectural charm. They walked us through each step of the project, even when there were frustrations or surprises. Sometimes taking the role of a therapist, Diane was able to anticipate our concerns and come up with real and viable solutions. Through weekly field meetings, they went through each item on the timeline and kept the project on schedule and focused. You cannot find a better team than Naiztat and Ham.
