D&L Construction showed up for our project when they said they would show up, the price stayed my quoted price and did not increase, they were very courteous, and their work -  excellent! The owner, Nels Ostedgaard, is upfront, and honest. Nels' ability for carpentry is amazing and one of a kind. Nels installed custom built bookcases and filing cabinets in my husband's office, and they are absolutely stunning. Nels was upfront with price, time, and estimation of when the project would be completed. All of those things are important, especially when your home becomes a work zone. Before we bought our current home, we lived in a Nels Ostedgaard built house and the quality was amazing. When we needed work done to our current home, there was no question who I wanted to do the work, D&L Construction. If we ever decide to build another home, Nels Ostedgaard, is first on my list to call! Thank you D&L Construction!

> It is my pleasure to review D&L Construction.  He renovated my 1920s home in Iowa City from top to bottom, in period style while adding necessary modern design and comforts.  We worked with him over the course of nearly 8 years from 2010-2018 (our choice to stage projects).  In that process I saw the fruits of his other projects across town, including 2 of his own custom family homes.  This isn't your average 'spec' builder.  Nels clearly values professionalism, quality craftsmanship, design sense and pragmatism at once.  He builds with both good taste and smart design, while providing a sturdy product to stand the test of time.  An eye to detail is ever-present and never at the expense of function.  Frankly, he just has good taste and clearly knows how to solve the problems of any new build or renovation.  His quality of craft is unparalleled in both the homes he builds and the furniture he designs.  He took our basement from wet and useless to fully dry and functional.  He built us a 2-car garage to match the style of our home from ground up.  He rewired, replumbed, reinsulated and refinished the entire home, including custom cabinetry and only the best sourced product.  Also - he keeps the job site CLEAN and respects the owners time and space.  I wouldn't even consider another builder in the area, he is far and away the best you will find.
