**Q: Design Debate: Are you FOR or AGAINST hanging a TV over a fireplace?** *(in Polls)*

Some designers say go for it; others say no way. Which side of history are you on?
Be sure to check out our design debate conversation on this topic, too!

A: To me this debate comes down to one question, "Can you set the room up where the TV is next to the fireplace?" Sometimes you are limited on wall space and this just isn't feasible, so you are left with putting it over the fireplace. You want the fireplace to be the focal point, but you want to be able to see the TV as well. For those who say you need a theater/TV room, some of us don't have the space for one and the only option left to us is to put it in the living room.
Ultimately, for this company, it comes down to what our homeowners want. If they want it next to the fireplace, we help by suggesting on where to put the fireplace and to make sure that there is wall space next to it to hold the TV. If they want it over the fireplace we make sure there is either a closet or cabinet next to or behind the fireplace to hold the receiver and DVD player. This is one of those questions where many of us ultimately end up agreeing to disagree.
