> I worked with John Blackburn's office on a ground up house he designed. John was absolutely wonderful to work with, including the architects at his office. John is a truly talented architect and has a kind respectful personality - a pleasure to be around! John and his architectural staff worked collaboratively with my interior design office. The design process was extremely organized - moving at an excellent pace. I was impressed at how beautifully we worked wth us. If you are considering Blackburn Architects look no further. I highly recommend John Blackburn and his team!

  - Description: The owner’s goal was to preserve a historic granary on the grounds of the Meadow Lane Lodge, a rural country inn located in Bath County, Virginia. The design incorporates the original two-story corn crib that runs the full length of the entry elevation.

## Community Q&A

**Q: We Love the the rot iron branches railing!!** *(in Photo Questions)*

We Love the the rot iron branches railing. It is absolutely breathtaking. We are expecting our first child and naturally we will need to baby proof our home. We need a railing that will fit the decor of our living room and this one is perfect. Please let us know if you are excepting clients and would consider helping us with our project. Thank you very much!

Very Best,
Michael

A: Hi Michael,
Thanks for asking the question and congratulations on the impending arrival! I'm delighted you love the railing. It is beautiful. We had a local artisan create this one, and we would be more than happy to help you with your project. Please call our office: 202-337-1755.
All the best,
Blackburn Architects

**Q: Our fireplace** *(in Photo Questions)*

We want to incorporate the exposed fireplace flue. (Sp?). Where do you get the pipe for it?

A: Hi Jennie,
It’s a galvanized steel flue, 12”-14” in diameter, and came in about 4 foot sections. It should be pretty easy to find. Stainless steel is another good recommendation and look. Galvanized is a little less expensive, but a little more rustic. Hope that helps!

**Q: What is the type and manufacturer of the roofing material?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Tom, In this project, we reinstalled the historic barn's existing multi-colored slate in the original pattern. Some additional slate came from a barn down the road that was in shambles. Thanks for the question!

**Q: Where did you source the metal tie bars from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi! Thanks for reaching out. We worked with a steel fabrication vendor to create the tie bars. Unfortunately I do not recall the specific vendor at this time.

**Q: Amazing! Just what we are looking for!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is it possible to purchase plans for this home?

A: Unfortunately, it is not possible to purchase plans for this home. But if you are interested in working with us, you can always contact us through our website (www.blackburnarch.com).

**Q: is this farm in dover, nh?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Yes, this barn is just on the edge of Dover, NH.
