He did an excellent job of articulating our general vision: a yard that we could easily spend more time in. We told him we wanted a dedicated vegetable garden, an area that was kid friendly / play friendly, a lounge area, dining / kitchen area, shade, lighting, new patio, and replace existing landscape with one that's low-maintenance and drought-tolerant. We also wanted all of this within a particular budget. He gave us a design that made all of this work -- beautifully, in the style that we liked and within budget!
