> I am extremely disappointed with my experience working with Erica Ortiz Berke, owner of Neubleu Interior Designs, LLC (“Neubleu). As someone with over a decade of experience in hotel and apartment development, I expected a high standard of professionalism, transparency, and project management from her, none of which were met.
>
> From the start, Erica’s billing practices were opaque and excessive. Despite multiple requests, she failed to provide detailed invoices for her time, which was often spent on fixing errors—such as incorrect furniture orders or delays due to poor communication—that should not have been my responsibility to pay for. Moreover, her handling of the procurement process raised serious concerns. Without disclosure, she appeared to apply markups on furniture and shipping, prioritizing her profit margins over value to her client.
>
> The quality and timeliness of the furniture were far below what was promised. Items arrived late, damaged, or even lost, yet there was no accountability or proactive communication. I constantly had to chase updates, and when I did hear back, her responses were dismissive and unhelpful. This level of disregard for customer service was alarming, particularly given the fees I was charged.
>
> Additionally, her choice of vendors led to significant issues, including incorrect furniture specifications, damaged goods, and lack of support in resolving these issues. Her lack of oversight reflected either poor judgment or inadequate follow-through, adding to the stress and delays in my project.
>
> In summary, Erica failed to deliver on the expectations she set, both in terms of service and professionalism. The combination of inflated charges, lack of transparency, and failure to manage her role responsibly left me deeply dissatisfied.
>
> I would caution anyone considering her services to thoroughly examine her contract terms and seek a provider who values their client’s interests over self-gain.

**Comment from NeuBleu Interior Design:**

> This was not our first, but our second time working with Andrew Swerdloff.
>
> On the last occasion I released them from my projects finding it too complex to navigate their family dynamic.
>
> On this occasion I was VERY clear about our process and billing and it clearly states it in our terms and conditions which we discussed for no less than 30 minutes prior to his approval which he sent with notations. I even explained that the budget needed to be increased prior to his approval.
>
> I gave him opportunities to pull out as I was noticing his challenging personality of bullying tactics and speaking down to me and my staff. Despite this we moved forward as he approved the selections; we had put together to create the aesthetic he requested.
>
> Upon receiving his first bill prior to purchasing the specified furniture he argued with me for 30 minutes about the bill.
>
> At the end of the day I had to hire a lawyer for him to pay his outstanding invoices so it says a lot about his character as he already had his furniture and had not paid the invoices until over 4 months later when I looped in his business partner.

> I've had the pleasure of working with Neubleu on numerous projects and she always raises the bar of excellence. Our last project was the interior design of a personal clients home in May and we were able to help the collector receive special pricing for her interiors while holding to our professional standards. I would highly recommend Neubleu to any client that has interior design needs.

**★★★★★ — Borrego Custom Homes, April 2017**

> Erica has been an integral part of my remodel team on a couple projects now. Her design sense has always been spot on and one of the big reasons I was able to sell the houses in such a short period of time. Overall, my experience was remarkable, and am currently working on an additional project with her. I couldn't be happier with her professionalism, the timeliness of her work, and the results!

**★★★★★ — Ercan Nalkiran, April 2017**

> Erica is lovely to work with very fast, responsive and a great designer. I highly recommend her for your interior design projects.

**★★★★★ — eccornely, April 2017**

> Neubleu Interior Design did an amazing job updating my kitchen and two bathrooms with floor tile, granite counters, back splash, and paint colors that were both complimentary and beautiful. Erica was both professional and a pleasure to work with!

> When we originally approached Neubleu it was with the intent that Neubleu provide interior design only. Neubleu (Ms. Ortiz) insisted she could also provide a floor plan and construction drawings. NeuBleu required 50% be paid up front in order to begin work. In this case it was $8,114.
>
> The work produced by NB was not only incomplete but was not reflective of what we originally contracted NB to do. Since the beginning we were clear verbally with written and visual direction as to what we expected. However, many of our needs had to be repeated verbally or by e-mail. Over the coarse of a year and a half we had to repeatedly initiate contact regarding progress because we would not hear from NB for months at a time. With every plan submitted corrections had to be made because the drawings were not done according to our specifications. We made several attempts at making it work with NB including agreeing to move our master bedroom upstairs even though that was not what we wanted. This was largely because NB was unable to design the Foyer with the master on the first floor. The portions of the plan that did work, are largely based on the clippings, sketches, and a Pulte floor plan we shared with NB. And these areas only came together after many corrections and references to the sketches and clippings. The last plan presented had a huge overhang on the upper floor; leading us to conclude that it was time to move on. We received no usable original designs by NB.
>
> It is important to note that in the end the plans were not only incomplete but were substandard and contained many errors. (See final plan attached). We realized that if there were this many errors and issues with a plan we could understand it would be more difficult to trust that there would be no errors in the construction drawings.
>
> Upon cancellation we were provided with a final bill, which was converted to an hourly rate. This bill included charges for time spent correcting previous errors and putting in items forgotten by NB, which led up to the termination of the contract. It is clear by the attached that NB entered into an agreement without the ability to comply. In the end, NB kept our entire Down payment of $8,114. Upon our insisting that the bill was unfair we received a letter of refusal. We sadly have since learned that it is unusual to require such a large deposit (50% in this case) when there are no materials needed to purchase.
>
> Lesson learned. Do your research on every business even those belonging to those you once called friend.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Loving this Bright Tile!** *(in Photo Questions)*

It's really similar in color to my shower wall tiles. What flooring tiles did you pair w/this? (I'm redoing my 1x1 in stone tiles for something that can handle more traffic in the main area of my walk-in shower / wet room style bathroom).

Thanks in advance!!!

A: I used a tile that matched the flooring so it blended in and didn't distract from the shower wall tile!

**Q: Tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Who makes the tiles?

A: I would have to dig that up I honestly cannot recall! It was from Statements Tile and Lighting here in Santa Fe! Let me see what I can find...

**Q: what is the brand and size of tub** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It actually was in the home already so I do not have the dimensions or the provenance of it however there are so many great manufacturers of them

**Q: Vanity top** *(in Photo Questions)*

What material and color name of top?

A: This is a walnut colored sandstone that I get from a local company called Ground Floor.
