> Jacquelyn sized up our problem and challenges and made some very good recommendations - some we had not even considered or known about. She recommended an outdoor shutter system for our back patio and a louvered Pergola for our side deck. She was able to answer all of our questions or get answers from the contractors involved. She took the time up front to make sure the project would go well with several visits and measurements. She kept us posted all along regarding project start dates. She was on-site during the entire project, discussing with the contractor and keeping us informed. She has followed up with us several times since the completion. She is a highly rated and very knowledgeable designer.

> We wanted to redo our kitchen and had some ideas on what we wanted to do. Jacqueline helped us by showing what all could be done. She brought by materials and helped us find the perfect matches. The result was a kitchen redo much more beautiful than what we had thought possible. We used her to do some other areas in our house as well. She listens and helps us make all the decisions needed to make the projects turn out great. The contractors she hired were all very professional and did great work and clean up.

**★★★★★ — Cindy King, May 2021**

> We were very pleased with the kitchen and bathroom remodel Jacque helped us with. We told her what we had in mind, and she guided the design and offered us choices of materials. She provided estimates from two contractors. The one we chose did great work in a short amount of time as promised. She took care of ordering the fixtures and returning any that were not satisfactory. She communicated with the contractor to make sure the project stayed on schedule and was to our satisfaction. I definitely would use Jacque O Designs again.

> Jacque O Designs stepped in to help, give advice, do searches and legwork, work with contractors and basically keep me sane after our home was devastated by an F-2 tornado in February of this year. She knows what questions to ask to initially determine her clients taste and preferences. At this point she moves foreword with suggestions and advice. I am very, very happy with our bathroom design and look forward to working with her again.

> Ms. Woolard did a wonderful job of helping me select the furniture and upholstery for a new branch library. She was very patient and I never felt any pressure when we were working together. She gave me several options and I felt that it was always my decision. She guided me to something I felt comfortable and confident about. She was a joy to work with and I would gladly work with her on other projects.

> I’ve collaborated with Jacquelyn on several projects, specifically designing and fabricating custom window treatments and soft furnishings. Her detailed technical knowledge of product construction, materials, and practical applications, as well as her aesthetic eye, contributed to successful outcomes that delighted my clients,

> I had a vision and Jacquelyn made it a reality! I had wanted to redo my master bathroom for several years and had a lot of ideas of how I wanted it to look. Jacquelyn listened and gave me several ideas of her own. We had a lot in common and it was wonderful working with her. She is very knowledgeable and has a lot of experience in decorating. She was always available when I needed to discuss something with her and was able to come up with solutions whenever I encountered a problem with the contractors.

## Community Q&A

**Q: What is the fabric? Designer? Manufacturer?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the fabric?

A: I'll have to check my files and will get back to you.

**Q: 60s ranch cottage remodel** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I bought my home about 3 years ago and I'm finally ready to start making some changes to the exterior. I want to make the house look cottage like without spending huge money at the moment such as adding dormers and additions. I really want to give it some character and curb appeal and make it look not so..... plain. I know what I'm looking for but feeling overwhelmed on where to begin. I'm looking to change the shutters, hide the foundation, create a nice entry way and add some lighting at the very minimum. Country cottage is the look I'm going for and would appreciate any advice!!

A: It appears that there is not enough color contrast between the roof and the siding colors. Depending on what color scheme you like, I might paint the house a soft and light bluish gray or soft and light tan. A dormer entryway would be ideal to break up the roof line and add architectural interest. Adding a little porch, which is very cottage style, to one side of the door or both would be nice, but don't know if that's in your budget. If you like the hardware on your garage doors, you might want to also bring that type of hardware up to the front entryway to bring continuity.

Just a couple of photos to get your imagination going. Do you have photos of what you'd like?

**Q: The dining room is askew, what to do?!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Dining table arrived from Pottery Barn, Marina drum chandelier is on the way from PB (which has a stationary pole attachment), but now it just feels off. Does it need a rug to anchor? Do I need a sideboard behind the sofa? Do I need art on the wall? It was coming along so well and now it's just off. Any advice would be appreciated.

A: I would put a rug under the dining table to anchor it. I would also put a small sofa table behind your sofa. You need to get an electrician to move the light fixture above your table to center it. Also, I think the three pictures on the wall make the area look more off center. I would put one large picture on that wall.

**Q: Need to update from 1990 Oak EVERYTHING** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I'm thinking about updating my kitchen specifically. My cabinets are solid wood and still in great condition. Would it be crazy to put on new door and cabinet fronts, and make my kitchen white? It needs to work with oak floors, trim, doors, etc. The large oak built-in is in the adjoining room. Is white trending out now? We are a young family, and I want our home to look fresh and fun. Open to any ideas!

A: I would suggest that if you go with all white (I'd go with a soft white) cabinetry that you change the door fronts on your cabinets. Otherwise, you will constantly be cleaning the door fronts because they will collect dust and dirt. Possibly a flat panel door. Also in order to break up the white I would suggest painting the island base a different color. Something to break up all the white and add character to the room.

**Q: Please Help! My Patio needs to be my families Happy Place!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We covered our patio and did a fire pit and pergola I need furniture in the corner and a rug and need suggestions. I have a 17 year old 6'3" autistic son and want this to be a happy place for him. All suggestions welcomed. Thank u

A: I would also suggest adding height and lots of large potted plants. This would be an idea to add height, light to the large open area or you could put this to the side and put chairs around it. Also love the illuminated barrels.

**Q: Would like ideas for window treatments** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Our kitchen/eating/great room is one open space. I would like to do window treatments in family room space (probably panels) and possibly Roman shades or panels in nook window and then Roman over kitchen sink. I think i would need to keep the fabric consistent. Print? Solid? Sheer?

A: I like the idea of the panels in the living room with roman shades. Not sure that wovens wouldn't be too casual of a look. It would be beneficial if you could take some more photos in your living room of the furniture pieces and the corner window. The idea of using geometric patterned pillows is a good idea.
