> Jane,
> As I have said to you many times, your eye for detail and workmanship is impeccable. Your coordination of the fabrics and trims that you search the world for and your sense of style certainly make my work easier. I love the handmade Otomi's that are not mass produced from a machine and your vintage Oddfellows uniforms are transformed into beautiful works of art. I know some say they are just pillows, I believe yours are more than that. I truly appreciate working with you and seeing what you create.
> Thank you,
> Jane West

## Community Q&A

**Q: Where is the coffee table with ottomans purchased from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Nicely done. I like the pops of Limey Green. Your style has changed and I really like the direction it is taking.

**Q: POLL: Desk in the kitchen area yes/no?** *(in Polls)*

How many people use desks in in the kitchen and is it used often?

A: It will die there over time....find a fabulous desk and you can move it around as your life changes. It will become a catch all I have found.

**Q: Would you build a cottage without a dining room?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are building a cottage in Michigan. I have attached a copy of the layout. We will not be there a ton in the winter. Maybe over Christmas - us plus our 2 kids who won't be married for many years - one just started college. We will be there spring, all summer and fall entertaining but we always eat outside. We have a screened in porch off the kitchen and an open porch below this area which is all walkout. I plan to eat most of our meals in the screened in porch. Even in the mornings everyone takes their coffee and heads outside to sit on the deck. The kitchen island is 10' and can sit 5 maybe 6. On the point - Long narrow lot- views out the front plus all along the porch side. Am I crazy to not have a formal eat in area other than the island? Would appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

A: Absolutely...another waste of space. I would rather have a large foyer with enough room for a multi use table. Or a library combo and an interesting table. I just finished house and one end of the large living room was divided it into 3 sections...foyer, sitting and dining.

**Q: Lowes Kitchen Remodel \*(design, before, and after)\*** *(in Before & After)*

This was a start to finish transformation all done by Lowes of Hopkinsville, KY. Cabinets, countertops, lighting, paint, flooring, etc.

A: I just finished a very old country house from top to bottom. It had been empty for 20 years. You know that a kitchen can sell a house and I have done many but I love the way this one turned out. I used IKEA for the cabinets and hired a very good carpenter to do the install. If it is done right it will look like a very expensive custom job but someone who cannot think out of the box will make a mess of it. Then hunt around for interesting light fixtures, hardware and work an interesting space plan. In this kitchen we left the original china cabinet and had it completely refurbished. We moved the 125 year old American Standard iron sink to the Mud room off the kitchen and brought the two spaces together with the use of the same IKEA cabinets. The island was found in someone's garage. The interior and exterior were all done with Sherwin Williams and a new white which was fantastic and just popped against the gray and stainless. The Italian light fixtures were found at a Habitat for Humanity Resale shop. The lighting plan took planning the use of Luton, dimmers and placement to give the ambiance no matter the use of the space.

**Q: Exterior color for houses** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Agron, be sure to see the BEFORE AND AFTER photos of this project. It was just finished last week and it went on the market Monday. Better photos with paint images much clearer. I used all Sherwin Williams colors on the exterior and the interior. I am extremely happy with the results.

**Q: thoughts on this rug with my furniture?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

moving into a larger space, thoughts on this rug. it is a woven blend of hemp, suede, and silver metallic leather.

A: I have always lived with a remnant of an animal print area rug. They last FOREVER, never go out of style and it will never show any soil. It would be perfect with your dark wood. Too chic!
