Our very particular designer found Joe when her cabinet maker was not available. We started the design process in April when Joe visited our home and made recommendations about new cabinetry. Our kitchen was 1949 original knotty pine with a sloped ceiling and beams. We planned to leave the ceiling in place, and I was concerned that new cabinetry might look out of place with the original stained ceiling. My worries were unnecessary because Joe found creative ways to tie in the old with the new in a seamless design that looks like it’s always been there. Part of the original soffit/ceiling had to be rebuilt to fit in with the new cabinetry and crown trim. Joe had the stain color-matched so that the new soffit/ceiling looks amazingly like the original. Our new cabinetry is absolutely beautiful! Joe came to my house, looked at the location, and sat and listened to what I had to say when I tried to describe it. He asked lots of questions and looked at all the pictures I had cut from magazines. He returned with a design plan that was far better than I could have imagined. Another favorite feature is a custom built wainscot on a half wall. The dishwasher, microwave and countertop installations all went seamlessly due to his accuracy. Joe also installed travertine tiles on the diagonal for the backsplash and built-in a spot for TV. The other professionals who worked with us (plumber, electrician and window coverings) all commented on the fine workmanship. I get so many compliments on the details and precise fit of his work. A contractor recently told me they would do a 1/4” reveal around all the insets bc Dallas soil shifts so much and anything closer would lead to rubbing quite quickly. Does this seem accurate to you? If you can not get the flooring level, then the cabinetry needs to be shimmed because the countertop crew will not install an uneven countertop. 1/4” is too large. We always use 1/8” standard. The soft-close under mount slides have multiple touch points for leveling. Hope this helps.
