I had originally thought of going with a dark gray tile (basalt or slate color), but I don't think I like the way it will look behind the range and hood (which is where most of the backsplash is). Now I am thinking white subway tiles with dark grout. Questions: herringbone or brick pattern? Glossy or matte? 3"x8" or 3"x12"? Countertops are Cambria Weybourne A: Nice work! A: Yes! **Q: modern kitchen designs 2018** *(in Before & After)* http://www.oppeinhome.com/product/modern-kitchens/kitchen-cabinet-PLCC18005 A: Nailed it! **Q: How to Brighten My Kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* First time house owner here....and struggling to figure out how to make our kitchen brighter. These cabinets are ten years old but still in good shape. We have a large screened in porch right outside that window which blocks a lot of the natural light. Recently we had this backsplash installed (traventine) because we seem to like the more traditional look (rather than clean straight lines). And now it's time to do something about the cabinets. We have a deposit down to get them resurfaced and painted but the color that I originally wanted (a more off white color) will seem too old-fashioned and clash with the window frame, patio door frame and the door frames that are all next to the cabinets. So now I am trying to decide if white will be TOO white for what we are looking for. I know there are many shades of white, something like Alabaster color is what I was recommended by the painting company. What do you think? Counter tops will stay the same. The island cabinets will be painted a darker shade of brown...I think. And the knobs will be changed to bronze kind. We'll add pendant lighting above the island as well. I am going to add a few more pictures: One is a picture of my friend's kitchen that started my whole idea of changing the colors, but it turned out a bit too creamy. Second picture is of the look I like. And finally, the last picture is of the sample colors that the cabinet lady showed me. The one on the left is the less stark white color. And I don't know how to rotate pictures on here!! :) A: If the cabinets are in good condition and you are not planning on changing layout, resurface the cabinets and stain light - white. under cabinets LED lights are easy fix.
