I do not recommend. > > We were far from picky when choosing what we wanted in our house and the very few concerns that we did have were either ignored or excused off. Their communication with us throughout the process was very poor, especially after closing when the house was still incomplete. > > We literally had only two requests during our final walkdown which were; 1) replace the flush mount hanging light that was installed on a sloped ceiling which was ridiculous looking, and 2) correspond the light switches on the multi switch boxes so the light on the right is the right switch etc. (your switches will be randomly installed, I shouldn't have had to fix this myself..). Both issues were ignored by the foreman during walkdown, he said that's just how they are installed.. > > Other issues that we are still not happy about were getting our yard graded out and AC unit installed, 2 weeks and 3 weeks AFTER closing respectively, and I had to ask about it a half a dozen times, poor responses and excuses were given. > > Biggest issue of all... they did not install a man door on the 3 car garage, they said it was already framed up and too late to install even with us offering to pay more. Why wasn't a man door put in the building plans? Srange. > > Our issues are definitely minor but their inability to be simply fixed brings up much bigger concerns with Copper Creek, what else was short cut during the process? It's got a great curb appeal, it has a beautiful interior, and it came with lots of sweet upgrades we never thought we'd get with our first home. Plus, the price at the time was cheaper than most older homes for sale on the market, so win-win! Now at first when we hade issues with things in the home that need to be addressed for warranty. They responded not to quickly but eventually got to it. However, we had a couple of issues like crack in the mantle and dents in the floating floor. For a year on a monthly bases I contacted them to find out when they were going to fix the issues. They kept giving me the run around say we will get somebody there but never did. Now the warranty is expired and I have contacted them with no response. From the moment we started the building project and through to today, they have been wonderful to work with. Here are a few reasons why: > > 1\) Even though they build a lot of homes, we didn't feel like a number to them. I felt they treated us with personal attention. We still feel that way. > > 2\) It's impossible to build a perfect home that never has problems. However, it's important to choose a builder who takes responsibility when mistakes happen or problems arise. During the building process we experienced some issues, and Copper Creek resolved them adequately. During the first year we owned the home, we had a number of punch-list items that needed attention, and Copper Creek sent someone out immediately to resolve them each time. And now, three years after we moved in, we had an issue arise, and Copper Creek is taking care of it for us. This is the kind of company I like to do business with, and I'm writing this review to let anyone who may be considering using Copper Creek to do it. Shay (the owner) goes above and beyond to ensure quality in the homes he builds, both during construction and after. He is improving his company's processes and procedures year after year. > > 3\) Most everything you see in their model homes is a standard feature. That was a huge selling point for us. We hate going into model homes, falling in love with everything, only to find out that 50% of what you see is an upgrade. Most of what you see in a Copper Creek model is standard, such as granite counters, wood accents, mudroom bench, energy-efficient windows and insulation, travertine kitchen backsplash, and tons more. I've done a ton of research on home builders, and you definitely get the most for your money with Copper Creek. And it's quality. > > We highly recommend Copper Creek Homes. **★ — comatoast\_dm, Feb. 2017** > We had copper creek build our house. Classic case of bait and switch for the most part. The cabinets and granit (KVO cabinets) were the only thing that could be considered quality. Every other aspect and trade was do it yourself quality at best. You do kind of get more house for the money, but the overall construction quality is poor from the framing to the paint (the paint prep was especially horrible.) The stucco on the front of the house cracked in several places before it was even a year old. Communication was practically non existing. No pre move in cleaning. I paid for 9' ceilings in the basement, they neglected to account for floor depth and I ended up with 8' 6" ceilings. The only time that I tried to speak with the owner (shay higgley) about differences between the framing that I was sold on and what I was actually getting (was supposed to be on 16" centers but got framed on 24" centers), he told me to just sue him and hung up on me. I would definitely never use them again and I do make sure to warn anyone thinking about building to steer clear of this contractor. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, we also had to push our closing date out at least 3 times which didn't make my mortgage lender happy either. **★★ — Megan Infanger, Jan. 2017** > Pros: Standard items include-- tile/wood floor combo, granite counters, KVO Cabinets, Wood framed mirrors in bathrooms, organization bench in entry from garage, plaster base around foundation, detailed trim headers on doors and windows, stair railing wood/iron combo. > > Cons: Poor finish work -- i.e. see nails through caulking/paint on the trim, can see some screws popping out through paint, sante fe texture seems thin and hard to notice the texture, poor caulking work in bathrooms/kitchen counters (this includes dirt combined with the clear caulk when applied), base trim not flush with tile/wood borders causing gaps, poor carpet installation which results to carpet bubbling. > Lack of communication between builder and buyer. Poor job cleaning the home prior to releasing to buyer (had urine on toilet seat/bowl, ducts were filled with plaster and dust). One staff member in particular was always very rude and I have heard that this was an issue with others who have built homes through Copper Creek as well. We customized quite a bit, and they were great to work with us. The draftsman helped us rework the exterior of our home to our liking, and it turned out great. Our sales agent worked very hard to make sure that we were pleased. And especially, the framing was above and beyond any builder we have seen! There were a few hiccups here and there with specifics and finish work (as I imagine there are with most builders), but Copper Creek was always quick to make sure any issues were fixed. We feel that they offer a good, competitive value with their pricing. We also loved everything they include as custom: granite counter tops, tile, nice moulding or trim above doors and windows, and stainless appliances. They seem to be upgrades with most builders, but were included as custom with Copper Creek. Our only concerns were that sometimes it was hard to work around their office schedule of 9-3 on weekdays (although our agent was always available by phone). And we felt anxiety about making any changes of our color choices or material choices throughout the building process, because they charge an addendum fee for any changes made after excavation commences. Overall, they worked with us to make occasional changes so that we would feel confident and happy with our new home, but we could usually sense their frustration. (We understand that this is an attempt to keep people from making excessive changes all the time, but wished there was somehow a better way).
