> I have had the privilege to collaborate with Jim on a number projects. He is a very knowledgeable and talented architect. Jim's body of work demonstrate his thoughtful, creative, unique and timeless talent to his profession. His depth and knowledge about historical architecture and traditional design principles are admirable. It is always a pleasure working with Jim as I find his work inspires mine. I highly recommend Jim to anyone considering an architectural project.

> I hired James Collins to design our home because he was referred to us by a friend. Had I known he was such a renowned and accomplished architect I would have been intimidated but Jim was anything but intimidating. When we first started the project, we rode around a favorite neighborhood and I showed him the houses I liked best. I was delighted to learn we both loved the Dutch Colonial style popular during the 1920's. Jim created plans that were true to the Dutch Colonial design in a timely manner. Every detail from the line of the roof, the size of the columns, and even the outside hearth that was floor level, was a beautiful depiction of our vision. My home is greatly admired for the inviting front porch that beckons neighbors to come sit and chat to the long, wide hallways with dark hardwood that inspire every child that visits to run around and around the loop to the front door to the kitchen and back. Most people are shocked to discover our house is almost ten years old. They assume it's been a part of our historic neighborhood forever and that's exactly what I hoped for. I strongly recommend Jim Collins work.

> I had the pleasure of working with Jim Collins on a project to conceptualize and design house plans for a rather challenging lot. Jim did an amazing job! He is bright, energetic, creative, reliable and professional. By far, he is the most accomplished design professional I have ever worked with. His knowledge of historical architecture is impressive. I recommend Jim without any hesitation!

> James S. Collins is perhaps one of the most highly trained professional architects on the east coast. His attention to finite details along with his creative vision are superb! He was delightful to work with from the beginning stages of planning the design for our home until the very end of our project completion. Jim's knowledge of historical architecture surpasses any other architect's in our area and I would highly recommend him for anyone who is interested in building a truly unique and timeless home! When friends, family or colleagues visit our home, they are in awe of the excellent craftsmanship and the thoughtful creativity that seems to have been forgotten over time in new home construction today. In fact, most individuals believe that our new home was renovated from an old historical house in our neighborhood instead of being only five years old! This is the ultimate compliment for Jim because he is so conscientious of all historical details involved in creating a superior and masterful showplace!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What paint color is the window trim and door? Amazing home!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: No. It is a custom designed house. I would be happy to custom design a house for you.

**Q: plugs** *(in Photo Questions)*

Where are the plugs for the counters? I do not see them in backsplash - or are they strategically hidden with nicknacks?

A: The plugs are hidden in the fronts of the lower base cabinets.

**Q: Love this! Can you please tell me which color used on the brick?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: White lime wash paint.

**Q: Original brick color (under the lime)** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hey! What was the original brick color? We have a red brick that I want to paint white, but there is white stone in the house as well. I'm trying to figure out the best way to compliment the stone. Thought the painted brick with the stone might be weird, but this might be an option. I just don't want the red to show through at all.

Was this brick a light toned brick, or was it a standard red?

A: The brick is a standard wire cut brick that is typical red brick. The red color can not be seen thru the lime wash.

**Q: Beautiful windows!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would you please share the brand and details of windows?

A: Loewen casement windows.

**Q: Gutters?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material are the gutters?

A: Half round copper gutters.
