A: Birch 100% **Q: Duchateau Lyon flooring** *(in Flooring)* Just wanted to share feedback for anyone considering the DuChateau floor in Lyon. We purchased this based on the sample and the online pics but the product that ships is TOTALLY different. Heads up if this is a product you are considering! Top of the photo is the sample from the store, bottom is the actual product shipped to us (All 4 boards included in the same box) A: Duchateau is completely import ( Chinese) and not an authentic product at all. Buy Canadian if you can it will be worth it in the end. Cheers **Q: hardwood stains** *(in Cleaning Tips)* Hi there, I have a mysterious staining on my hardwood- looks like little dark spots, maybe from oil or vinegar? Anyone have any luck with removing such stains? A: Can you isolate those spots and tape off the boards to perform isolation repairs? Also are the floors cured? That’s huge because doesn’t matter the finish if it’s not cured it can’t protect 100% as advertise. **Q: Which hardwood floor stain would you pick?** *(in Remodeling)* Hello. I am not in friendship with my current wood floor, I want to sand and restain it. We have a really hard time with my wife in choosing the right color. We will also paint the kitchen cabinets, moldings and wall. We are torn apart between 4 and 6. The lighter one gives a pink reflection sometimes. I am afraid that dark one would be too dark. What do you think? What would you recommend? I also attached house pics so you could get an idea. A: You may also try a reactive stain and layer 1-2 colors ontop of that. Oak is a great wood to stain. Personally I prefer natural and natural with omu wb or hwo all have a different look so maybe play with that idea? **Q: Rubio Monocoat issues** *(in Flooring)* Has anyone else had issues with the Rubio Monocoat system? Ughhh. We had our red oak floors sanded and stained by professionals, and it’s been a HUGE REGRET! It’s advertised as a strong impervious product, and it is not like that for us. I spilled chicken soup on the floor, and from the time i walked over to get paper towels and the rubio cleaner, it left a bleached mark. We have bleached marks throughout our house!! Attention Rubio— please don’t respond with an apology and ask me to contact your technical department. We had the guys who did the floors back out and even they only suggested we be careful with floors. And they said a rubio rep will come at end of april when he’s in town, meanwhile we’re stuck with blotched floors, and I cannot imagine a solution that won’t be a total nuissance to fix. They are stunning beautiful floors, but TOTALLY NON-FUNCTIONAL. A: Luxury Wide Plank has never been a Rubio distributor. We’re a boutique high end floor shop which is why odies is the preferred finish. Now that you’ve chimed in the “Loba” your impact oil is complete garbage. One of the worst oils I’ve used. No wax content and it smells terrible and turns my skin orange. Have a great day 😁 **Q: Problems with Rubio Monocoat** *(in Flooring)* We had our 40 year old red oak floors professionally sanded to 100 grit and then pole sanded with a 120 grit screen. We applied Rubio Monocoat Bourbon with a buffer and red pads and seemed to get all of the excess off with a buffer using white pads and following up with the white buffer pad with cotton towels. However the end result is very blotchy. It does not seem to be cloudy as many people report but it appears the wood itself has shinier spots than others and seems related to the grain of the wood. We don't know if it is an unevenness in the wood fibers/grain or possibly uneven sanding. Possibly parts of the same board taking up more finish than other parts? We are wondering if applying a second coat of rubio would help or hurt the problem. Does anyone have suggestions as to what the problem is and how we may correct it? Currently it is difficult to get a picture showing the issue but I will try in the daylight. Thank you for your input and help in deciphering this problem.
