Timeless interiors rooted in structure, story, and craft.

Aisling Designs is a Boise-based interior design studio specializing in luxury residential and commercial spaces, architectural color consultancy, and historic restoration. Led by Shannon Thun—a nationally certified interior designer (ASID, RIDQC, AD)—the studio is grounded in spatial integrity, natural materiality, and purposeful design.

Our work spans private homes, boutique commercial environments, and full-scale restorations—each project shaped by its architectural context and guided by a distinct narrative. We believe in design as storytelling: every interior should reflect its history, its intention, and the people who inhabit it.

As Idaho’s exclusive Farrow & Ball stockist, we offer expert guidance in interior and exterior color palettes, finish schedules, and product sourcing. Whether reviving a Mid-Century ranch, reimagining a historic North End home, or curating interiors for a retail or hospitality space, Aisling Designs delivers spaces that are refined, cohesive, and enduring.

With clients across Boise and throughout the U.S., Aisling Designs is recognized for thoughtful design, elevated execution, and interiors that speak with quiet authority.

> As a home builder and real estate broker I rely heavily on ideas from home designers. Shannon has helped coach me through home projects with her amazing skills for home design. Shannon is well worth the investment if you want your home finishes to look amazing!!

> I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Aisling Designs. I hired Shannon (Sensitive Information Hidden) to help design a remodel for my kitchen and living room because I liked her visions. The renovation was completed last spring and I hesitated to write a review because I know how Shannon will respond, but I feel that I need to share my experience. The renderings I received from Shannon were distorted and measurements were markedly inaccurate. Shannon told me that she would be present throughout the renovation, but she never showed up or reached out to me until I contacted her 9 + weeks in to the renovation to give her feedback about some of her design choices. The chandelier that Shannon recommended for my foyer is too small for the space and does not provide adequate lighting. This will ultimately cost me tens of thousands of dollars once replaced. I made the decision not to have Shannon’s help completing the project, as I found her difficult to work with and lost confidence. In my experience, Shannon did not take critical feedback well, communication was problematic, and expectations were not met. I would not recommend Aisling Designs.

> We couldn’t be happier with the results of our Phase 1 remodel, thanks to Shannon Thun and Aisling Design! Shannon’s expertise and creative vision brought our ideas to life in ways we hadn’t even imagined. Her attention to detail and thoughtful approach made the entire process feel smooth and enjoyable. The spaces she designed are not only beautiful but also highly functional, perfectly tailored to our lifestyle and aesthetic. We can’t wait to see what she brings to the next phases of our project. Highly recommend Shannon and Aisling Design to anyone looking for exceptional design work!

> Shannon is amazing!! I gutted and added square feet to a 4600 square foot house, She is so organized and has a wonderful eye and exquisite taste. I am a very busy business owner and she brought most of the design choices too me. In the beginning, she took the time to study my house, my design style and listen to what my vision for the house. She wastes no time and works so well with the plumbing and electrically contractors in explaining where all the lighting and plumbing fixtures should be placed. I am absolutely amazed by her talent and forever grateful to Shannon for making my dream come true! My house is an absolute show piece. The kind you see in the Magazines!!! ❤️

> My experience working with Shannon at Aisling Designs on my recent home remodeling design project was very disappointing for many reasons. I signed my contract choosing the package price option, not realizing I would only be able to speak with her during our infrequent scheduled zoom calls. She did not do the precise measurement floor plan as per the contract, but charged me for it. Her renderings had some design ideas that were unclear or unworkable. For example, the contractor who required me to work with Shannon said he would not be able to implement her design for the master bath.
>
> She didn't provide physical samples and in some cases picked items for my project that did not work or were not per the specs. For example, she selected a different type of flooring than specified, without advising me of the change. When I did not like any of her very limited design options (such as a dining room chandelier that would have been wider than my dining room table), she was hesitant to find new choices. I ended up partially or fully redoing things that were never done or done in a way that didn’t work in my space. Overall, I was very dissatisfied with my experience. I feel it was incredibly expensive for the value I received.

**Comment from Aisling Designs:**

> Hi Diane,
>
> I apologize again for your dissatisfaction with the overall design process. I will point out that half of what you are stating is simply not true. No one demanded that you work with me, that was an agreement you entered into outside of the General Contractor who referred me to you. To respond to all your negatives here, I did everything I could to alleviate going over your budget and working closely with your then preferred contractor. You were happy and had no complaints until you moved to Boise and decided to go an entirely different direction. There were hostile words by you towards me to the contractor. I knew this and still kept giving my best efforts to support you in going another direction with a different contractor or handyman. You stopped communicating all together with me. I kept everything on deadline, and you signed off on all designs loving them. In regards to the master bath, I made you aware that the framing could not support a floating vanity. Ideas, are what a designer brings to the table, with that, they can't always work. Once Woodwright pointed this out I corrected my render to reflect that. I cannot bring samples to you when you lived in California and were renting out the home you wanted remodeled. In fact, we were only able to go inside the home twice, once was for accurate measurements. This is an expectation that was never discussed nor a concern while we spent six months creating your design package. I would still be helping you, however you decided to not respond to my text to help, or meet now that you are physically in Boise and the home is unoccupied.
>
> We sincerely apologize that our service was not satisfactory for you. We aim to provide the most excellent customer service and carry our business with high standards. It is of deep concern that our standards were not met in your customer experience.

> I purchased a new home last September after deciding to downsize. I basically replaced the majority of my furniture and decor. I contracted with Shannon to do the project and I am very pleased with the results.
> Shannon worked with me to understand the design concept that I wanted and then presented multiple ideas to accomplish “the look” that I was seeking.
> The pandemic and it’s affect on the availability of products made for many challenges but Shannon maintained a positive outlook and worked overtime to find viable options.
> She also brings the added bonus of being quite handy and installed shelves and hung lights and pictures very professionally.
> I highly recommend Shannon and would use her again without hesitation.

> Shannon has an amazing eye for design! More so than many I’ve spoken to over the years prior to starting my remodel.
> Shannon came in and within hours had me so excited to make some major changes. Her fantastic ideas will update our home with a style that suits us well and will increase the value of our home.
> Every time I walk into a room she has designed, I am just thrilled with the decor changes that she made,

**Comment from Aisling Designs:**

> Thank you Dyan. It was a fun little remodel and it really has turned out so beautiful!! I can't wait to see the last few finalizing touches

**★★★★★ — Spencer Arnold, June 2021**

> Excellent job staging the house! We were able to get probably 20 times our investment back! She really did an excellent job!

**★★★★★ — Michelle Cooper, May 2021**

> Shannon was a pleasure to work with and she went above and beyond to help create the space that I was looking for. You will not regret Shannon as a designer choice. Her taste is classy and timeless, with a twist of unique! I will look to her in the future if I need further help. Going with Aisling Designs was definitely a decision I will not regret and recommend highly!

**★★★★★ — HU-922767394, May 2021**

> Owner Shannon did an amazing job staging our home. She’s thorough, dedicated and responsive to our needs. To top it off, she has wonderful artistic sensibilities that are unique and versatile. She’ll make any house shine and was a pleasure to work with.

**★★★★★ — Scott Phillips, March 2021**

> Shannon's staging was exceptional for the sale of our 80s home. She styled the staging perfectly to match the updated/modern style of the home, and she was super easy to work with. I half-wanted to stay in the home after seeing how she put it together!

  - Description: An 11-bedroom boutique retreat in a restored historic home on Boise's North End (the former Franklin House). As interior designer and general contractor, I led a nearly two-year renovation guided by one idea: instead of literal theme rooms, each of the 11 guest rooms is a quiet character study of a real physicist, told through color and material rather than costume. Warm orange, mid-century lines for Edison; golden tones and blue wallpaper for Faraday; warm gold and atomic pattern for Bohr; eart…

Every detail including furnishings are original mid century modern pieces with light and bright white walls to play into the colorful custom tile, wood and color palette. This home truly looks as though it is in a timecapsule with some modern influences.

  - Description: Dundee I was so lucky to stumble into this project! I knew the owners well and had worked with them on real estate projects. When walking her home she had asked me to design her home remodel. Before the home was very rustic, outdated and Tuscan with the Master being a workout room, bedroom, closet and office. I did a CAD to show all walls blown out to encompass one large primary suite. The owners loved the vintage and traditional richness in design. So encompassed that having every inch of the r…
