Our job is to turn your ideas and aspirations into imaginative, workable solutions – and it’s what we love to do. When you contact us, we will run through a “reality check” with you on the phone to establish the approximate size of the project to make sure we can help you. If that conversation is positive, we arrange to meet to discuss what you and any others involved (often your family) want to achieve both now, and in the future. We’ll walk around your building or plot, talk about your own ideas, and often come up with some that you may not have thought of. We’ll give you our outline thoughts on planning, design, budget and timescale, although budget and timescale can only be indicative at this stage.
We know that selecting the right architect for your project is one of the biggest decisions you will make. To help you decide whether we might be right for you, here are a few reasons past clients have given for choosing – and recommending – us.

We communicate well, give peace of mind and are easy to work with
Our modern, energy-savings designs are tailored to each client’s current and future needs, lifestyle, aspirations, budget and site
The Principal, John Jones RA, is involved at every stage of every project to ensure that the design doesn’t get ‘diluted’ during construction
We hope the above gives you the confidence to consider contacting us about your project. We will happily discuss your requirements with you and, if we feel we can help, will arrange to come and see you. If however we feel that we are not best placed to meet your needs we will recommend someone who is.

### Reviews

**★★★★★ — Ken F, Feb. 2020**

> My wife and I were interested in renovating our home, including a kitchen expansion, addition of an office and other remodeling throughout the common living space. We hired John to draw up the plans and help us create a vision for the project. Not only did he do a great job, throughout the project, John was responsive, reliable and was truly dedicated to improving our home. I would recommend John to anyone looking to hire an architect for their home renovation or new construction projects

**Comment from John Jones Architect llc:**

> Thank you, Ken. It was a pleasure working with your family!

**★★★★★ — JENINE BECK DESIGN, Feb. 2020**

> I am currently working with John Jones on a renovation for my antique house in Fairfield. John met with me at my house many times to see how we lived, went with me to my building approval hearing in front of the zoning board, and ultimately drew up exquisite plans that respected and honored the age of our house while making very creative suggestions for how to make it more functional and efficient. John is very friendly, professional and prepared. I recommend John with the highest confidence and you will be thrilled with his work product!

**Comment from John Jones Architect llc:**

> Thanks so much Jenine. With your amazing interior design skills, we made quite the design team!

**★★★★★ — Chris Annalora, Jan. 2020**

> We worked with John on a set of complicated residential additions, and we think that he was an amazing architect. He's very knowledgeable about both technical and style issues, patiently explaining the ins and outs of how we could accomplish what we were trying to achieve. Best of all, he really listened to us. He started with our rough drawn plans and gave us multiple options to make sure that we were getting what we really wanted. The give and take was incredibly helpful. To top it all off, John is just a really great guy. We subsequently moved, and John is consulting on potential plans for our new house. We recommend John to all of our friends.

**★★★★★ — Kerri Breed, Jan. 2018**

> John is incredibly easy to work with, has very creative ideas, and makes your dream home come true. He stays on his time lines and over-delivers on all fronts. We are so happy we chose John, and would do so again in a heart beat.

**★★★★★ — lorenhrubino, Dec. 2017**

> John Jones is a master architect and is amazing at creating space. He came into our home and looked at how we could use every nook and cranny in our remodel and came up with so many brilliant ideas in his plans.
> He is has also been really accessible when I or my builder has had any questions. I highly recommend John for a new build (as I have seen them around town) or a remodel.

**★★★★★ — Jodi Couture, Dec. 2017**

> Incorporated every one of our design requests in our addition/ remodel. He is not someone who will force a design on his clients. He can also sense when. You are looking for a little direction.
>
> I would highly recommend John for you project

**★★★★★ — Amy Cook, June 2017**

> We originally contacted John to discuss the options we had on expanding our home. We found him to be very friendly, thoughtful and thorough. He gave us options and ideas at our very first sit down, as well as his personal and honest opinions on what additions would add value and what wouldn't. We have worked with him since then and really valued his honesty and expertise with our projects. He has always been patient, efficient and flexible. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to others.

**★★★★★ — S M, Nov. 2016**

> John Jones Architects did an amazing job helping us to recreate our basement into a living level including a bathroom, a challenging window well excavation and a replacement stairs. He paid close attention to our basic requirements and our style preferences and then brought his imagination and skill to the project to create what is now a really classy space!
> John has a professional yet wonderful, easy-going manner.

**★★★★★ — DeDe Guthartz, Oct. 2016**

> After interviewing a few architects, I decided to go with John Jones and couldnt be happier with my decision.
> He went well beyond his job of helping me design the home of my dreams. He assisted with certain challenges we were faced with through resistrictions of the town and did it with ease and creativity.
> I am a designer and he welcomed all my suggestions with an open mind. We worked great together and would recommend him to anyone doing any type of job big or small!

**★★★★★ — Eric Oppenheimer, Oct. 2016**

> John has worked on two very difficult projects for us including a full redesign of a master bedroom and bathroom and a complete reconstruction and expansion of our sun room; both projects look fantastic and have received great compliments from friends. What differentiates John is his willingness to take the necessary time to understand a client's goals and work diligently to provide detailed design plans. He regularly communicates with contractors to ensure the project's aesthetics are not compromised and always sees the job through to the end. His enthusiasm, endlessly positive attitude, and work ethic make him a true pleasure to work with. Thank you John for making our house look so wonderful!

We are thrilled and honored to receive a HOBI Award for Best Residential Remodel ($5,000,000-$7,000,000 category). See the spectacular home here: http://bit.ly/2fpgcHx. Great collaboration with Brooks & Falotico!

A: Congratulations - you always do top-notch work!

**Q: Can you tell me exterior paint colors?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi, I wish I could; this was done with spec builder who is no longer around. All clapboard and trim are your basic exterior white paint (I know, no such thing as basic white!). Hope that helps!

**Q: Closet in my entrance way** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am doing a gut renovation in New York and have been forced to put storage in the kitchen area.

I am considering have a small table along the wall that runs into the living room which is why I put the closet where I did. I like open floor plans and am debating how I can soften the walking path and create something practical on the side of the closet. (Maybe a glass shelf / Maybe low granite top for serving / bar for alcohol) - SO LOST!!!!

I would love to hear everyone's ideas - please attach pictures if you have seen something I could show my contractor. I have attached the floor plans.

Thanks you so much

David

P.S - only the door that opens towards the closet is functional - please ignore the other door

A: David, here's a basic image and plan overlay for my response. The angle is very subtle, and if you use frosted glass sliders (or other translucent material), you can use lighting in the closet/storage to create a nice feature wall that adds some nice ambient light to the space and while keeping the storage as inubtrusive as possible. Not sure if the angle works with your design motif, but again, hope this helps....
This would certainly look more "built-in" with floor to ceiling sliders....

**Q: We would like to attach our garage with some sort of addition. We are thinking this will require some sort of modification of the current garage along with a new structure to attach it. While the addition does not have to serve any particular purpose, some sort of mudroom would be welcome as the side door leads directly into the kitchen. Any ideas on the most pleasing way to accomplish this? The house sits on 22 acres so their are no neighborhood considerations.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: Judging from your photo, looks like a mudroom with a family/'great room" addition behind the kitchen (out back) would work well. I'm assuming a bathroom is in the middle of the back of your home, so expanding the kitchen out back will create a great family space. Please feel free to reach out to me if you're anywhere near Connecticut. I can help!

**Q: What is the architectural style of this house? It is beautiful.** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the architectural style of this house? It is beautiful.

A: Not sure of exactly what "style", but check out Tea2's website. They are a great group that reinterprets traditional midwestern/prairie/shingle styles in their own unique, and beautiful way.

**Q: How much wall space would I need to fit these bunk beds?** *(in Photo Questions)*

How much wall space would I need to fit these bunk beds?

A: looks like the length of 2 single mattresses (2x 75") + ship ladder (generous with 24") = 174" as a minimum. Hope that helps!
