## Community Q&A

**Q: Need shower grout help - color and brand-product type** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm having a shower built as part of a renovation and tile will be installed by a professional tile installer.  I'm working with a general contractor.  The tile for the shower walls and shower floor are from Speartek.  Glossy white subway tile on walls (5"x10" Rhapsody 'Pointing').  Matte white 2-inch hexagon tile on the shower floor.  Niche will have Pompeii Quartz 'Perla'.  I'm attaching photos.  Shower fixtures will be polished nickel. 

I'm aiming for between 1/16" and 1/8" shower wall grout spacing and the shower floor will be 1/8" grout spacing due to the sheets it comes on.

I don't want white color grout or grout that is too dark/contrasting.  I am considering Custom Building Products "snow white" grout color but am concerned it may be too light even though their sample stick blends well with the quartz niche color.  I've read that grout the color of "dirt" would be easier to maintain.  

Color will be dependent upon the brand.  I have access to Custom and Mapeii grouts.  Wondering if Frost or Warm Gray (Mapeii) would work but don't want it to read too gray; I'm open to suggestions for color that blends and has a subtle contrast.

Other than color, I'm stumped on which brand to go with and within those brands, which products are reliable and easiest to clean.  Anyone have recent experience with Mapeii Ultracolor FA, Mapeii Flexcolor CQ, Custom's Polyblend Plus (sanded or non-sanded), Custom Prism or Custom Fusion Pro?  I've heard that epoxy grout is great for being low maintenance but can be difficult to install if you are not familiar with it.  My contractor has epoxy grout and did not have a good experience with it, although I don't know how long ago that was.  They do not recommend epoxy grout.

I reached out to Ardex and the sales rep has been unresponsive; Ardex would have to be special ordered so I have a feeling most tile installers in my area would not be familiar with it.  Will not likely go that route.
