He was responsive, professional, and reasonably priced. The closet came out great, never a single issue even after 10 years of daily use. Fast forward to 2026, my husband and I began renovating our new home. As promised, I called Mike to come out and take closet measurements once the framing was up. He said that he had availability to begin our project in mid-late spring, which was perfect for us since we were still in the middle of construction. > > Mike checked in once or twice a month after our meeting, but seemed scattered and forgetful with finalizing our drawings (which had not been the case in the past). I thought this was odd, but reassured him that we were also busy and it was not an issue for us if he took some extra time. When the plans were finally sent to us months later and it came time to get on his schedule, I felt like he was brushing us off, but figured it was just due to him being super busy. I had to reach out to him multiple times, and explained that this was causing conflicts and delays with other work we needed to have done. He apologized profusely for the delay, we sent the deposit and he booked us for the last week in May. We worked all of our other contractors around his scheduled dates and spent time preparing the workspace only for him to cancel the night before (only after I reached out). > > After that, it was nothing but date changes and excuse after excuse (issues with the fabricator, delays with materials etc.) This went on for weeks along with endless apologies and promises with no concrete answers. It got to the point where it was delaying our project too much and we had to move on. Once I told him that it was clear that he had no intention of doing the work and asked for a refund, he started ignoring my calls and texts. I gave him several opportunities to refund the money to no avail, and ended up having to take a day off of work to go and file with small claims court in order to get our deposit back. > > All of this to say that if he is willing to ruin his reputation and rapport with a long-time customer, he will certainly do the same to anyone else. I have recommended him to friends who have also worked with him, and he knew that I had several other projects in my home that I was definitely going to hire him for, none of this mattered. He had no issue with taking our money, and trying to gaslight us into thinking that he was as honest and reliable as he once was. We measure to 1/16" From our first complementary meeting the layout of the room changed slightly twice. As a result I had to meet with you an additional three times to change your drawings. Keep in mind we did nine sets of drawings for you. In this project we invested some serious time between the wall changes that you had done, which I completely understand. The changes were giving you a better layout & finished product. Producing nine sets of drawings is also time consuming. As an example you were getting a custom made shoe rack which was part of drawing changes. All of this we took very seriously to give you the best finished product in your closet. You decided to cancel the project, in doing so we still have to get paid for nine sets of drawings. Keeping in mind we did not charge for the complementary meetings to discuss changes that were taking place as far as wall layouts by your contractor, & changes to your closet designs that were reflected in your drawings.
