It is essentially 2 30" cabinets at either end with a 12" drawer stack in the center. **Q: should I change these cabinets** *(in Design Dilemma)* the cabinets are more of a brown color the picture reads more read than they are I will be replacing the countertops and sink and faucet and appliances my husband wants to replace cabinets I think they go with the post and beam style house A: It does look like the floors stop at the cabinets. If you hire the right company they can fill in and match the floors so you can get rid of the peninsula. I agree that there is a lot of wood here. More to the point, a lot of the same color wood so it looks very heavy. Also, you can get more functional cabinets even if you opt to not get rid of the peninsula (especially where the corner cabinet is. **Q: Pumpkin pie/convection oven advice needed!** *(in Cooking)* I have been cooking pumpkin pie for a long time, in both gas and electric ovens, but my tried and true recipe is just failing over and over with my convection oven. The problem: The center just takes forever to get done. My recipe is supposed to take a total of 55-60 minutes, and instead it takes about 1 1/2 hours. The crust ends up dried out, despite my pastry shield. I know people say to lower the temperature with convection, but that really doesn't work! I take the oven off convection, and it still doesn't get done. I've checked the temperature with an oven thermometer, (and called sears when the darn thing was new), and it seems to be getting to temperature. The Sears guys told me to preheat for an hour before baking (which really defeats the idea of quicker cooking, and didn't work). I just hate this oven, but we spent way too much on it to replace it anytime soon. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks! LIsa A: Momj47- yes, there is one that does both. I have one fro GE Profile. A: Sw **Q: White or stainless steel appliances?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I am planning a remodel of my kitchen and initially I was going to keep the existing stainless steel appliances. While shopping at my local home store I came across Whirlpool Ice White appliances. I like the clean, classic yet modern look. My dilemma is how to incorporate into design. I am thinking of doing a painted cabinet as I am not sure how it would look with wood cabinets. Has anyone chose white appliances for a recent remodel? Looking forward to your comments and suggestions. Please share photos. A: If you are doing white cabinets do stainless appliances which will likely hold their value better anyway. The reflective nature of the space will open up the space too. **Q: What does this living room need?** *(in Design Dilemma)* Wanting to know what changes are needed to make this living room finished. Any and all suggestions and help are welcome. A: I would move everything back from the fireplace a little, including the rug so there is a border of hard wood entirely around the rug. Then center the sofa and the chairs on either side of the rug. Beyond that, looks pretty good. It's a little difficult to see the spacing in the picture, if there is room, and you really want to add something, you could put the sofa facing the fireplace, leave the chairs where they are and add a love seat or chaise opposite the chairs.
