Considering a renovation? At Aesthetic Answers, we get to know you, help you pinpoint the right choices, and work with you to make them. Then we advocate for you—defend and promote your wishes amongst the other parties involved in your renovation.

Perhaps you already have a contractor and maybe even an architect—yet you still feel uncertain about which direction to take with layout, interior design, finishes, fixtures, furniture. How will your decisions affect the way you live? Will they fit with what the contractor envisions—or will your ideas get derailed after it’s too late?

Our goal is to solve problems, clarify direction, and streamline the transition for you. No matter where you are in the renovation process, we guide you through our time-tested process to support an end-result you’ll love.

If you’re worried that a designer will take the reins and you’ll end up somewhere you don’t want to be, with no idea why you got there—that’s exactly what we won’t do. Our process goes from big to small—and we agree, talk, consider, ask “why” at every step—to make sure all the decisions are going to work.

The end result? A finished space that you feel comfortable, confident and happy in. You’ll know every decision had a reason, and that every reason was based on how you live. Simply put, it will feel right. How can we be certain you’ll love the result? Because we make sure you’re comfortable and confident at every step along the way.

### Reviews

**★★★★★ — T. Becket Adams, Jan. 2026**

> Five stars.
>
> (I meant to submit this review last year, but time got away from me!)
>
> Amy is outstanding. She designed and sourced our bathroom remodel, and the results speak for themselves. She has a great eye, knows her craft, and, most importantly, listens.
>
> We came in with some general ideas, and she turned them into a finished space that looks great and works even better. What made the process exceptionally smooth was that she didn’t take a color-by-numbers approach. Instead, she made sure we were all aligned on the overall design and aesthetic from the start and didn't ask us to micromanage every decision. She handled the details with confidence and clarity. She’s also excellent at finding quality materials at the best prices and keeping budgets in mind without sacrificing design.
>
> The remodel itself was a complete gut job, down to the studs. Amy essentially rebuilt the space from the ground up and completely reimagined it. The new layout makes far better use of the space, including a larger picture window. Despite the scope of the renovation, the process never felt overwhelming because Amy was so organized and on top of everything.
>
> The final result exceeded our expectations. The bathroom looks fantastic, feels cohesive, and functions beautifully. Everyone who sees the finished space says it makes them want to spend all their time there.
>
> Amy is exactly the kind of designer you hope to find but rarely do. Highly recommend. 10/10.

> We would like to express our sincerest gratitude for your superb service. We are truly happy with our new bathroom(s) because you have made them a warm and comfortable place to be. One of the things that make you so great is that you are able to grasp your clients style instead of pushing your own although you came up with some great ideas. You were also prompt and reliable in your communication and were very professional and respectful in your interactions with me and my wife. The materials and workmanship was of high quality and you paid attention to detail to ensure a clean and finished look was achieved. Lastly, you were also reliable and responsible in handling issues although there were few and we will definitely recommend Aesthetic Answers to our family and friends.

> We recently completed a kitchen, bathroom, and family room remodel with Aesthetic Answers and could not be happier with the whole experience. Amy and Scott are an absolute pleasure to work with and very professional. Amy is the best project manager - she had every detail in place so that the project ran smoothly and even ahead of schedule. She is responsive, organized, and on top of everything. She took the time to understand our aesthetic and our needs and came up a plan that was both beautiful and functional. She made a substantial remodel an easy process for us, and the end result was even more impressive than we could have visualized. Her design eye is amazing, and she just understands how to put a space together, considering every detail and element. Very highly recommend. Amy is the best, and you will not regret working with Aesthetic Answers.

> I cannot speak highly enough of Amy. In the past, I have been hesitant to hire an interior design professional because I enjoy the design process of selecting items myself and was concerned that the final product may not feel personal or unique. She has changed my mind completely, and I plan to hire her for every future project! She has an impeccable eye and attention to detail. She not only ensured that our design projects (full kitchen, master bathroom, and powder room) reflected our personal style, but she made the entire process run smoothly and facilitated communication among the entire team of contractors, cabinet makers, and ourselves. She is incredibly organized and ensured that items were correctly ordered in time so that there were no major waiting periods during our renovation, which is huge when you're living without a kitchen or bathroom. She left no stone unturned and addressed details that I never would have thought of. Amy is a pleasure to work with, and I enthusiastically recommend her to all of my friends.

> Amy and the Aesthetic Answers team did an absolutely brilliant job on a kitchen remodel!
>
> The condo building was built in the early 1920s and came with a unique set of design challenges. Amy was able to transform a dated kitchen into a beautiful space that felt modern and clean while still staying true to the heritage of the era in which the building was constructed.
>
> The team was patient, understanding, and diligent in their design, planning, and implementation. I felt that my ideas were incorporated when I had an opinion, otherwise, it was nice to leave it in the hands of experts I trusted. I cannot recommend the team enough and only wish I had more rooms that were in need of work!

**★★★★★ — Ted, July 2021**

> Coming into our home remodel project, we thought we had a good sense of what we wanted. But Amy led us through so many details we hadn't considered. She took the time to understand not just our goals & budget for the project but also our underlying style preferences and guided us accordingly, all with an abundance of patience. Her expertise and attention to detail dramatically improved the outcome of our project within our original budget.

**★★★★★ — Anna L, March 2018**

> I did a complete remodel of a rowhouse, and had no experience with choosing and coordinating fixtures, tiles, flooring and furniture. Amy walked me through it and made an overwhelming undertaking doable. She took the time to learn my preferences and then step by step pieced together each room, recalibrating when I got the deer-in-the-headlights look. She also coordinated with the builder, using their preferred vendors for counters and fixtures. I now have a home that is more me than I could have dreamed, and nicer than what I could have imagined, and all within my budget. I especially appreciate their flat fee arrangement, so I didn't have to think twice about reaching out when something came up.

**★★★★★ — Nancy McNamara, Jan. 2018**

> Amy was great to work with! She is talented, easy to talk to, and listened to my request and concerns. I have received many positive comments from friends and family on the design results!

**★★★★★ — Billy L., Jan. 2018**

> Aesthetic Answers is fantastic. I cannot overstate how pleased we were with (1) the process and (2) the design. For the process, Amy came to each meeting very well prepared with a presentation to show the work she had done thinking about our project ahead of time. She checked in regularly, coordinated with our contractor, and was super responsive on email. As for the design, we got the exact house design we wanted - even though we didn't know what we wanted at first. Amy worked with us to identify our tastes and then offer a number of variations on that theme to help us find our way to the design we wanted. We are thrilled with the results.

**★★★★★ — L S, Jan. 2018**

> Amy did an incredible job on our home. We completely rebuilt our Capitol Hill home and she provided direction and creative plans throughout the whole process. She did an excellent job of communicating with my wife and me. She listened to our comments and then would come back with a group of selections based on our feedback. It was a very good process and took a lot of stress/grief out of picking lights/fixtures/colors/floors etc. The outcome was remarkable. We would highly recommend her for any project.

**★★★★ — E McBurney, Jan. 2017**

> Amy created two fabulous designs that incorporated all our "wish list" items for remodeled bathrooms. She steered us to a reliable contractor. and worked on site with the contractor to resolve any issues as they came up. A bit pricey for the designs, but worth the money, since she created gorgeous looks for our tiny space and stayed involved the entire time.

**★★★★★ — Jeannie Miner, Dec. 2016**

> Amy helped us update several bathrooms in our house. What a delight to work with Amy. She was very professional, thorough and timely. It was extremely helpful to us that Amy narrowed down options, and then gave us several selections that would fit with the overall design. She helped us stay on budget, had an excellent relationship with the contractor, and anticipated every detail. Kudos to Aesthetic Answers!

  - Description: After engaging a contractor to do a full gut and remodel of their home, this client contacted us with a very specific need: help us make our 1900s home connect with today in a seamless way! We engaged to create continuity and a light, open and airy feel in this 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath home through finishes and fixtures—all while honoring and integrating historical elements. The result? A home with turn of the century charm that appeals to contemporary living and a neutral, calm palate which also inc…

  - Description: Striking the balance between Southern flair and practical family living was the goal for our clients, yet their canvas was a dysfunctional kitchen and bath that bred disorganization and chaos. As a family with four children, practical solutions for family living were necessary; storage and organization of the utmost importance. In the master bathroom, we helped the owners create a space that felt tranquil and adult, elevated yet approachable. A shower insert was replaced with a large, luxurious…

  - Description: Our clients came to us with a newly-built home boasting a Craftsman-style construction they loved, but an interior that lacked the personality they craved. Our role was to take a cookie-cutter space and create a personality-rich abode. Our approach was to layer-in elements to augment the blank space. First, we added wood trim and moldings to the front rooms to create a tray-ceiling feel. In the living room, wainscoting and thick molding supported the desired feel while avoiding feeling stuffy or…

  - Description: This homeowner came to us with two awkwardly designed and poorly apportioned upstairs bathrooms. They wanted to add a shower and double vanity to the master, while relocating the laundry to its own closet. We were able to rework the layout of both baths and create a beautiful and functional space, increasing storage and making the space feel larger than it was. From the overall aesthetics down to the finish details, we designed and execute a solution that is now the highlight of the upper level.

  - Location: Washington, DC
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: With a large pink Jacuzzi tub and little counter space or storage, this dated master bath was not providing the necessities nor design appeal for its owner. Desiring a higher-end hotel-style bathroom with more storage, our client wanted to keep the footprint the same and the budget reasonable. Utilizing the entire wall, including the bulkhead, we created a built-in vanity flanked with tall cabinets to create a space that felt substantial while providing additional storage and counter space. The…

  - Description: Our client wanted to completely change the look and feel of their existing space and create something better suited to their tastes and sensibilities. We started by replacing the existing dark wood flooring with a whitewashed wood look. We opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create a breakfast bar. This visually created the sense of a larger space while effectively separating the cooking and dining surfaces. The ghost chairs provide more support and comfort than backless st…
- [D. St. Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/d-st-kitchen-pj-vj~761771)
  - Location: Washington, DC
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: The original kitchen was blocked from the living room by a wall and an ill-devised peninsula. We worked with the architect and contractor to create an open floor plan for the main level by removing the existing wall and reconfiguring the layout of the kitchen. “I want to have big family meals” was one of our guiding directives from this homeowner. She was in love with the concept of an oversized stove so we incorporated it into the design and added additional pantry space as well as an island in…

  - Description: Our clients had a small, crowded feeling bathroom. They wanted a welcoming, usable space that felt larger, lighter and more open. Moving walls wasn’t an option—what could they do without changing the footprint? We helped the clients realize a big change in feel and function while keeping their current layout. Large-format tile on the floor and shower-surround was added to create continuity. Two niches provided owners their own storage space, while a vanity, medicine cabinet and over-toilet unit…

  - Location: Washington, DC

  - Description: With a great hardwood floor as a base, this rowhouse was in need of a modern touch. Our client wanted a modern yet comfortable design aesthetic. We redesigned the kitchen adding base cabinets on either side as well as extending the height of the wall cabinets to take advantage of the great ceiling height. In the living room we re-oriented the space to maximize seating while incorporating a relaxed, contemporary feel. One of the challenges of this space was to create three distinct areas on the m…

  - Description: We were invited by a Capitol Hill bachelor to help design the interior of his new townhome. His work took him around the country and when he came home, he was frustrated because he felt he was living in a dorm. He wanted a home that reflected his maturity and profession, as well as a comfortable place where he could invite friends. The client had an important family painting that he wanted to use as the focal point of our design. We positioned the painting in the dining room area as the centerpi…

  - Description: Our client approached us with a newly constructed townhome consisting of white walls and his favorite couch. Our challenge was to create a space around his preferred piece of furniture and transform his new generic townhouse into a home he could call his own. By assessing our client’s likes and dislikes, we were able to create an interior with dark, comfortable seating backdropped by a bold and modern design aesthetic. In addition to selecting furniture, we designed the color scheme on the main…
