Can you find me some good looking landscape lights?** *(in Landscape Design)* Hi! I have powered boxes/timers in our backyard and we need to get some landscaping lights (that are wired for that sort of thing) but I can't seem to find any that I like. Does anyone have any that they've really liked at their house? A: Hi @sparklepants13 I believe Vista Pro lighting wins the title for highest amount of different landscape lighting fixtures available. I usually just use the standard dome area lights for that classic look. But to each his own! My contractor has quoted $3500 for a modest lighting job to include about 15 path lights, 3 up lights plus all the wire, transformer, etc. He only has experience with Unique and Vistapro, but gosh, they come dear. Is there anything cheaper of comparable quality, or is this just another example of you get what you pay for? I believe he said additional path lights would run about $200 and that includes wiring and installation, but it just seems like so much money. I have looked around on the Volt website, and at first glance, they seem much cheaper. But I might be comparing apples to oranges? Thanks for any light anyone can shine on this issue -- pun intended. ;-) A: Usually you do get what you pay for in Landscape lighting. You don't want to cheap out on the wire, connectors or lamps as moisture will be the death of your electrical and then your investment is worthless. That being said, 200 per light installed by a qualified contractor using good materials is a fair price. The cost of brass fixtures available to the consumer has come way down, I still wouldn't trust those companies from China with prices that seem too good to be true-it probably is! Especially if their warranty is longer than they have been in business for! There is also different grades of brass so you want to know what kind of brass you are paying for (top, mid grade tier, solid cast brass vs cast brass). Yes your brass won't corrode, but some will chip vs others that will take impact better. I've found Unique's aluminum powder coat line to be the cheapest, and Vista and Kichler to be just slightly more expensive, but have more customizable options for those who want a custom install (ie. glare shields, frosted lens). A new line that I haven't used but recommend because they are backed by Site One Supply is Pro Trade, which you probably can get at affordable price retail. They are all Malibu Intermatic. I want to buy some that are better quality but I have no idea which ones are better. I've seen some called Manor House. Does anyone know if those are any good? My Malibu ones are constantly going out and then if I go outside and wiggle the wire near it, they go on again. This happens CONSTANTLY. I want some lights that have a better connection method, not that easy quick thing that obviously is crap. Can someone recommend some other brand low-voltage lights that are better quality? Anything made in the USA, perhaps? I don't mind spending more. I just want them to LAST. Thanks! A: I am a contractor and have heard the horror stories with Malibu. They are now out of business for a few years now. I use Unique Lighting, Vista Pro and on occasion Kichler.
