I gutted it, but basically I'm just putting new floors, appliances and cabinetry where everything was before; redid walls and ceiling also. ONE of my issues is with the "island," which is too small now that I see it with the base cabinets installed. Right now it's only 60" by 24". I still have to install the countertop, so how can I enlarge it without tearing out the cabinets that have already been installed? I saw pics on this site where legs were added to an island to give it added width (or length)? Would that work in my case, and if so, besides adding legs what else would be needed? How much overhang is generally allowed on a countertop without support? Thanks in advance! A: A couple of things you can do, first and foremost would be to enlarge the countertop. If you are not already increasing the size to accommodate for stools you can always add an interesting shape to the back side or end of the countertop to add size and pizzazz. Although this might be a bit pricey depending on the shape, it might be worth it. You can also add open shelves or columns to the end of the cabinets and enlarge it that way. Hope that helps! **Q: trac lighting in kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have Juno track lighting in my kitchen. It is old school. Any ideas of lighting heads I should use? It is the only light in the kitchen so I need high wattage. Should I just blend in with the wood ceiling or should I buy heads that are attractive?
