**Q: What type of counter tops are the most durable?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am planning a new kitchen and need a durable counter top that will not stain, can withstand high heat and is low maintenance. I do a lot of canning and baking and can really make a mess!

A: Hello!

I have found that Corian is a very durable and beautiful countertop choice.  While you cannot set hot pans directly on it, it is heat resistant and have very good stain resistance.

**Q: My laundry and entryway just aren't working!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I need some ideas.  My laundry room is very narrow and my back entry hall is a cluttered mess.  I tried taking the doors off the closet and that helps some, but not enough.  We store all of our shoes back here as well as coats, hats, gloves, etc.  I have mops/brooms hanging on the laundry room wall and would like to have a place for the vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner back there as well.

Here is my thought - If I completely tore out the closet and opened that space up, I could do some sort of built ins to store coats/shoes and give myself more room for laundry.  I may want to add a door to block off that space from the kitchen.

What do you think?  Any ideas for how to make this space more effective?  I apologize for the rough sketch, I threw it together fast.

A: I think opening the space up is a great idea!  What if you eliminated the closet and put a pocket door between the room and the kitchen?
