**Q: Will LED lights make my house look like a warehouse? Need lighting help** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are (finally!) remodeling our house in San Francisco. I need to decide on lighting this week. I thought going with LED recessed lighting was a slam dunk until I went to the lighting store and pointed the LED lightbulb at my skin. I looked resolutely green. Oh no! I have since learned about LED color rendering and color temperatures. Turns out that the "warmer" (redder) the "temperature" (color of the light), the better everyone will look at my house. Soooo, 1. What are the best LED lightbulbs for this purpose? 2. Can I mix halogen/incandescent and LED e.g. halogen for the interior of the room and LED for lighting up the walls/paintings & photographs? LED is very energy efficient but we need to be able to live happily & look healthy in our home (not green!). Thanks for your tips.

A: I'm doing a major remodel and I have a ton of those big ugly 6" ceiling cans (halo H7RT).  I am hoping that there is some sort of a retrofit that allows me to leave the cans in the ceiling but updates the look.  By "update" I mean that the bulbs will be smaller so possibly the rim is larger but if it's flat and white (and my ceiling is white) it will fool the eye into making it look like it's a smaller more contemporary can.  Is there such a retrofit?  Otherwise, I'm going to replace every stinkin' can.
