> No intention of remodeling my roof with tiles until I saw Daniel's work. I absolutely love it! I keep having my neighbors and others from the area I don't know drive by my house just to see the roof! They all say they've never seen a roof like it. Looks better in person!

> We had a great experience with Artezanos and now have an incredibly beautiful roof to prove it! I had been looking for two years for someone to do a beautiful job on our much needed new roof, and just happened to stumble across Artezanos. I was looking for that specific type of roof, and not many companies out there will do it, or even know how. And if they do, they will give you a ridiculous bid. Not only is our roof aesthetically beautiful to look at, but even more importantly is what's under the roof. We literally have three layers of Sharkskin Ultra and Sharkskin Ultra SA (peel and stick...no nails whatsoever). The inspector told me each time he came here that in all the years of inspecting...he had never seen such a well protected roof. Then on top of that, there is a metal that they put over the top before they put the tiles on! To make matters even more difficult... I have eleven skylights that needed replacing. So on top of all of the other layers protecting them so they won't leak, they added extra layers of several things that I don't know the names of...and then coated those layers multiple times with something more. It is a very tight roof...I don't expect any problems ever again. OH...and the finished edge is like old world Italian/Spanish roofs. Nobody else finishes the edges like that.

> On another note... It was wonderful working with people who actually cared about their product, and before we even decided to go with them, they talked with us multiple times. Dan and Todd are two of the nicest people you could ever want to work with. Todd's son Julian is the foreman, and equally as nice. You can always reach out to them via phone/text...and they will respond right away. I have to say...that was a huge plus.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Roof tiles or aluminium roofing?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Roof material option

A: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCInngHghuo

**Q: Where did the floor tile come from? I love it!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We can actually custom make the same thing for $3.50 per sqft. Re-claimed stuff looks good but is usually past its useful life...

**Q: What is the typical roof pitch on a mediterranean style home?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are building a mediterranean style home with a 6/12 pitch and hope this isn't too high.

A: I understand... But please pay close attention because 80% of the most character defining aspect of the Mediterranean Style is the Barrel Tile Roof... We have a roof system that is sustainable and has your budget in mind if you can afford a shingle roof. The system is light weight and very energy efficient. We have also certified the roof tile system with the Florida Solar Energy Center so the "investment" doubles as "Qualified Solar Water Heating Property" as defined by IRS Form 5695. This allows a US Taxpayer to get a tax credit of 30% off of your entire roof cost without any cap limitation until December 31, 2019. I would also recommend a slope of 4/12 to 5/12 to reduce expense on the construct of the wood deck and roof installation, this way the roof is more amicable to workers and favorable to lower priced quotes. A Black Shingle roof would heat up your attic space considerably so you would need the additional
slope and insulation. Your roof could pay for itself by saving on your hot water expense with a simple Pex tubing in our design. This way , you can have the roof on the home of your dreams with all the bells and whistles without breaking the bank! Please view our new whiteboard explainer video and please let me know what you think:

**Q: Curb appeal ideas needed!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is our new home! Looking for ideas on how to update the curb appeal. The front door isn't in good condition so I am thinking a new dark wood door could be nice- maybe with a matching Adirondack chair to the left to fill the empty space. Open to painting the exterior and adding new landscaping. Thanks!

A: Thank you! Its about as sustainable as you can get in roofing.... Its also very easy and fun to install using a one part adhesive foam.

**Q: So many color of black for a roof???? HELP!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Getting a new roof on a house we have lived in for a year - existing roof is light brown. House can be painted, exterior is wood. It is now tan with maroon shutters and garage doors and lighter trim color. I would like to paint the shutters/garage doors black - with the light trim and white door?? I want a black roof...husband says..which black? Huh? - Who knew there were so many choices?? Using Certainteed Landmark traditional shingles, there's black, driftwood, grey...and the list goes on. Now, I am confronted with TOO many choices and am stopped in my tracks! And, am being pressured to make a decision so they can get going on the roof - so...any advice???

A: White roofs turn black, Black shingles are a bad idea because that would make a hot roof even hotter. You can put a less expensive retro-fit called an Artezanos Hybrid with dark tiles or light tiles and still keep your roof cool. It has solar energy options where you can make your own electricity or hot water from your own roofs heat. You can get a 30% federal tax credit without cap limitation on the entire cost of your roof till December 31, 2019. Save lots of money by going right over your existing asphalt shingles cause its so light weight!

**Q: Roof tiles** *(in Photo Questions)*

What kind of roof did you use here?

A: You could easily do a more authentic looking roof with an Artezanos Hybrid. If you add Pex tubing underneath the metal pans, you could heat your domestic hot water and claim a 30% federal tax credit for the entire cost of your roof without cap limitation until December 31, 2019.
