> Punctual, generally good to work with, reasonable price, counters looked good on install. I was sold the Matt finish.  This is no finish at all, as any liquid, including water,  will stain the stone. Perhaps the installers did not use a sealer at all. A few months later, in spite of the care that we took,  my counter is full of stains that cannot be removed. Her suggestions to remove stains did not work. Salesperson basically said not to use counter as a counter and  gave me the number of a refinisher that i was to pay for.

**Comment from Kitchen Stone Design LLC:**

> It appears the stains that you are concerned with might have been caused by something other than water such as oil spills or certain chemicals. It is a natural property of granite to absorb liquids due to its porous structure, especially with a leathered finish. Although sealing the countertops with a granite sealer that was applied during the installation process (a standard industry practice) helps to prevent instant absorption of the spilled liquids, it does not completely eliminate this issue, especially if chemicals are used to clean the granite as they strip the protective coating with each cleaning. It is for this reason our installation completion form clearly states that natural stone countertops require proper maintenance such as use of cutting boards/trivets, cleaning with non-abrasive cleaning products, re-sealing and preventing the spills of harsh chemicals & oil.

> As indicated on our contract and installation completion form, KSD cannot be held responsible for the natural qualities of granite such as liquid absorption due to improper care and maintenance. In order to upkeep your leathered granite countertops, we would recommend buying one of the granite cleaning sprays available at home improvement stores or online. We also referred you to a sealing company that can re-seal your countertops, where they warranty their seal based on the material. Meaning if you have any problems within that time, they will come out to service your countertop seal. It is very important to prevent any spills from remaining on the countertop for an extended period of time as it might cause some moisture to be absorbed into the stone.

## Community Q&A

**Q: what color are the veins in Calacatta Classique Quartz by MSI?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I have seen two samples of Calacatta Classique Quartz by MSI and the veins in one sample was grey and the other sample was brown?   I'm really seeking one with grey veins.

A: Good Morning! The veining is of a greige, not particularly beige, nor grey; it's a warm soft greige. It was manufactured by MSI.

A: I would guess Fantasy Brown Quartzite, possibly honed or antique finish. =:-)
