> I highly recommend Chip for your remodel project. He is very knowledgeable with years of experience. Chip is honest, ethical, trustworthy and pays attention to detail. He does things right and does not cut corners. We felt comfortable with him being in our home working when we weren’t there. Chip did a complete demo and remodel in our master bathroom. We wanted more cabinets for storage and linens, a larger shower, and to get rid of a bathtub that was only good for collecting dirt and dust . Chip built us a beautiful, very large shower, with custom sitting bench and double shower heads. We have all new cabinets with more storage space than I could ever imagine. We opted for heated floors and they’re amazing! I definitely recommend them if you’re considering them for your project. My bathroom is my favorite room in my house!

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Thornton, Feb. 2020**

> Chip was great to work with!! We cannot stress enough how happy we are with our finished project! We had to completely redo our master shower, he took it all the way down to the studs and rebuilt using the Schluter-Kerdi system it is so beautiful now! He helped in picking out our fixtures and was always helpful in suggesting places to go look for ideas and tiles. I was even comfortable enough to leave them in my home while I was away and never felt nervous. Thanks Chip!!

> Lone Star Kitchen & Bath recently completed a major remodel on our master bathroom and the end results were better than we had imagined. The remodel to our 32 year old master bathroom included the removal & replacement of all existing cabinetry and fixtures and a minor redesign of the existing floor-plan. With Chips help, we designed a new layout which included several upgraded features making our new master bathroom more functional and lower maintenance. During the project, Chip was onsite managing its progress and as unexpected issues were encountered was quick to notify us keeping the project as close to on schedule as possible and cost efficient. One of our primary concerns going in was our ability to track and manage the final cost given the age of the house and unexpected issues we might encounter during construction. Chip utilizes a project tracking document that allowed us to easily understand the costs associated with a construction project of this size and make decisions on any needed changes knowing how that would impact the final cost. Our remodel did take a bit longer and cost more (both due to unexpected issues uncovered as well as increased materials cost due to government tariffs) than we had originally expected, but we were able to manage through them with the help of the project tracking document. Given our experience with this project we would have no problem in recommending Lone Star Kitchen & Bath.

**★★★★★ — Champion Glass & Mirror, Oct. 2019**

> Currently, Champion Glass & Mirror has been doing business with Chip for over 10 years. He is an amazing contractor to work with. Extremely meticulous and thorough. He is always striving to create a highly astounding product for his clients while working with them to deliver those amazing results.

**Comment from Lone Star Kitchens & Baths, LLC:**

> Champion is the last contractor to arrive on project during close outs so they get to see the finished product before we turn them over to our customers. Thank you Champion for helping us keep our quality high!

**★★ — Jayne Koch, June 2019**

> The owner of this company did not complete the project. When he said he had finished remodeling the shower the handle for the water was loose. He came back once but again we had problems. He refused to answer my calls to come back and adjust this. He also charged way more then the estimated costs.

**Comment from Lone Star Kitchens & Baths, LLC:**

> I am surprised to hear that you consider the project incomplete, as it has been one year since we mutually agreed that the project was finished and you paid in full.
>
> The handle you are referring to was fixed about a month after it was installed according to the manufactures installation instructions. It is now apparent the Price Phister valve has a defective design because you recently inquired about replacing it with a different valve body. Unfortunately we do not warranty defective products since it isn’t related to workmanship.
>
> Your projects costs were closely monitored using a computer spreadsheet to tracked all changes of which were communicated to you as the project progressed with the opportunity to either deny or approved those changes (charges) before they were implemented. Your project consisted of converting a 3’x3’ cultured marble shower to tile, retiling a tub, and installing a new vanity countertop.
>
> After reviewing your tracking file, costs were within 4% of the original total bid amount. This change was a direct result of increasing the shower floor dimensions and raising the shower glass height more than required at your request, of which you approved. Two cheaper alternates were proposed that would have brought you within budget, but they were declined. All other project charges were related to work not associated with the bathroom remodel that you requested and you received pricing in advance before we proceeded.
>
> The bathroom project took a little longer because the glass company could not template the shower any sooner than requested, of which you were aware. Additionally, a PVC vent stack in your shower wall was found wet with a leaking roof boot and we had to wait for roofing repairs to be completed before proceeding. You also requested additional work to be performed like waterproofing the shower, which was an optional on the original proposal requiring more time to complete.
>
> We do our best to prepare highly detailed contracts that are designed to coach homeowners on construction processes, expectations of both parties, and provide comprehensive cost tracking to help keep customers informed. We cannot exactly predict outcomes for every possible situation that may occur or predict market pricing or deliveries to be exactly as expected, or forecast discretionary material choices precisely.
>
> To address scheduling, I have recently implemented a project schedule log that will track project events like materials approvals and deliveries, weather, holidays, added work impacts, and unexpected events like existing construction defects. A contract section has been added that clearly defines the anticipated project schedule in weeks and clarifies even further that it aligns with the original proposed original scope to avoid any future confusion.

**★★★★★ — Peggy Fredrickson, Oct. 2017**

> I originally hired Lone Star Kitchens and Baths nine years ago to remodel my master bath. Because I was so satisfied with the top quality work, I then contracted with Chip Mabie (owner) to remodel a guest bath, and then my kitchen. My mid-60s home had been remodeled before I bought it, but Chip made sure his work included resolving “hidden” issues (some were hazardous) as well as beautiful designs. He also was willing to tackle heated flooring in all three spaces, which has resulted in lower energy bills (as well as delightfully warm tile on cold winter days). Our remodels started with a detailed estimate, which was updated, shared, and discussed as issues were uncovered or design elements changed. He accommodated my limited budget, and helped me find lower-cost items without compromising design or function. Communication was frequent and easy. Chip had a key to my home, and was always careful about security, as well as ensuring that my pets were not at risk. I found Chip to be professional, easy to work with, personable, thorough, and of high character.

**★★★★★ — Karen Rigby, Sept. 2017**

> "A top quality remodel company. A detailed estimate is furnished before contract. You pay as work progresses and as moneys spend to purchase products. An Exel spreadsheet is updated as work progresses. Owner is always available to answer questions. The work is of high quality and materials, modifications are made right and no short cuts. The sub contractors are high quality also, and LoneStar monitors continually to ensure work is per the contract. This contractor is honest and performs high quality work."

**★★★★★ — Mark Murray, Sept. 2017**

> We hired Chip to remodel our master bathroom and another downstairs bathroom. We were so impressed with the work that we asked him to come back the next year and completely renovate the two upstairs bathrooms, as well. He is extremely easy to work with and very helpful in regard to design layout, color scheme, etc.... Workmanship was excellent.

**★★★★★ — Wendell and Sharon Alumbaugh, Sept. 2017**

> We have hired Lone Star Kitchens and Baths since 2010 for several projects, all have been beautiful. Professionalism, knowledge, quality and highly recommend them.

**★★ — David Dunn, Sept. 2017**

> We have two bathrooms that need remodeling. Chip came out and took a look and advised we would get our estimate by Wednesday before he went on vacation on Thursday. We did not receive it by Thursday so I sent him a message. He sent it over and advised that he would follow up on the following Thursday after he returned from vacation. It has been two weeks and we still have not heard from him. Also the bid he gave us is a good $10,000 more than the other bids we received. Needless to say we won't be using them.

**Comment from Lone Star Kitchens & Baths, LLC:**

> David, we are sorry for the apparent miscommunication but you were informed that we could not produce a competitive quote in the range you described during our initial bid meeting based on the expanded scope of work we developed after you had already obtained other bids.
>
> Still you insisted that we prepare a bid knowing that we would be higher and the need pursue or contact you further would not have not resulted in a project award, since you had already made that determination during our discussions.
>
> It is also be premature to assume the outcome of your bids, since you have not hired anyone yet based on your comments making a comparable cost assessment premature. We will match any quote as long as the project details or requirements are shared equally as there are always many variables to take into consideration.

## Community Q&A

**Q: can you tell me the name and color of tile** *(in Photo Questions)*

Would like to know tile pattern

A: This tile is no longer made. The installation pattern is on diagonal.

**Q: color scheme of tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you tell me the color scheme of the tile used in this bathroom remodel, please?

A: The porcelain shower tile in the photo is no longer made. The look mimics natural slate stone.

**Q: What is the name of this tile? Is it all the same but cut in smaller** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the name of this tile? Is it the same large tile cut into smaller pieces?

A: Linda, i'm not sure of the tile name or source on this project. The main tile in the photo is porcelain and the decorative borders and shower floor are travertine 5/8"x5/8" inside of a 4"x4" tile on the outer border edge. So the tile are not the same product. The main porcelain tile looks a lot like travertine and is easier to maintain which is why they chose porcelain.

**Q: where is the mirror from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Mirror

A: This mirror is from Home Depot and has front and side LED lighting. This mirror is not bright enough for ladies putting make up on as this installation has several can lights in the ceiling to greatly improve lighting over the vanity.

**Q: What appliances are these?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We are not sure of the manufacturer as the project was installed several years ago. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
