Have used several different companies in the past; Maxalea, Akehurst, and MJM, and Pinehurst is head and shoulders above the others. Ted Carter will come over, we will walk the area and discuss what needs to be done, then he sends a proposal, and we triage what is to be done and when. Several times we have gone to the nursery to pick out trees and plants. The few plants that have not survived a year are replaced at no charge. He drives us around in an off-road golf cart, and we can get ideas, and even pick the actual plants. If he doesn’t have something in stock, he will get it. Ted has redesigned several areas, with an eye to continued visual interest throughout the year. He is readily accessible via text, phone, or email. > > The workers who come out are pleasant, hardworking and always leave the place immaculate. They have also relaid a bluestone patio that was settling unevenly, and repaired stonework for a fraction of what the mason who did the work quoted. If they come to weed when we are out of town or unavailable, and miss something, a call or email and they come out and deal with it. The office workers are always polite and friendly. > > After discussion, they send a out a detailed proposal with break down of pricing in the spring, which we amend and return. Rather than paying a big chunk of money up front, or paying monthly, their policy is to bill as work is done, so one knows what to expect and when, and you can be sure you are satisfied before you send a check, or call with your credit card information. Despite hiring a professional landscaping company, the trees and bushes that they planted were either too large or too small for the area. Instead of accentuating our new home, the landscaping interfered with the architecture of the house resulting in diminished curb appeal. > > You can imagine that it was with some trepidation when looking for another landscaping company. However, we had read prior positive reviews about Pinehurst Landscaping and decided to give them a try. Once we called we were immediately connected to Ted Carter who specializes in residential design. We explained our issues and what we were looking for. We scheduled a time that Ted would come and assess our landscaping. Ted sat down with us after surveying our plantings and pointed out the errors in the trees and other plantings that were chosen. After careful deliberation, Ted came up with a plan that fit our landscaping area. He chose plants and trees based on color, size, texture, and fragrance. Even if we didn’t care for a particular choice he had a backup suggestion. After we finalized our plan, we met him at the nursery where we were able to pick out our trees and shrubs. However, the true test was the end result. Ted and his crew arrived on time and completed the job in the time frame he had cited. We were thrilled with the end result. We received many compliments from our neighbors and guests and recommended Pinehurst without hesitation. The cost was reasonable and the quality of work was superb.
